The 2nd ranked LSU baseball team begins a big SEC series against 8th ranked Texas tonight in Austin. LSU as a team is third in the country in hitting with a team batting average of .345. Coach Jay Johnson says the offense reminds him of 2023 national title team…

Running back John Emery wants to play one more year of college football. It would be his seventh. Emery was on the Tigers 2019 national championship team. Since then he played the Covid year, missed a year because of academics and last season only played one game as he tore his ACL in practice. It’s unknown if Emery will play at LSU as the Tigers have four scholarship running backs and could have a fifth if Trey Holly returns.

In other college baseball this weekend…ULM hosts 19th ranked Southern Miss. The Cajuns are at South Alabama, La Tech begins Conference USA play by visiting Sam Houston. The Bearkats are just 6-15. Southeastern Louisiana has won six in a row and the Lions host McNeese. Northwestern State visits UNO.

The Pelicans have another game in Minnesota tonight after upsetting the Timberwolves on Wednesday and the Southern women’s basketball team will take on top-seeded UCLA in the women’s basketball tournament.

The LSU football team has received a verbal commitment from a five-star recruit from Hattiesburg, Mississippi. 24-7 sports ranks Tristen Keys as the top wide receiver in the country for the Class of 2026. Keys also had offers from Tennessee, Alabama and Texas A-and-M.

Former five-star running back John Emery says he will play college football again next season. It would be Emery’s seventh season after spending the last six years at LSU. He suffered season-ending injuries the last two years. It’s unknown if Emery will return to LSU or play somewhere else next season.

Former Troy head coach Phil Cunningham has been introduced as the new head coach at ULM. Cunningham says the Warhawks will need to bring in talented players to compete in the Sun Belt, and the 56-year-old says he’s learned from the best when it comes to recruiting…

Cunningham was an assistant coach for Lefty Driesell at James Madison and Georgia State. He spent 12 seasons as an assistant coach at Mississippi State

The second-ranked LSU baseball team takes its 16-game winning streak to Texas where they’ll begin a three-game series against the eighth-ranked Longhorns. Texas had its 17-game winning streak snapped on Tuesday with a 12-inning loss to U-T-S-A.

LSU football has landed a commitment from the number one wide receiver in the Class of 2026 according to 24-7 sports. Tristen Key from Hattiesburg, Mississippi is listed at six-foot-three, 180 pounds. Key is the third receiver in LSU’s 2026 class. The other two are Kenny Darby from Airline High School and Jakai Anderson from McDonogh 35.

In college baseball….Southeastern Louisiana won its sixth in a row, a seven to one win over the Ragin Cajuns.

The second ranked LSU baseball team left for Texas this morning where they’ll play the eight ranked Longhorns in Austin in a Top ten matchup this weekend. Left-hander Conner Ware is excited for his first big SEC series…

Today begins the first round of the NCAA men’s basketball tournament. McNeese plays at 2:15 against Clemson. Cowboys Senior forward Christian Shumate is glad to be in the NCAA Tournament for a second straight year, but he wants the experience to last longer…

Phil Cunningham takes over as the new men’s basketball coach at ULM. Cunningham was an assistant for the Warhawks last season and replaces the retired Keith Richard (ree-SHARD). Cunningham says he plans to win right away at ULM…

LSU has received a commitment from a five-star wide receiver from Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Six-foot-three Tristen Keys selected the Tigers over Tennessee, Alabama and Texas A-and-M. He’s the seventh verbal commitment for the Class of 2026. According to 2-4-7 sports, Keys is the best wide receiver in the Class of 2026.

Southeastern Louisiana won its sixth in a row in baseball as the Lions defeated U-L Lafayette seven to one. Ben Robichaux, Ryan Brome and TJ Salvaggio each homered for the Lions who are 17-3. The Cajuns fall to 9-13.

The Pelicans pulled off an upset last night beating the Timberwolves in Minnesota 119 to 115. Zion Williamson had 29 points.

And the Southern women’s basketball team won its first NCAA Tournament game, beating U-C San Diego 68 to 56 in a First Four matchup. The Lady Jaguars will play top-seeded UCLA on Friday night.

The 12th seeded McNeese State Cowboys will look to pull off the upset this afternoon as they face fifth seeded Clemson in the first round of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. The Tigers were 18-2 in the A-C-C and have a significant height advantage over McNeese. Coach Will Wade says they must limit Clemson’s shots around the basket.

