Northwestern State upset LSU last week in a mid-week game and the Tigers were determined last night for that not to happen again. Derek Curiel and Jared Jones led off the first inning by hitting home runs and Ethan Frey ended the game with a grand slam as LSU beat a good Southeastern Louisiana team 15 to 2 in seven innings.

LSU women’s basketball has missed out on Serah Williams, a standout six-foot-four forward from Wisconsin who was in the transfer portal. Williams chose UCONN over LSU after averaging 19 points and ten rebounds a game last year for the Badgers.

LSU men’s basketball has added a six-foot-seven wing player out of the transfer portal, Pablo Tamba. The native of Spain averaged 11 points and five rebounds a game last year at U-C Davis.

Louisiana Tech baseball plays Arkansas Pine-Bluff again tonight at the Love Shack. Last night the Bulldogs erupted for seven runs in the second inning on their way to an eleven to six win over the Golden Lions. In that second inning Sebastian Mexico hit a grand slam and that was followed up by solo home runs by Michael Ballard and Trey Hawsey. Tech head coach Lane Burroughs…

The second ranked LSU baseball team started last night’s game off with a bang as Derek Curiel and Jared Jones hit back-to-back home runs in the first inning and the Tigers beat Southeastern Louisiana 15-2. Ethan Frey hit a grand slam to end the game in the seventh inning. William Schmidt struck out seven hitters and picked up the win.

Northwestern State blew a five-run lead, but still ended up beating ULM nine to eight. Reese Lipoma had four hits, including a game-winning single in the ninth.

La Tech topped Arkansas Pine-Bluff eleven to six. Sebastian Mexico drove in seven runs, including a grand slam in a seven-run second inning. Houston edged McNeese four to three and Tulane topped Nicholls nine to four.

 

The Saints’ second-round draft pick, quarterback Tyler Shough (Shuck) from Louisville, is 25-years-old and will be 26 in September. But General Manager Mickey Loomis is fine with Shough being an older rookie…

LSU football has received a commitment from one of the top cornerbacks in the Class of 2026. His name is Havon Finney from Chatsworth, California. Finney chose the Tigers over U-S-C, Michigan, Oregon and others. He’s ranked by 24-7 sports as the seventh best cornerback in the Class of 2026.

Spring football is over for Louisiana Tech. Bulldogs head coach Sonny Cumbie says he’s hoping to add some defensive linemen through the transfer portal, but overall he feels good about his front seven…

The Saints have signed defensive end Chris Rumph. Rumph was a rotational pass rusher for the Chargers for four seasons and has 29 tackles and three sacks.

The second ranked LSU baseball team hosts Southeastern Louisiana tonight. The Lions’ pitching staff ranks fourth in the nation with a team ERA of 3.28. Brennan Stuprich is their Friday night ace, with an ERA of 2.06. But S-L-U Coach Bobby Barbier says they have several guys who are pitching well…

Conner Ware could get the start for LSU, since he did not pitch in the Tennessee series. First pitch is at 6:30.

There are three college baseball games in northeast Louisiana tonight. ULM will host Northwestern State at six PM. The All-time series between these two schools is very close. The Warhawks have won 117 games played between the two schools, while Northwestern State has won 116.

Last night the tenth ranked LSU softball team scored eight runs in the sixth inning to beat eight ranked Florida ten to two in the rubber game of their series. LSU had lost six of their previous seven SEC series before winning last night.

LSU is now ranked number two by D-1 baseball and Baseball America following its series victory over Tennessee. Left fielder Derek Curiel named the SEC Freshman of the Week. Curiel had a monster day on Sunday as he had four hits and drove in five runs in a 12-2 win over the Volunteers.

Saints quarterback Derek Carr provided an update on his injured shoulder while he was delivering a guest sermon at a church in Las Vegas. Carr says he’s been in constant contact with team officials about the injury and they are still trying to determine next steps forward. It’s been reported Carr could miss the 2025 season.

