The Ragin Cajuns rolled up a season-high 614 yards of offense in a 44-34 win over Texas State on Saturday. Quarterback Levi Lewis threw for 332 yards and two touchdowns and Trey Ragas rushed for 131 yards and three scores. Coach Billy Napier says the offense needed to play well after giving up a season-high 34 points

After winning their last two games on the road, the Cajuns return home this Saturday to host Arkansas State for homecoming.

Louisiana Tech won a wild double-overtime affair with UAB on Saturday to snap a two-game losing streak. The victory gives the Bulldogs a chance to still win the Conference USA West Division.

ULM is still winless after losing to Appalachian State 31-13 and their top running back Josh Johnson left the game with a hamstring injury.

The Ragin Cajuns are ranked 27th in the A-P poll after beating Texas State 44-34 on Saturday night. Trey Ragas had three touchdown runs, while Levi Lewis threw for 332 yards and two touchdowns and he also ran for a score.

What kind of tricks or treats will see on Saturday as LSU hosts Auburn on Halloween Day at 2:30. This series is known for its memorable contests and the Fighting Tigers have won the last three games between these two teams. The last time they played at Auburn, Cole Tracy hit a 42-yard walk-off game winning field goal to give LSU a 22-21 win.

LSU Coach Ed Orgeron has seen his salary reduced by five-percent along with every other coach on campus as the university announces it’s facing an 80-million dollar loss in revenue because of the coronavirus pandemic. Bonuses for coaches have also been canceled.

The College Football Bowl Schedule is out and the Independence Bowl will be a part of the bowl season. The Indy Bowl will take place Saturday night at 6:30 in Shreveport. Army has already agreed to play in the game and they’ll face an opponent out of the Pac-12.

The LSU athletic department says it expects to lose 80-million dollars in revenue because of the impact the coronavirus pandemic has had on college athletics. That’s resulted in eight employees within the athletic department being laid off and coaches including Ed Orgeron taking a five-percent pay cut. Bonuses for coaches have also been canceled.

LSU Freshman Quarterback TJ Finley is set to make his first road start against Auburn. While the War Eagles offense features a freshman running back. Auburn Coach Gus Malzahn says Tank Bigsby’s emergence has helped get their running game on track…

The Bears have a 48-percent efficiency offensively in the red zone, which is the fourth-worst in the NFL and the Bears offense is dealing with injuries to key players. Starting center Cody Whitehair and wide receiver Allen Robinson did not practice yesterday.

Meanwhile, Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas returned to practice yesterday. Thomas was limited with ankle and hamstring injuries. Marquez Callaway also practiced on a limited basis with an ankle injury.

Saints wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders tells the Uninterrupted’s 17 Weeks Podcast on Sirius/XM that he will not play Sunday in Chicago, because of COVID-19. Sanders tested positive last week and he said on the podcast last Friday that his temperature reached 102-degrees. Sanders also said he had body aches and a weird loopy-like feeling.

Tonight’s NFL game is a match-up of NFC South teams as the Falcons visit the Carolina Panthers.

Even though LSU is expected to start freshman quarterback TJ Finley on Saturday against Auburn, the Bayou Bengals are still a three-point favorite to win. LSU will need to slow down Auburn freshman running back Tank Bigsby who has rushed for over 100 yards in his last three games. He had 129 yards rushing and two TDs versus Ole Miss last week.

The Ragin Cajuns are 16 point favorites to win on the road Saturday night at Texas State. The Bobcats are 1-and-6 and their only win is against winless ULM. Texas State plays two quarterbacks, Tyler Vitt and Brady McBride. Coach Billy Napier says McBride is a transfer from Memphis…

LSU will play Auburn on the road on Saturday and freshman quarterback T.J. Finley might once again be leading the Tigers offense.  Starting quarterback Myles Brennan continues to deal with the abdominal injury that he suffered during LSU’s loss to Missouri.  Finley seems to have earned the trust of the team after his great performance against South Carolina where he threw for 265 yards and 2 touchdowns, while adding another touchdown on the ground.  Coach Ed Orgeron says that despite the Finley’s good numbers, his poise is what stood out the most.

