No LSU baseball tonight as the Tigers game against Grambling has been cancelled because of the threat of rain. LSU will now look forward to hosting Arkansas this weekend. The Razorbacks team ERA is 3.75, 11th best in the country, right behind LSU, who is ranked 10th.

LSU is coming off a series in which they scored just seven runs against Texas A-and-M. Geaux 247 sports writer Glen West says there are several players who can perform better and the player on the top of that list is shortstop Steven Milam, who is hitting .205 in conference play.

LSU has really struggled against left-handed pitching. In the series against A-and-M, the Tigers posted a batting average of .214 against the Aggie lefties.

 

The tenth ranked LSU softball team will face 17th ranked Mississippi State in the SEC Tournament tomorrow morning With the NCAA Tournament right around the corner, Coach Beth Torina is hoping to build some momentum…

LSU is 12- and-12 in the SEC and on the verge of receiving a Top 8 National seed.

Louisiana Tech is the four seed in the Conference USA Tournament and they will play fifth seeded New Mexico State in Bowling Green, Kentucky tomorrow afternoon.

ULM’s Molly Fichtner has been named the Sun Belt Softball Coach of the Year. Fichtner has guided the Warhawks to their winningest season in over 25 years with a 34-21 record.

The Cajuns Emily Smith was named Sun Belt Freshman of the Year. In conference play, she batted a team-best .435 with seven home runs and 24 RBI.

The top safety in the spring transfer portal window has committed to LSU. A.J. Haulcy made his commitment public after visiting LSU this past weekend. The first-team All-Big 12 performer at Houston chose the Tigers over Miami, Ole Miss and SMU. On-3 sports-dot-com’s Matthew Brune says Haulcy is a senior, who has played a lot of football…

Ruston police have arrested a Louisiana Tech defensive back and charged him with contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Investigators say 20-year-old Jacob Fields was chaperoning a 15-year-old and 17-year-old who were visiting Tech for a recruiting event. At an apartment, Fields allegedly smoked marijuana with them and one of the teens had an adverse reaction to it. According to police, Fields then dropped the brothers off at a hotel where their mother was staying and the mother called police. Fields appeared in 12 games last season and had two interceptions.

Despite losing a series at Texas A&M this past weekend, the LSU Tigers actually moved up a spot in the RPI from nine to eight. LSU is 15-9 in the SEC and there are two more series left. The Tigers host Arkansas this weekend and then travel to South Carolina. Geaux 247 sports writer Glen West says if LSU wins both series, they will likely wrap up a Top eight national seed.

Vandebilt Catholic won a Louisiana record 16th state championship in softball on Sunday in Sulphur with a seven to five win over St. Charles Catholic. Terriers Coach James Spearman says his girls have been resilient all year and it was on display after falling behind two to nothing in the first inning…

Calvary Baptist won its fifth state championship in a row, John Curtis won its 13th overall. Other winners include Sam Houston, North Desoto Doyle, LaSalle, Menard, Quitman and Calvin.

The LSU baseball team fell only one spot the DI-baseball poll, despite dropping its series against Texas A-and-M. Tough loss yesterday for the Tigers as they could not hold on to a two-run lead in the eighth inning and lost six to four to the Aggies. Tough series for Zac Cowan as he suffered the loss in games one and three in the series. Yesterday, he gave up three run homer to Caden Sorrell in the eighth inning. The Tigers will host Grambling tomorrow.

It was also a rough weekend for Louisiana Tech and ULM. Both were on the receiving ends of sweeps, the Bulldogs were swept by Western Kentucky and the Warhawks were swept by Texas State.

The Ragin Cajuns they swept Georgia State. U-L Lafayette scored 28 runs in the three-game series and they out homered the Panthers eight to three. U-L Lafayette is now one game back of third place Troy and will visit Southern Miss this weekend. The Golden Eagles are in second place.

 

Former Houston safety AJ Haulcy has committed to the LSU Tigers. He becomes the 18th player to commit to LSU. Haulcy also visited Miami, but officially committed to LSU during his visit to Baton Rouge this past weekend. He was a first-team All-Big 12 selection last year and had five interceptions for the Cougars. The senior entered the transfer portal during the spring window.

LSU men’s basketball has signed Israeli guard Ron Zipper. He’s six foot five and averaged 11 points for a team in the Israeli Premier Winner League. The left-hander shot 36-percent from three-point territory. Coach Matt McMahon says Zipper is a highly skilled guard and an excellent three-point shooter.

At the State softball championships…Vandebilt Catholic won its 16 state championship after beating St. Charles Catholic seven to five in the Division Two select state title game. The 16 softball championships Vandebillt are the most in LHSAA History. John Curtis won its 13th title with a two to nothing win over St. Thomas More. And Calvary Baptist has now won five straight titles.

For the first time this season, the second ranked LSU baseball team lost a game in which they were winning in the eighth inning. Yesterday, the Tigers led 4-2 in the eighth inning, but the Aggies struck for four runs, highlighted by Caden Sorrell’s three-run home run off closer Zac Cowan. Big series win for A&M who is on the bubble to make the NCAA Tournament. LSU has more work to do to secure a top eight national seed.

Louisiana Tech will not repeat as Conference USA regular season champs after getting swept by Western Kentucky. ULM is in danger of missing the Sun Belt tournament after getting swept by Texas State.

But the Ragin Cajuns swept Georgia State and U-L Lafayette is back over the .500 mark as their overall record is 25-24 and they got a big series against Southern Miss this weekend.

Southeastern Louisiana baseball remains in first place in the Southland Conference after winning a series over Lamar. McNeese dropped a series to Stephen F Austin.