No mid-week game for the Ragin Cajuns baseball team this week. U-L Lafayette is 12-and-9 in the Sun Belt and in fourth place. Coach Matt Deggs says they could have a better record in conference play, if it wasn’t for some lackuster offensive performances on Sundays…

In the second round of the draft, the Saints selected quarterback Tyler Shough (“shuck”) out of Louisville. Coach Kellen Moore says they were more impressed every time they spoke with Shough during the draft process.

LSU has moved up to number two in the college baseball polls. D-1 Baseball and Baseball America have the Tigers ranked second in the latest college baseball polls. Andrew Novak and Ben Griffin won the Zurich Championship on Sunday at the TPC Louisiana. Novak and Griffin were tied throughout much of the final round with their playing partners, Jake Knapp and Frankie Capan (SAP-in) the Third. But the pivotal moment of the tournament came on the 17th hole when Novak and Griffin birdied, while Knapp and Capan bogied. Novak says after watching Capan hit his tee shot in the water, that gave his team the opening they needed, and he made sure not to repeat the mistake Capan made on the tee.

LSU won its highly anticipated baseball series against defending national champion Tennessee. The Tigers defeated the Vols in the rubber game 12 to 2 in eight innings yesterday. Freshman Casan Evans allowed just two runs in six innings, the two runs allowed came in the first inning…

Baseball America and D-1 baseball now has the Tigers ranked number two in the country, behind Texas.

The Tigers will host Southeastern Louisiana tomorrow night. The Lions lead the Southland after beating Houston Christian ten to two  yesterday.

The Cajuns, ULM and Louisiana Tech were all losers.

The Saints added depth to their defensive secondary with the selection of safety Jonas Sanker in the third round. New Orleans head coach Kellen Moore says Sanker was a three-year starter at Virginia, a team captain and led the ACC in tackles for two straight seasons…

The Saints have another quarterback on their roster. They used a second-round pick to select Tyler Shough (Shuck). He’s 25 years old, played seven seasons of college football with three different schools, and suffered three significant injuries. Shough says it’s been a long journey so it was surreal when he got the call from the Saints ….

If you went to bed before the end of the LSU game, you missed a great comeback. The Tigers were down 3-to-nothing in the 9th inning and scored six runs to win! Two errors by Tennessee’s third baseman opened the door, and Jared Jones won the game on a three-run home run over the batter’s eye over the center field wall.

Thirty-one runs were scored in Ruston last night and it was Dallas Baptist who came out on top 16 to 15 in 12 innings. Each team hit a grand slam in the tenth inning, Trey Hawsey hit the grand slam for the Bulldogs. Ryan Harland suffered the loss.

ULM rallied from a four-run deficit to beat Old Dominion seven to six. Kade Dupont had a bases clearing double in the eighth inning gave the Warhawks the lead.

The New Orleans Saints drafted a quarterback last night. In the second round, the Black and Gold took Tyler Shough (Shuck). He’s 25-years-old and played seven seasons of college football. The Arizona native suffered three major injuries, two of them to his collarbone and a broken leg. Last season in Louisville, Shough threw for nearly 32-hundred yards, 23 touchdowns and six interceptions. Shough on his best quality…

Former LSU left tackle Will Campbell is now a New England Patriot. The Pats select the consensus All-American with the fourth overall pick. Campbell says ever since Patriots Executive Vice President of Player Personnel Eliot Wolf came to one of his practices, he knew he wanted to play in Foxborough.

The most anticipated series of the season has arrived for the LSU baseball team as the 7th ranked Tigers host the 6th ranked Tennessee Volunteers in a matchup of the last two College World Series championship teams. Coach Jay Johnson says the Vols have an extremely talented team again this year…

Terrific pitching matchup as two left-handers expected to be selected in the first round of this Major League Baseball draft face off against each other. Kade Anderson for LSU and Liam Doyle for the Volunteers.

Big series in Ruston as well this weekend as Louisiana Tech hosts Dallas Baptist. The Patriots are tied for first place in the Conference USA standings with Western Kentucky and Tech is a half a game back. First pitch at the Love Shack is at 6 PM.