The New Orleans Saints continue to battle injuries of their own as a number of key players have gone down with injuries, including star receiver Michael Thomas, who has not played since week one.  Thomas and fellow Wide Receiver Emmanuel Sanders were both absent for last week’s contest against the panthers and have not yet returned to practice.  Thomas is suffering from a high ankle sprain while Sanders remains on the Covid-19 list after his positive test last week.  Both players are questionable for the Saints’ upcoming game against the Chicago bears.

UL-Lafayette is on the road again this Saturday against Texas State after traveling to UAB and snapping the Blazer’s 21 game home win streak a week ago.  The Ragin’ Cajuns are 4-1 on the season, but head coach Billy Napier says there is still room for improvement.

Louisiana Tech has released its men’s basketball schedule for the 2020-21 season.  The new schedule will consist of 27 games, including nine non-conference and 18 conference matchups.  The Bulldogs’ non-conference schedule includes a number of in-state opponents, including LSU and ULL.  Tech will host UT Arlington at home on Nov. 27 to open the season and also open conference play at home against Marshall on Dec 31.

On the other side of the ball, defensive tackle Apu Ika is reportedly looking at entering the NCAA transfer portal. Ika’s playing time has declined this season in LSU’s four-three defense.

In football recruiting news…the nation’s number one safety, Sage Ryan of Lafayette Christian, has announced he will make his college decision on Saturday. LSU, Clemson and Alabama are his top three choices. 24-7 sports reports Ryan will likely commit to the Crimson Tide on Nick Saban’s 69th birthday.

St. Thomas Thomas More receiver Jack Beche has de-committed from Vanderbilt after receiving an offer from LSU.

Now that Hurricane Zeta is out of here, the Saints will continue preparations today for Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears. The Bears are 5-and-2 and they’ve defended the pass well this season. Coach Sean Payton says Chicago has an excellent secondary…

The Saints top three wide receivers did not practice yesterday. Michael Thomas remains out and Coach Sean Payton did not provide an update on his injuries. Rookie Marquez Callaway missed yesterday’s practice with an ankle injury and Emmanuel Sanders remains on the reserve-COVID-19 list. Payton is not saying if Sanders can play Sunday.

The Bears best receiver and offensive playmaker Allen Robinson is questionable as he’s in concussion protocol.

In other LSU football news, sophomore defensive tackle Apu Ika will reportedly enter the NCAA transfer portal. Ika played in all 13 games last season at nose tackle, but in LSU’s four-three defense this year he’s seen limited action.

The nation’s number one safety, Sage Ryan from Lafayette Christian Academy, has announced he will announce his commitment on Saturday. Billy Embody with 24-7 sports is reporting that Ryan plans on attending Alabama.

Friday’s recently scheduled game between Byrd and West Monroe has been called off because of COVID-19 issues involving the Rebel football team.

New Pelicans head coach Stan Van Gundy says life was good as a TV analyst, but when he saw the Pelicans head coaching job come open, he knew that was the job he wanted. Van Gundy is a defensive-minded coach who has a 523-and-384 career record. He’s been an NBA coach for 12 season and in eight of those years, he’s led his team to the playoffs. Van Gundy is also outspoken about his progressive political views and frequently tweets and speaks about social justice. He says that won’t change now that he’s a coach again…

LSU football coach Ed Orgeron is unsure if quarterback Myles Brennan will play Saturday, but Coach O says his first-team Q-B is feeling better. But Brennan will not play against Auburn unless he’s 100-percent.

Meanwhile, LSU’s defense is still trying to figure out how to prevent giving up big plays. In last Saturday’s win over South Carolina, the Gamecocks had two rushes for 45 yards or more. Linebacker Damone Clark had just two solo tackles and fellow linebacker Jabril Cox had three. Cox says he and Clark know they can play better…

The Pelicans introduced new head coach Stan Van Gundy yesterday. Van Gundy has been out of the game for the past two years but has worked as a TV analyst. There were a number of high-profile head coaching jobs that opened up but he says New Orleans is the one he wanted.

In high school football, West Monroe and Byrd were looking for opponents this week and so the two north Louisiana schools decided to play each other. But West Monroe has pulled out of the game, because of COVID related issues with their team. The Rebels are hopeful they can still play longtime rival Ouachita Parish next week.

And the Los Angeles Dodgers are World Series Champions, they defeated Tampa Bay 3 to 1 last night to win their first title since 1988.
