LSU baseball and softball won big over U-L Lafayette last night. At Alex Box Stadium, the Tigers scored nine runs in the first inning and went on to beat the Cajuns 17 to four in seven innings. Jared Jones hit a grand slam to cap off the nine run first inning.

LSU softball spotted the Cajuns a four-run lead and then scored 11 unanswered runs to win 11-4.

Former Lafayette Christian football star Ju’Juan Johnson is spending spring practice at LSU at quarterback. Johnson started at LSU as a defensive back, moved to running back and now he’s at Q-B. Offensive coordinator Joe Sloan is impressed with his skill level…

Big win for Nicholls baseball last night as the Colonels upset 13th ranked Southern Miss eight to five in Biloxi. Nicholls grabbed the lead with a four-run seventh inning and Cole Poirrer from St. Amant High School pitched the final 2.1 innings for the save.

In Ruston, Louisiana Tech rallied back from a three-run deficit to beat Grambling 14 to six at the Love Shack. Garrison Berkley hit his third homer in the past two games and Coach Lane Burroughs says it’s good to see the left fielder swing the bat well…

Tech will host Kennesaw State this weekend, while Grambling is at Jackson State.

The eight-ranked LSU baseball team scored nine runs in the first inning on their way to a 17-4 win in seven innings over the Ragin Cajuns. In that first inning catcher Cade Arrambide hit a two-run home run and Jared Jones hit a grand slam. The Tigers also got a strong start from Jaden Noot who allowed one earned run in three innings. Coach Jay Johnson says Noot might be used in the upcoming series against Mississippi State…

In other action…Nicholls upset 13th ranked Southern Miss eight to five in Biloxi. Andy Miller finished a triple shy of the cycle as he had three hits and drove in two runs. Louisiana Tech defeated Grambling 14 to six. ULM upended Central Arkansas eight to one and Northwestern State over Centenary 11 to 1 and McNeese slammed Southern 15 to 5.

At LSU spring practice, the media got to hear from offensive coordinator Joe Sloan. Sloan talked about Mississippi State transfer Michael Van Buren, who is the Tigers second string quarterback. Sloan says it’s good to have a backup that started eight games in the SEC last year…

It didn’t take long for McNeese to hire a new men’s basketball coach and it’s someone former coach Will Wade knows really well. Bill Armstrong, who was a former associate head coach with Wade at LSU, will take over the Cowboys basketball program. Armstrong was an assistant at Baylor last season. Armstrong also spent six seasons as an assistant coach at Ole Miss.

The LSU women’s basketball team looked like one of the best teams in the nation last night as they outscored Florida State 31-6 in the third quarter as they blew out the Seminoles 101-71. LSU advances to play North Carolina State on Friday night in Spokane, Washington in the Sweet 16. Coach Kim Mulkey is eager to see if her team can get back to the Final Four…

In college baseball tonight…the eighth ranked LSU baseball team will look to snap its two-game losing streak as they host the Ragin Cajuns. U-L Lafayette’s Conor Higgs was named the Sun Belt Player of the Week today as he was 5-for-11 at the plate last week with three home runs and six runs driven in.

 

At LSU Spring football, Florida State transfer Destyn Hill from Edna Karr High School in New Orleans has been impressive to watch at practice. Hill is coming off a knee injury and Coach Brian Kelly likes his physicality…

For the third year in a row, the Lady Tigers are headed to the Sweet 16. LSU outscored Florida State 31-6 in the third quarter on their way to a 101-71 victory, in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Head Coach Kim Mulkey says a lot of focus will be on the third quarter, but the second quarter was equally important as Flau’Jae Johnson and Mikaylah Williams watched a good portion of the second quarter due to foul trouble. Mulkey said her bench players did their job.

Jada Richard had six points and forward Sa’Myah Smith had a huge game as she scored a season-high 20 points on nine of nine shooting. She also had 12 rebounds and six assists. Up next for LSU is North Carolina, who the Lady Tigers beat earlier this season in the Bahamas. The rematch is Friday night in Spokane. Washington.

