If you went to bed before the end of the LSU game, you missed a great comeback. The Tigers were down 3-to-nothing in the 9th inning and scored six runs to win! Two errors by Tennessee’s third baseman opened the door, and Jared Jones won the game on a three-run home run over the batter’s eye over the center field wall.

Thirty-one runs were scored in Ruston last night and it was Dallas Baptist who came out on top 16 to 15 in 12 innings. Each team hit a grand slam in the tenth inning, Trey Hawsey hit the grand slam for the Bulldogs. Ryan Harland suffered the loss.

ULM rallied from a four-run deficit to beat Old Dominion seven to six. Kade Dupont had a bases clearing double in the eighth inning gave the Warhawks the lead.

The New Orleans Saints drafted a quarterback last night. In the second round, the Black and Gold took Tyler Shough (Shuck). He’s 25-years-old and played seven seasons of college football. The Arizona native suffered three major injuries, two of them to his collarbone and a broken leg. Last season in Louisville, Shough threw for nearly 32-hundred yards, 23 touchdowns and six interceptions. Shough on his best quality…

The Saints also selected Vernon Broughton, a six-foot-five defensive tackle from Texas and also in the third round New Orleans took safety Jonas Sanker, a two-time First-team ALL-ACC performer.

Former LSU left tackle Will Campbell is now a New England Patriot. The Pats select the consensus All-American with the fourth overall pick. Campbell says ever since Patriots Executive Vice President of Player Personnel Eliot Wolf came to one of his practices, he knew he wanted to play in Foxborough.

The Saints stayed with the ninth overall pick and selected left tackle Kelvin Banks Junior. Banks says he’s looking forward to playing for another rookie – rookie head coach Kellen Moore.

The most anticipated series of the season has arrived for the LSU baseball team as the 7th ranked Tigers host the 6th ranked Tennessee Volunteers in a matchup of the last two College World Series championship teams. Coach Jay Johnson says the Vols have an extremely talented team again this year…

Terrific pitching matchup as two left-handers expected to be selected in the first round of this Major League Baseball draft face off against each other. Kade Anderson for LSU and Liam Doyle for the Volunteers.

Big series in Ruston as well this weekend as Louisiana Tech hosts Dallas Baptist. The Patriots are tied for first place in the Conference USA standings with Western Kentucky and Tech is a half a game back. First pitch at the Love Shack is at 6 PM.

The Saints also selected an offensive tackle. New Orleans held steady and with the ninth pick they took Kelvin Banks from Texas. Banks already loves the Superdome, he played in the 2024 Sugar Bowl….

The last two national champions in college baseball begin a three-game series tonight at Alex Box Stadium as the seventh ranked LSU Tigers host sixth ranked Tennessee. LSU enters the series on a two-game losing streak as they lost in the final game of the Alabama series and suffered an ugly 13-3 defeat to instate foe Northwestern State. Coach Jay Johnson hopes his team will learn from the last two games…

Tennessee is coming off a series loss to Kentucky and in the final two games of that series, only scored three runs. First pitch tonight is at 6:30.

Also tonight, La Tech hosts Dallas Baptist, the Cajuns host Georgia Southern, and Grambling looks for its eighth straight against Florida A-and-M.

Tonight is the NFL draft and former LSU offensive tackle Will Campbell is set to become the first Tiger o-lineman to be selected in the first round in 27 years. Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee Alan Faneca was the last and only LSU offensive lineman selected in the first round and that happened in 1998, and the Steelers chose him. Campbell could go as high as number four to the Patriots.

The Saints have the ninth overall pick and could take a quarterback at that time or early in the second round, since Derek Carr’s future with the organization is unknown. But General Manager Mickey Loomis says Carr’s injured shoulder does not impact their draft strategy.

This college baseball season, LSU Shreveport is invincible – literally. 44 games, 44 wins – and many by lopsided scores. Head Coach Brad Neffendorf says his team has really gelled this year.

Cut 6 (14) “…pretty well together.”

The 44-game winning streak is the longest in NAIA history and the Pilots close out the regular season by facing Jarvis Christian this weekend.

Louisiana Tech and ULM were rained out last night, but there were a couple of games that were played. The Ragin Cajuns beat Nicholls six to two as Conor Higgs hit his 13th home run. Southeastern Louisiana fell to 22nd ranked Southern Miss five to four.

LSU baseball is getting ready to face the defending champion Tennessee Volunteers tomorrow night. The Vols are 34-7 and Friday night starter Liam Doyle is one of the top pitchers in college baseball.

Tonight is the NFL draft and several mock drafts have the New England Patriots selecting former LSU and Neville football star Will Campbell with the fourth overall pick. The Monroe native told KNOE-TV sports he has no problem re-locating to the northeast.

After Campbell is selected, the next LSU Tiger that could be drafted is tight end Mason Taylor. Draft analyst and WWL Radio sports talk show Mike Detillier says Taylor is an excellent pass catcher but still has to work on his blocking.

Cut 17 (18)  “…second round pick.”

Saints GM Mickey Loomis did not provide any additional information on starting quarterback Derek Carr’s injured shoulder that reportedly could cost him his 2025 season. Loomis says they are still seeking clarity on the Q-B’s injury. The Saints have the ninth overall pick in tonight’s draft.