Once McNeese’s season ends, Wade is expected to move on as he’s reportedly agreed to be the next head coach at North Carolina State.

New ULM men’s basketball coach Phil Cunningham was introduced to the media yesterday and Cunningham says he wants to bring a winner to Monroe right away. He also plans to be active when it comes to promoting Warhawk basketball…

This is Cunningham’s second head coaching job. He was the head coach at Troy and took the Trojans to the NCAA Tournament in 2017.

The second ranked LSU baseball team improved to 21-and-1 on the season last night with an 11 to one win over New Orleans. Ethan Frey hit two home runs, including one that ended the game in the seventh inning because of the ten-run rule. The 21-and-1 mark represents LSU’s best record through 22 games since the 1986 team. The Tigers have also won 16 in a row, which is the longest streak for LSU since the 2017 College World Series team.

Louisiana Tech has won three of its last four after beating ULM six to two last night. The Bulldogs are at Sam Houston this weekend to begin Conference USA Play. Southeastern Louisiana puts its five-game winning streak on the line tonight when it hosts the Cajuns at 6 PM.

In women’s basketball, Southern takes on UC-San Diego in a 16-seed First Four NCAA Tournament matchup in Los Angeles. The winner takes on the tournament’s top overall seed, UCLA on Friday.

 

Multiple reports say McNeese men’s basketball coach Will Wade is moving on. Wade confirmed today he has spoken to North Carolina State about its head coaching vacancy and while he did not confirm he would be the next head coach of the Wolfpack, sources say it’s a done deal. Wade says he’s been transparent with his players about his future…

New U-L Lafayette men’s basketball coach Quannas White is predicting big things as he takes over a program that went 12-and-21 this season. White, who is still with Houston as they make a run for a national title, says he plans to bring in high character players…

The second ranked LSU baseball team easily defeated UNO 11 to 1 in seven innings last night. Jaden Noot allowed one run and struck out five in four innings to earn his first collegiate win. Ethan Frey hit two home runs and Jared Jones had four hits, including a solo home run. The Tigers are 21-and-1, their best start since 1986.

Louisiana Tech topped  ULM six to two as Sebastian Mexico had four RBIs. Northwestern state outscored Grambling 12 to nine as Rocco Gump hit his third home run of the season. Tonight, the Cajuns are at Southeastern.

One of LSU’s new defensive ends, Jack Plyburn, a transfer from Florida, believes he’s the best run stopping defensive end in the country. Plyburn says his goal at LSU is to become an elite pass rusher…

New Orleans native Will Clapp is back with the Saints after agreeing to a one year contract. The 29-year-old played his first four seasons in New Orleans, then two seasons with the Chargers and last year he was with the Bills. The Saints drafted Clapp in the seventh round of the 2018 NFL and he’s managed to appear in 66 games and make 22 starts in his career….

Clapp is expected to battle for playing time at left guard with the Saints.

Tomorrow is a big day for McNeese basketball at they face Clemson in the first round of the Men’s NCAA Tournament. Athletics Director Heath Schroyer says head coach Will Wade has brought great exposure to the program…

The second-ranked LSU baseball team had no trouble at all last night beating UNO. The Tigers scored six runs in the first three innings to defeat the Privateers 11 to one. Jared Jones homered and had four hits on the night. Ethan Frey hit two home runs. Jaden Noot gave up one run over four innings and struck out five for the win.

Louisiana Tech scored three runs in the first inning and went on to beat ULM six to two. Sebastian Mexico hit a two-run homer and also had a two-run single.

Top-ranked Tennessee lost for the first time this season as East Tennessee State beat the Volunteers seven to six in ten innings. Fifth-ranked Florida State also lost to Mercer.

At LSU spring practice… New tight end Bauer Sharp from Oklahoma, believes he’s the most versatile tight end in college football…

ULM will introduce its new men’s basketball coach today. Phil Cunningham served as an assistant coach last season for the Warhawks. Current ULM AD John Hartwell hired Cunningham as the head coach at Troy University in 2013 and in 2017 he led the Trojans to an NCAA Tournament appearance.

