New Orleans beat Atlanta earlier this season and in that game Michael Thomas and Alvin Kamara had big games, with the two combining to catch 25 passes. Kick-off is at 7:20.

LSU Coach Ed Orgeron says the team’s leading receiver Justin Jefferson is questionable for Saturday’s game against Texas A-and-M. But Jefferson was at practice yesterday, after missing practice on Monday and Tuesday. Cornerback Kelvin Joseph will be a gametime decision.

In a matchup of two of the best big men in the NBA, Joel Embiid and the 76ers got the best of Anthony Davis and the New Orleans Pelicans. Philadelphia beat the Pels 121-120 as A-D missed the third of three free throws with 2.5 seconds left. Davis had just 12 points on the night, while Embiid had 31 points and 19 rebounds.

The 19th ranked LSU Tigers begin play today at the Advocare Invitational Tournament in Orlando, Florida. The Bayou Bengals will face Charleston at 6 PM. LSU is undefeated, while the Cougars are 3-1 after losing to Oklahoma State n Sunday. LSU will play three games in Orlando before returning home to Baton Rouge after Sunday’s game.

The Ragin Cajuns completed play at the Gulf Coast Showcase in Florida with a 68-61 win over Tulane. Marcus Stroman scored a career-high 26 points, 19 points in the second half as UL Lafayette erased a seven-point second half deficit. It’s the first win for the Cajuns over the Greenies since 1935.

LSU football coach Ed Orgeron says wide receiver Justin Jefferson is questionable for Saturday’s game versus the Texas A-and-M Aggies. Jefferson leads the team with 45 catches and the Tigers are expected to throw the ball a bunch on Saturday since the Aggies rank number one in the SEC in rush defense.

Orgeron has also been named a semi-finalist for coach of the year honors. Coach O plans on having the out of state players over at his house tomorrow for Thanksgiving. He plans on serving oyster dressing, but quarterback Joe Burrow is not anxious to try it…

Drew Brees is appealing to those who are voting for the Pro Bowl. Brees leads all players with 487-thousand votes as of November 20th. Tomorrow Brees and the Saints host the Falcons.

The Ragin Cajuns have played well enough down the stretch to give them an opportunity to represent the Sun Belt Western Division in the league’s first ever title game. UL Lafayette has won three of its last four and if they beat ULM on Saturday, they will be West champions. Coach Billy Napier likes the development of his team….

The Saints have one more day of practice before they host the Atlanta Falcons tomorrow night. New Orleans is a big 13 point favorite, but will rookie receiver Tre’Quan Smith play. He was limited at practice yesterday. Unknown if veteran receiver Brandon Marshall is ready to play.

A win for the Cajuns on Saturday against ULM and they will play in the first ever Sun Belt Championship game. UL-Lafayette, the Warhawks and Arkansas State enter the final regular season game in a three-way tie for first place in the West Division. Coach Billy Napier says the pressure is on to win, but it’s been that way for awhile….

Saints defensive end Marcus Davenport has returned to practice on a limited basis. Davenport is trying to come back from a toe injury that has sidelined him since the win over the Vikings.

Rookie wide receiver Tre’Quan Smith was also limited at practice yesterday with a foot injury. It’s unknown if wide receiver Brandon Marshall will make his Saints debut.

UL-Lafayette and ULM will face each other Saturday at Malone Stadium with first place on the line in the Sun Belt West Division. Both teams are 6-5 overall, 4-3 in conference and in a three-way tie with Arkansas State. Cajuns Coach Billy Napier says one of their top priorities against the Warhawks is to slow down their quarterback Caleb Evans…

With the Rams historic 54-51 win over the Chiefs on Monday night, Los Angeles keeps pace with New Orleans for the top seed in the NFC playoffs. The Saints still own the tie breaker, thanks to their head-to-head win over the Rams.

New Orleans will host Atlanta Thanksgiving night and if the Saints score 40 or more points, they will become the first NFL team to score 40 or more points in seven games during a season.

The Saints defense has also been very impressive in recent games. They’ve held three of their last four opponents to 20 points or less, which is big in today’s offensive minded NFL. Defensive End Cameron Jordan says getting off to a good start is a big key…

Nicholls Quarterback Chase Fourcade was named the Southland’s Player of the Year. Fourcade threw for 2,447 yards and 19 touchdowns to lead the Colonels to a conference co-championship.

Saints running back Mark Ingram has rushed for over 100 yards in back-to-back games as the former Heisman Trophy winner is getting back into the swing of things after missing the first four games of the season due to a suspension for violating the league’s policy on performance enhancing drugs….

The Rams kept pace with the Saints in the battle for the top seed in the NFC. Los Angeles beat Kansas City 54-51 in the highest-scoring game in Monday night football history. The Chiefs became the first team in league history to score 50 points and still lose.

The Pelicans completed a perfect three-game homestand last night by beating the San Antonio Spurs 140-126. Julius Randle had a triple double, 21 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists. Anthony Davis had 29 points and sat for the final 5:52 to watch his team win for the sixth time in seven games…

The Pels begin a three-game road trip in Philadelphia tomorrow night and the team will be without former Ragin Cajun Elfrid Payton. He’ll miss about six weeks with a broken pinkie finger that needs surgery.

In college hoops…the Ragin Cajuns defeated Colorado State 91-73 in the Gulf Coast Showcase. JaKeenan Gant had 19 points to lead the way. Tulane is playing in the same event in Florida and beat South Dakota State 84-80. And Houston beat Northwestern State 82-55.

The Saints are 9-1 and they have a three-game lead over Carolina for first place in the NFC South. But Coach Sean Payton knows there’s still six games left and anything can happen….

For a second consecutive season, Nicholls will host a first round F-C-S playoff game. The Colonels, who are co-champs of the Southland Conference, will face San Diego at 3 PM this Saturday at John L Guidry Stadium.

It’s Bayou Classic Week, Southern and Grambling meet on Saturday. The winner advances to the SWAC Championship game. Grambling has won three straight in the annual contest. Kick-off is at 4 PM.

LSU got its offense back on track versus a weak Rice Owls team as the Bayou Bengals had 552 yards of total offense in a 42-10 win. Quarterback Joe Burrow threw for a career-high 307 yards and two touchdowns. Coach Ed Orgeron says a good week of preparation led to good results…

And many would say that college football is better today now that Les Miles is coaching again. He was introduced yesterday as the new head coach at Kansas, which hasn’t had a winning season since 2008. But Miles is optimistic he can turn the Jayhawks into a winner quickly….

It goes down as the worst loss ever for a team that won the Super Bowl the year before.

Quarterback Drew Brees threw for 363 yards and four touchdowns. Tre’Quan Smith caught a career-high 10 passes for 157 yards and a touchdown. Fellow wide out Michael Thomas caught four passes for 92 yards and became the first Saint to have over over 1,000 yards receiving in his first three seasons in the NFL.

Les Miles is back as a college football coach. He was introduced yesterday as the new head man for the floundering Kansas Jayhawk football program. The “Hat” has signed a five-year deal worth two-point-seven million dollars annually.

After beating Rice 42-10, LSU has moved up to number eight in both major college football polls. The Tigers close out the regular season this Saturday in College Station against Texas A-and-M. LSU will go for its 10th win, while the Aggies are looking for their eighth win in Jimbo Fisher’s first year.

Nicholls will host San Diego this Saturday in the first round of the F-C-S playoffs. It’s the second straight year the Colonels will host the Pioneer Football League champion in the postseason. Nicholls is one of three Southland schools to make the playoffs, U-I-W and Lamar are also in.