Wide receiver Brandin Cooks is back with the Saints and has no regrets on how his first stint in New Orleans ended. The Saints drafted Cooks, who is now 31-years-old, in 2014 and he became a one-thousand yard receiver for the Black and Gold. But after three seasons, New Orleans traded Cooks to New England as there were reports Cooks was unhappy with his role as he was seeking a big contract. Cooks says he intentionally did not burn bridges when he left New Orleans…

The LSU baseball team had its 17-game winning streak snapped on Saturday and now it has a two-game losing streak after losing on Saturday and Sunday to Texas. In the D-1 Baseball poll, the Tigers are ranked eighth. Tennessee remains the number one ranked team followed by Arkansas and Georgia.

At spring practice on Saturday. LSU’s first-team offensive line was Tyree Adams, Paul Mubenga, DJ Chester at center, Coen Echols and Weston Davis. Transfers Braelin Moore and Josh Thompson were working mostly with the second team. Head Coach Brian Kelly says the competition to start on the offensive line is fierce…

The Will Wade era is over at McNeese State, and it was a ride. Wade led the Cowboys to back-to-back Southland Conference championships and two trips to the NCAA Tournament. He was out of coaching after being fired by LSU in 2022 because of recruiting violations. He sat out the 2022-23 season and was hired by McNeese in March of 2023…

Following Saturday’s NCAA Tournament loss to Purdue, Wade signed a six-year contract to be the new head coach at North Carolina State.

ULM needs a new women’s basketball coach as Missy Bilderback has taken the head coaching job at Southern Miss. And McNeese introduced Ayla Guzzardo as its new women’s basketball coach. Guzzardo spent the last eight seasons at Southeastern Louisiana, leading the Lady Lions to two of the last three Southland championships.

The LSU baseball team dropped six spots to number eight in the D-1 Baseball poll after losing its first series of the 2025 season. Texas took two of three from the Tigers as LSU’s pitching was not that sharp. Kade Anderson, Zac Cowan and Casan Evans pitched well, but others struggled with command.

LSU hosts U-L Lafayette tomorrow night. The Cajuns won two of three at South Alabama this past weekend. Southern Miss swept ULM, Louisiana Tech opened Conference USA play with a series victory over Sam Houston.

On Saturday, LSU football received a commitment Destrehan wide receiver Jabari Mack. The four-star wide out in the Class of 2026 also had offers from Texas, Texas A-and-M, Ohio State and Alabama. LSU has four receivers in its 2026 class, including the nation’s top wide out Tristen Keys.

LSU gymnastics is the number one seed heading into the NCAA post season after winning its second straight SEC Championship meet on Saturday night.

The second ranked LSU baseball team lost its first series of the year as they dropped the rubber game on Sunday to Texas six to two. LSU had a chance to win the series on Saturday, but the bullpen could not come through.

Louisiana Tech won its Conference USA opening series, the Ragin Cajuns took two of three from South Alabama. ULM was swept by 19th ranked Southern Miss. McNeese and Northwestern State went on the road and won Southland conference series.

Will Wade led McNeese to its first-ever NCAA Tournament win on Thursday, but they were no match for Purdue on Saturday as the Boilermakers beat the Cowboys 76 to 62…

Wade now heads to North Carolina State to be the new head coach of the Wolfpack.

LSU football worked a lot on its running game during Saturday’s spring practice. The Tigers ranked 107th in the country in rushing offense in 2024. Coach Brian Kelly says they will be more committed to the ground game in 2025…

And it doesn’t look like John Emery is returning to LSU. The former five-star running back from Destrehan announced last week that he plans to play a seventh season of college football, but Kelly said on Saturday his running back room is set with four scholarship players and possibly a fifth if Trey Holly returns.

The LSU women’s basketball team will look to advance to the Sweet 16 today as they face Florida State at the PMAC. ULM needs a new women’s basketball coach as Missy Bilderback has taken the head coaching job at Southern Miss.