The Pelicans season keeps getting worse. Trey Murphy is out for the season after suffering a shoulder injury in Tuesday night’s loss to Detroit. Murphy was having a career year before tearing his labrum, averaging 21 points, five rebounds and four assists a game. The Pels are at Minnesota tonight.

The second ranked LSU baseball team will host UNO tonight. The Tigers have won 15 in a row and former Sulphur star Jake Brown continues to swing a hot bat. He was 7-for-13 at the plate last week with one home run, nine RBIs and four runs scored. First pitch is at 6:30.

Also tonight, Louisiana Tech hosts ULM. The Bulldogs have won 18 of the last 21 matchups. And Northwestern State is at Grambling State.

ULM has promoted Phil Cunningham to head men’s basketball coach. Cunningham was an assistant last season, and he was previously the head coach at Troy. Cunningham led the Trojans to the NCAA Tournament in 2017.

The LSU women’s basketball team is preparing for its first-round matchup against San Diego State, which will be played in the PMAC on Saturday night. Coach Kim Mulkey says Flau’Jae Johnson and Aneesah Morrow were at practice yesterday.

LSU football has added 16 players that were in the transfer portal and Coach Brian Kelly says they have the right mindset. Kelly says he’s noticed it during spring practice…

Tight end Juwan Johnson is back with the Saints after signing a three-year, 30-million-dollar contract. Johnson is coming off a season in which he caught 50 passes for 548 yards and three touchdowns, but he believes there’s another level he can get to…

Johnson says new head coach Kellen Moore is a big reason why he re-signed with the Saints.

Newly acquired defensive tackle Davon Godchaux says it’s a dream come true to play for the Saints. Last week New Orleans sent a 2026 seventh round draft pick to New England to acquire the former Plaquemine High and LSU star. He was a four-star prospect coming out of high school and started three years at LSU from 2014 to 2016. Godchaux says it’s a full circle moment…

Godchaux believes he can be a dominant run defender in the Saints 3-4 scheme.

At LSU spring practice, the Tigers return Aaron Anderson, Zavion Thomas and Chris Hilton at receiver, but there are also new additions in Barion Brown, Destyn Hill and Nic Anderson. Quarterback Garrett Nussmeier says it’s a good  group…

The LSU gymnastics team won the 2025 SEC regular season title with a win over Auburn on Friday. Senior Aleah Finnegan says it’s on to the SEC Gymnastics Championships in Birmingham, Alabama this Friday….

Oklahoma, LSU, Florida and Missouri are the top four seeds at the SEC Championships.

In the D-1 baseball poll, the LSU Tigers fell to number two despite starting off SEC play with a sweep over Missouri. Tennessee moved to the top spot because the undefeated Volunteers swept Florida. LSU hosts UNO tonight.

Also tonight, Louisiana Tech hosts ULM. The Bulldogs have won 18 of the last 21 matchups.

Northwestern State is at Grambling State. The Demons beat the Tigers 11 to 1 last week.

Saints tight end Juwan Johnson says first-year coach Kellen Moore helped convince him to stay in New Orleans. The 28-year-old re-signed with New Orleans last week agreeing to a three-year, 30.75 million dollar contract. Johnson says he also considered signing with Denver or Seattle, before deciding he wanted to stay in New Orleans…

The Pelicans lost by 46 points last night as the Detroit Pistons pounded New Orleans 127 to 81. The 46-point defeat ties a franchise record for largest defeat ever and the 81 points are the fewest points scored in a game.

The second ranked LSU baseball team hosts UNO tonight. The Tigers are 20-and-1, while the Privateers are 11-and-7 after sweeping Incarnate Word. First pitch is at 6:30.

 

Former LSU Tiger and Dunham Tigers star Derek Stingley has signed a contract to make him the highest paid cornerback in the NFL. The three-year, 90-million dollar extension includes 89-million dollars in guaranteed money.

Another former LSU Tiger, Jamarr Chase, who played at Rummel, has agreed to a four-year extension that makes him the highest paid non-quarterback in the NFL as his deal is worth 115 million dollars.

Current LSU receiver Chris Hilton missed the first seven games last season because of an ankle injury. When he returned, it took a few games to shake off the rust. Hilton finally found his groove in the regular season finale with two touchdown catches against Oklahoma and had four catches for 113 yards and a touchdown in the bowl game against Baylor. Hilton says he learned to trust God’s timing…
