Zion Williamson set another career-high with 32 points but the Pelicans had their three-game losing streak snapped last night with a 123 to 118 loss to Oklahoma City. Turnovers were a problem for New Orleans as they committed 17 of them. All-Star Brandon Ingram also missed his third straight game with a sprained ankle. The All-Star break begins today, Williamson will play in tonight’s rising stars game in Chicago.

Louisiana Tech ended F-I-U’s three-game winning streak with a nail-biting 60-57 win over the Panthers. Amorie Archibald had 17 points and put the Bulldogs up for good with 2:30 minutes to go with a bucket.

Cedric Russell had a season-high 29 points, including a career-high seven 3-pointers for the Cajuns last night, but U-L Lafayette lost to South Alabama 78-75 in a game that featured 16 lead changes.

ULM ended a ten-game losing streak with a 74-71 win over Troy. Michael Ertel had 23 points. Also the first road win of the season for ULM.

LSU basketball coach Will Wade expects Charles Manning to play Saturday. He’s been out with a fractured foot and Wade is anxious to get another healthy body on the bench. The Tigers enter the weekend tied for first place in the SEC, with Kentucky and Auburn. Auburn beat Alabama in overtime last night.

The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s office has charged a Lafayette man with theft for overcharging a buyer for tickets to last month’s College Football National Championship game. Deputies say a victim from Shreveport thought he bought a pair of tickets in section 104 from Michael Dean Simmons at cost of 36-hundred dollars. But it turns out the seats were actually in the nose bleed and Simmons finally turned himself in yesterday.

The Pelicans take on the Thunder tonight in the final game before the All-Star break. All-Star forward Brandon Ingram is questionable with a right ankle sprain. He’s missed the last two games, but New Orleans still won. Memphis won again last night, beating Portland 111 to 104, so the Pels are five games back of the Grizzlies for the final playoff spot in the West.

Last night, Auburn beat Alabama 95-91 in overtime to move into a three-way tie with LSU and Kentucky for first place in the SEC. The Crimson Tide hit an SEC-record 22 three-pointers in the loss.

Nicholls won its fourth straight home game last night as the Colonels defeated Lamar 69-65. Dexter Mclanahan led the way with 19 points.

Northwestern State won its third straight, a 70-60 victory over Incarnate Word. The Demons host McNeese Saturday. Southeastern Louisiana lost its fifth straight as Sam Houston slammed the Lions 79-70.

Williamson had 31 points in 28 minutes as New Orleans beat Portland 138-117 for its third straight victory. The Pels will host the Thunder tomorrow their final game before the All-Star break.

The 25th ranked LSU men’s basketball team snapped a two-game losing streak last night with an 82-78 win over Missouri. All five starters scored in double figures led by Skylar Mays who had 23 points. Darius Days had 20 points and 10 rebounds. Kentucky also won last night, so the Tigers and Wildcats are tied for first place in the SEC. If Auburn beats Alabama tonight it will be a three-way tie for first place.

The A-P has learned that the Bensons’ foundation has given at least 62-million dollars to the Archdiocese of New Orleans and other Catholic causes over the past dozen years. Attorneys for about two dozen men suing the church allege the NFL franchise of of trying to conceal the names of certain clergy accused of sexual abuse. In a statement, Saints Owner Gayle Benson denies those claims.

Three teenagers have been arrested for the murder of 20-year-old Adrian Carradine of Bossier City, including a high school basketball star. On Monday, police arrested two teens, 18-year-old Raymond Henry of Bossier City and a 15-year-old female who was the driver. Bossier City Police spokesperson Traci Landry says 19-year-old Otis Smith, a senior on the Bossier High basketball team, was arrested yesterday

The contract says the two schools will receive five-point-one million dollars if they sell their full allotment of 30-thousand tickets.

LSU Football Coach Ed Orgeron told a Baton Rouge radio station that he anticipates new passing game coordinator Scott Linehan and offensive coordinator Steve Ensminger will be a great combination with the former NFL coach helping with third-down and red zone game planning.

LSU Football Coach Ed Orgeron has hired former Rams head coach Scott Linehan to be the Tigers new passing game coordinator. Linehan has also been a former offensive coordinator in Dallas, Minnesota, Miami and Detroit, working with quarterbacks like Dak Prescott and Matthew Stafford. Linehan has reportedly agreed to a two-year deal, worth 800-thousand dollars.

Taysom Hill tells an Associated Press reporter that he views himself as a franchise quarterback and if the Saints do not, he’ll have to leave. The versatile Hill is a restricted free agent this offseason and the Saints have hinted Hill could be the guy, if Drew Brees decides to retire.

The Pelicans host Portland tonight at seven PM. New Orleans will attempt to slow down the red hot Damian Lillard, who is averaging almost 42 points and nine assists in the last ten games. Both teams are chasing Memphis for the final playoff spot in the West.

LSU Football Coach Ed Orgeron has reportedly hired veteran NFL coach Scott Linehan as the Tigers new passing game coordinator. Linehan’s last job was with the Dallas Cowboys where he was the offensive coordinator in Big D from 2015 to 2018. But Dallas never had a passing attack ranked better than 16th in the NFL.

The versatile Taysom Hill says he views himself as a franchise quarterback in the NFL and if the right opportunity presented itself, he would leave the Saints. The 29-year-old is a restricted free agent, but there have been reports that the Saints could turn to Hill as their starting quarterback if Drew Brees retires.

Saints Owner Gayle Benson has released a lengthy statement that says the franchise is proud of the role they played in helping the Archdiocese of New Orleans with its child sexual abuse scandal. But plaintiffs suing the church say the Saints helped conceal names of clergymen who faced credible allegations.