The LSU Tigers won their 17th straight last night and improved to 4-0 in the SEC with a dominating eight to two win over Texas. Kade Anderson pitched like an ace as he struck out eight in six innings and held the Longhorns to two runs. Luis Hernandez homered and drove in three runs and Jared Jones also knocked in two runs. LSU goes for the series victory tonight at 6 PM.

 

Louisiana Tech edged Sam Houston six to five, as Sebastian Mexico had three hits and drove in three runs. Owen Galt drove in four runs, and the Ragin Cajuns defeated South Alabama seven to one. Andrew Hermann allowed one run in five innings for the save. 19th-ranked Southern Miss defeated ULM eight to five.

 

Southeastern Louisiana blanked McNeese six to nothing for its seventh straight win. Northwestern State won one to nothing over UNO, Nicholls knocked off UIW seven to one, and Grambling was a 12 to 7 winner over Texas Southern.

The Saints have brought back receiver Brandin Cooks on a two-year 13-million-dollar contract. New Orleans drafted Cooks in the first round in 2014 and he played his first three seasons in the Big Easy. Cooks was in Dallas the last two years and is coming off a career-low season, where he caught 26 passes for 259 yards and three touchdowns.

Former Saints quarterback Jameis Winston has signed a two-year deal with the New York Giants. New York is still expected to take a quarterback with the third overall pick.

McNeese will look to advance to the Sweet 16 in the men’s basketball tournament when they play Purdue at 11:10 AM today. Coach Will Wade says they’ll need to make their three-pointers…

The second ranked LSU baseball team has won 16 in a row, but they’ll face its biggest test of the season this weekend as they begin a three-game series tonight against eighth ranked Texas. The Tigers enter with a strength of schedule ranked 254th. They’ve only played two teams with a winning record. Texas is 17-and-2 and big crowds are expected in Austin. LSU second baseman Daniel Dickinson can’t wait…

The Saints are bringing back wide receiver Brandin Cooks as they’ve signed their first round pick in 2014 to a two-year contract. The 31-year-old has 710 career catches and 60 touchdowns.

 

The McNeese Cowboys will look to make history again on Saturday as they will try to advance to the Sweet 16. The Pokes won their first NCAA Tournament game in program history on Thursday with an upset win over Clemson. Coach Will Wade says Thursday’s win was life altering…

The LSU Lady Tigers will host San Diego State tomorrow night in the first round of the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament. Flau’Jae Johnson and Aneesah Morrow are healthy.

Southern women’s basketball team plays top-seeded UCLA tonight.

And the LSU-A men’s basketball team is in the NAIA National Championship Round of 16 and plays Bethel Indiana in Kansas City tonight.

Coach Will Wade is receiving a lot of attention and credit for the Cowboys first ever NCAA Tournament win, but he says he’s the low man on the totem pole…

So can the Cowboys advance to the Sweet 16? They will play Purdue tomorrow. The Boilermakers are a four-seed and defeated 13th seeded High Point 75 to 63 to advance to the second round.

 

Tonight the Southern Women’s basketball team will play top-seeded UCLA in Los Angeles.

 

The second ranked LSU baseball team begins an SEC series against eighth ranked Texas in Austin tonight. The Tigers have a team batting average of .345, third best in the country. Second baseman Daniel Dickinson is hitting .368 and gives credit to his mom’s camera work for helping him with his swing…

Texas will start a left-hander pitcher tonight and tomorrow and the Longhorns staff ERA is 3.22, tenth best in the country.

 

Louisiana Tech begins Conference USA play this weekend by visiting Sam Houston. The Bearkats are a disappointing 6-and-15 on the season.

 

Also, ULM hosts 19th ranked Southern Miss. The Ragin Cajuns are at South Alabama. Southeastern Louisiana has won six in a row and they host McNeese this weekend. Northwestern State is at UNO.