The Zurich Classic gets underway today at the TPC at Louisiana in Avondale, which is just outside of New Orleans. Masters champ Rory Mcilroy and Shane Lowry are the defending champs in the unique two-man event. Also, Zurich has extended its sponsorship of the PGA Tour event in New Orleans through 2030.

LSU men’s basketball point guard Curtis Givens has entered the transfer portal after averaging five points as freshman.

Saints General Manager Mickey Loomis confirmed starting quarterback Derek Carr has a shoulder injury and they are waiting on Clarity. In his pre-draft press conference, Loomis refused to answer any other questions about Carr. Loomis did say they are picking up the fifth-year option on wide receiver Chris Olave, which keeps him with the Black and Gold through 2026. But they are NOT exercising their option on right tackle Trevor Penning, so he’ll be a free agent after this season.

Former LSU and Neville High football star Will Campbell will become the second Tiger offensive lineman to be selected in the first round of the NFL draft tonight. Campbell was a three-year starter at left tackle for LSU and he told KNOE-TV sports that he’s eager to find out where he’ll start his professional career…

Alan Faneca is the only other former LSU offensive lineman selected in the first round when he was the 26th overall pick by the Pittsburgh Steelers.

A historic win for the Northwestern State Baseball team last night as they defeated LSU 13 to 3 in Alex Box Stadium. Demons head coach Chris Bertrand says it’s a great victory for their program…

It’s the first time LSU has been run ruled by a non conference opponent at Alex Box Stadium.

The Pelicans new executive vice president of basketball operations, Joe Dumars, believes he can build a winner in New Orleans. During his introductory news conference yesterday afternoon, Dumars was asked if he’s been told that he has to keep Willie Green as the head coach…

Dumars also did not give an indication on what the future holds for the often injured Zion Williamson.

Usually, it’s the LSU baseball team that is run ruling midweek opponents, but last night Northwestern State left Baton Rouge with a run rule victory as they upset the seventh ranked Tigers 13 to 3 in seven innings. Braden Benton hit a three-run homer in a six-run third inning as Northwestern took advantage of three errors by the Tigers and LSU pitching walked four and hit four batters.

Big upset in Lake Charles last nigth as Louisiana Christian, a division three school, defeated McNeese four to three. The Cowboys will look to regroup in Rio Grande Valley as they will play U-T-R-G-V this weekend.

Grambling at U-L Lafayette, Nicholls versus Southern and  ULM softball versus Grambling were all rained out.

Tonight…La Tech hosts ULM, the Cajuns host Nicholls, Southeastern is at 22nd ranked at Southern Miss.

The 62-year-old Joe Dumars says he had a good job working for the NBA in Manhattan. But the Natchitoches native has returned to Louisiana, and he was introduced yesterday as the Pelicans new executive vice president of basketball operations. Dumars says the Pelicans front office job was right place, at the right time…

It’s expected Dumars will keep Willie Green as head coach, but what he’ll do with Zion Williamson is a big question. Will he try to trade the former number one pick who is injured often.

The seventh ranked LSU baseball team is undefeated in midweek games and tonight they host Northwestern State. The Tigers are coming off a series victory over Alabama, while the Demons won a series last week against Lamar.

The Ragin Cajuns begin a five-game week tonight by taking on Grambling, who has won seven in a row. U-L Lafayette is coming off a series win over Old Dominion, winning the final game of the series 10 to nothing. Maddox Mandino from Minden led off the game and had three hits. Coach Matt Deggs plans to put Mandino in the lead off spot again tonight…

ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting the Saints really like Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart and could look to trade their second round pick, plus other picks to move back into the first round and draft Dart late in the first round after taking an offensive or defensive lineman with the ninth overall pick.

The ULM softball team leads the Sun Belt after sweeping Georgia Southern. The Brown twin sisters, Morgan and Meagan, are leading the Warhawks offensively. They are both hitting around .400 on the season. Coach Molly Fichtner says they push each other, and it makes the whole team better…

The seventh ranked LSU baseball team resumes its nine-game homestand tonight by hosting Northwestern State. The Tigers are 34-7, while the Demons are 24-17. LSU is coming off a series victory over Alabama, while Northwestern took two of three from Lamar. First pitch from the Box is at 6:30.

The Cajuns begin a five game week by hosting Grambling. The Tigers have won seven in a row, U-L Lafayette is four games under the five-hundred mark.

McNeese hosts Louisiana Christian, while Nicholls is at Southern.

D1 Baseball has LSU ranked seventh in the country.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting the Saints are looking to move up in the second round to pick a quarterback, possibly Jaxson Dart from Ole Miss. Schefter points out New Orleans has two third and fourth round picks, which can be used to move up from the 40th overall pick. Schefter says if the Saints do not select a quarterback with the ninth overall pick, they will select an offensive and defensive lineman.

The Ragin Cajuns baseball team plays five games at home this week after going on the road last weekend taking two of three from Old Dominion. Coach Matt Deggs team is 19 and 23 heading into tomorrow night’s game against Grambling…

Cut 20 (14) “…take advantage”

Grambling is playing really well, they’ve won seven in a row after sweeping Alcorn State.

Lafayette native and former LSU track star Mondo Duplantis has been named the 2025 Laureus World Sportsman of the Year. It’s considered one of the biggest prizes in sports. The only other track and field athlete to win the award was Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt. Duplantis won his second gold medal at the Olympic games last year and he’s broken his own pole vault world record three times since the last award ceremony.