In non-conference action, Northwestern State swept Pepperdine, winning 15 to 12 yesterday as Samuel Stephenson hit two home runs. The Demons will host McNeese this weekend.

The LSU football team hosted the top safety in the transfer portal this weekend and AJ Haulcy committed to the Tigers, choosing LSU over Miami. Haulcy was a first-team All-Big 12 selection last season after recording 74 tackles, five interceptions and 13 passes defensed at the University of Houston.

At the state softball championships…Sam Houston won its first state title since 2015 by beating Dutchtown three to two. North DeSoto, Doyle, LaSalle, Quitman, and Calvin were also winners. On the select side, John Curtis, Vandebilt Catholic, Calvary Baptist and Menard were the winners.

No LSU game last night because of inclement weather in College Station, so the Tigers and the Texas A-and-M Aggies will play a doubleheader today at 2 PM. LSU is 14-7 in the SEC and in position to receive a top eight national seed, while the Aggies need a strong finish to the regular season to make a Regional.

The Cajuns defeated Georgia State ten to five. Tate Hess struck out a career-high 10 hitters as he was outstanding out of the bullpen. Conner Higgs hit his 33rd career home run, moving into fifth place in school history.

Texas State topped ULM 12 to 2. The Bobcats scored eight runs in the second inning, Warhawks starting pitcher Zach Shaw gave up seven runs.

Tough loss for La Tech, the Bulldogs scored four runs in the eighth to tie the game at eight, but Western Kentucky won it in the bottom of the ninth 9-8.

Former Memphis guard P-J Carter has signed with the LSU men’s basketball team out of the transfer portal. Carter only averaged five points a game last season. LSU will be Carter’s fifth school since 2021.

Louisiana Tech has signed Scooter Williams. He was East Texas A-and-M’s leading scorer last season. The six-foot-five guard averaged 11 points a game for the Lions. He’s also played several seasons of college basketball.

The Ragin Cajuns will hold their spring football game today at 10 AM.

Grambling football will kick off the 2025 season in the Shreveport Classic in Independence Stadium on August 30th by playing Langston. The Tigers are 16-3 and-1 all time in the city of Shreveport

The state softball tournament was halted by severe thunderstorms yesterday in Sulphur, so they’ll continue with semifinal action today and championship games will take place on Sunday.

The tenth ranked LSU softball team won its 40th game of the season last night by thumping eighth ranked Arkansas 13 to 2.

Because of inclement weather in College Station, tonight’s LSU-Texas A-and-M baseball game has been pushed back to 8 PM. The Tigers enter the series with a 14-7 SEC record and feeling good about themselves after winning a series over Tennessee last weekend and a run-rule win over Southeastern Louisiana. The Aggies are fighting for their postseason lives as they are 8-and-13 and A-and-M was swept last weekend at Texas.

Louisiana Tech is at Western Kentucky.

The Ragin Cajuns are at Georgia State this weekend. Start time for Saturday’s game has been moved up to 11 AM.

 

LSU men’s basketball has signed another player out of the transfer portal. The latest addition is Memphis guard P-J Carter, who averaged five points a game last season and shot 39-percent from three-point territory. Carter is six-foot-four and has been playing college hoops for while In 2023-24, he was at UTSA and prior to that two seasons at Georgia Highlands College and Campbell.

The Tigers are third in the SEC in pitching with a team ERA of 3.75 and second in hitting, with a team batting average of .312. Former LSU star and ESPN college baseball analyst Todd Walker says LSU’s offense is more than good enough to win it all…

First pitch tomorrow in College Station is at 6 PM but the weather forecast does not look good.

Other series of note, La Tech is at Western Kentucky, Southeastern hosts Lamar, the Cajuns are Georgia State and ULM visits Texas State.

Alexandria Senior High Football star J-T Lindsey is the 2025 Warrick Dunn Award winner. The award goes to the state’s best high school football player and ten finalists are recognized by the LHSAA Network. Lindsey led the ASH Trojans to an undefeated regular season and a trip to the state championship game. He says he’ll never forget his senior season…

Lindsey rushed for just under 25-hundred yards and 33 touchdowns.

The semi-finals of the state softball tournament are today in Sulphur. The LHSAA Network will televise three games, starting at noon with Notre Dame versus D’arbonne Woods. At 2:30 PM Brusly will battle Assumption and at 5 PM Mount Carmel faces St. Thomas More in a division one select semifinal. Tomorrow is championship Saturday and the LHSAA Network will televise the Division Three non select and Division Two select title games.

A&M was ranked number one in the preseason, but slumped offensively at the start of the season and they are 8-13 in the SEC after getting swept by Texas last weekend. The Aggies will start Ryan Prager on the mound. He has not been as good this year with a 4.04 ERA.

Louisiana Tech starts today in third place in the Conference USA standings, a game and a half back of Dallas Baptist for first place. The Bulldogs are at Western Kentucky who is in fourth place in the league.

The Ragin Cajuns are in fourth place in the Sun Belt with a 12-9 record. U-L Lafayette is at Georgia State this weekend. The Panthers have lost four in a row. ULM has lost three straight and the Warhawks are at Texas State.

In softball…ULM and Texas State are now tied for first place after the Warhawks lost to the Bobcats five to three last night. Mallory Wheeler threw a no-hitter last night as the Cajuns blanked Southern Miss two to nothing.

Arkansas won a wild game over LSU 12 to 9. The Tigers fell behind seven to nothing in the first inning, got within a run, but ended up losing by three.

Former Lady Tiger basketball stars Angel Reese and Hailey Van Lith return to the PMAC tonight as the Chicago Sky of the WNBA faces the Brazilian National Team in an exhibition game that begins at 8 PM.
