The Saints reportedly interviewed New York Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafika today. They are expected to have a zoom meeting with Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn tomorrow. And the Saints have reportedly requested to speak with Commanders offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury.

Former Saints quarterback Bobby Hebert is down on the idea of a new coach turning the franchise around in one season. Hebert says if Derek Carr can stay healthy, New Orleans has the potential to win a few more games…

Expectations are much higher for LSU baseball this year. The Tigers lead the nation with eight players listed among the Top 75 freshmen for the season according to Perfect Game. That includes outfielder Derek Curiel, who is ranked as the top freshman in the country by Perfect Game.

The Fighting Irish have three players who played high school football in Louisiana…former St. Aug running back Dylan Devezin and two former University High players, safety Jordan Clark and linebacker Jaiden Ausberry. Clark and Ausberry are the sons of former LSU football stars, Ryan Clark and Verge Ausberry.

Saints offensive tackle Ryan Ramczyk has agreed to reduce his base salary for next season, which is a sign he will retire soon. Ramczyk didn’t play in 2024 because of a chronic knee injury. The former first round pick is 30-years-old.

The Sun Belt has announced cross-divisional opponents for the 2025 season, the Ragin Cajuns will host Marshall in a rematch of the Sun Belt Conference championship game and U-L will travel to James Madison. ULM will  host Old Dominion and visit Coastal Carolina.

In college hoops, the Cajuns are home tonight to take on Old Dominion. Both teams are 2-and-1 in Sun Belt play and U-L Lafayette interim head coach Derrick Zimmerman gives a scouting report on the Monarchs…

The Saints conducted a virtual interview with Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver yesterday. The 44-year-old is considered one of the NFL’s top rising assistants. New Orleans will reportedly interview Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafika today and then Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn tomorrow.

The Saints and offensive tackle Ryan Ramczyk have reportedly agreed to a restructured deal as Ramczyk is expected to announce his retirement this offseason. The restructured contract will save the Saints nearly 17 million dollars in salary cap space.

The Saints reportedly interviewed Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver today for their head coaching vacancy. Weaver is 44-years-old and after a seven-year-playing career, he has spent the past 13 seasons as an assistant coach. This past season, the Dolphins had one of the top defenses in the NFL despite not making the playoffs.

The Saints are also expected to interview Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka on Friday and Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn by the end of the week.

Host of the Locked on Saints Podcast Ross Jackson says  if some of the top coaching candidates go elsewhere, interim head coach Darren Rizzi will become a viable option for the Saints…

The LSU men’s basketball team fell to 0-2 in the SEC, with an 83 to 67 loss at Missouri last night. Mizzou hit eight three-pointers in the first half and the Tigers turned it over ten times in the first half, which led to 14 points for Missouri.

La Tech is off to an 0-and-2 start in Conference USA Play, losing both games on the road. Tomorrow night the Bulldogs host FIU and Coach Talvin Hester is hoping a return to the Thomas Assembly Center will do them some good…

A name familiar to Louisiana sports fans has emerged as a candidate to be the next head coach of the New Orleans Saints. The Saints have reportedly requested to interview Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady. Brady was the passing game coordinator on the LSU Tigers’ 2019 national championship team. Host of the Locked on Saints podcast Ross Jackson says it didn’t go well for Brady as the offensive coordinator for the Panthers in 2021, but he’s been an outstanding play caller for the Bills…

The Saints will have to wait until the Bills season ends to interview Brady. New Orleans will reportedly interview Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver today. He’s a defensive-minded coach that’s known as a culture builder.

The Timberwolves were led by Anthony Edwards who had 32 points. Dejounte Murray had 29 points to lead the Pels and Williams scored 22 points in 28 minutes as New Orleans fell to 7-and-30.

McNeese men’s basketball knocked down a season-high 16 three-pointers as the Cowboys defeated Northwestern State 92 to 69 in Natchitoches last night. D-J Richards made six threes, and led all scorers with 20 points. The Cowboys improve to 4-and-0 in the Southland, while the Demons fall to 3-and-1.

Jakevion Buckley had 25 points as Southeastern Louisiana defended its home floor and beat U-T Rio Grande Valley 79 to 75, Nicholls went to Commerce and defeated East Texas A-and-M 83 to 61.

Southern improved to 2-and-0 in the SWAC as the Jaguars defeated Prairie View A-and-M 84 to 80.  A-J Barnes had 19 points and nine rebounds. Grambling fell to 0-and-2 in the SWAC with a 71 to 66 loss to Texas Southern.

The LSU men’s basketball team looks to rebound after dropping its SEC opener to Vanderbilt on Saturday. Tonight the Tigers are at Missouri, who also started off conference play with a loss.

It was the story of the 2024 New Orleans Saints – they couldn’t hold a late lead. That was the case in Tampa yesterday as the Saints coughed up a fourth quarter lead and lost to the Buccaneers, 27-19, to finish their dismal season with a record of 5-and-12. Interim head coach Darren Rizzi said he was disappointed with the outcome but not the effort.

The Saints will have the ninth overall pick in the first round. It’s New Orleans first top ten pick since 2008.

The Detroit Lions captured the number one seed in the NFC with their win over the Vikings. That means Detroit gets a bye in the postseason and it also gives the Saints a chance to interview Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn. Glenn was the Saints defensive backs coach from 2016 to 20200 and he can be interviewed virtually until January 13th.

The Pelicans have won two in a row after beating an equally bad team, the Washington Wizards, twice over a three day period. NOLa-dot-com columunist Jeff Duncan expects big changes with the franchise in 2025…

Pelicans head coach Willie Green said today that Zion Williamson could return this week from a hamstring injury that has sidelined him for two months.

It was a disappointing start to SEC play for the LSU men’s basketball team as they dropped their conference opener at home to Vanderbilt 80 to 72.  Vanderbilt is fourth in the country in steals per game and they forced 15 turnovers and LSU allowed the Commodores to beat them on the glass.
