The LSU Tigers finally start the second half of their season today as they face an improved Arkansas team who is three and four, after failing to win an SEC game in 2018 and 2019. LSU’s TJ Finley is expected to start at quarterback and the Bayou Bengals are hoping for a bounce-back performance from the freshman from Ponchatoula. Finley had three turnovers as LSU lost 48-11 to Auburn last time out. Tigers receiver Terrace Marshall expects Finley will do just fine today…

We’ll see if LSU can establish the run. The Razorbacks are allowing 183 yards on the ground this season. And LSU’s defense has to limit the big plays. The Tigers rank in the bottom nationally in three different explosive play categories. Kick-off is at 11 AM.

Multiple media outlets are reporting that Taysom Hill not Jameis Winston will start at quarterback in tomorrow’s Saints game against the Atlanta Falcons. Coach Sean Payton is not confirming those reports…

We do know that Drew Brees has been placed on injured reserve, so he’ll miss at least the next three games. And Saints cornerback Marshon Lattimore is questionable for this game with an abdomen injury. The Falcons enter the game with a three and six record, but Atlanta has won three of four since Raheem Morris took over as interim coach. Kick-off is at noon.

There will be an LSU-Arkansas game on Saturday but the Razorbacks are low on available players, because of positive COVID-19 cases and contact tracing. Maybe this is a game where LSU’s defense can turn its season around. But they will face a quarterback playing with a lot of confidence. Taysom Hill and not Jameis Winston will reportedly get the start at quarterback on Sunday when the Saints host the Falcons. It would be Hill’s first start at QB since a preseason game in 2018. Saints radio color analyst Duece McAllister says we know Hill can run with the football, but what about throwing it???

Reports are that Taysom Hill will get the Start at Quarterback for the Saints when they take on the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, in place of Drew Brees who is out with fractured ribs and a collapsed lung.  Running Back Alvin Kamara says they rallied around Teddy Bridgewater last season when Brees got hurt and they’ll do it again.

Kamara has not practiced much this week due to a foot injury but he says he’s good to go.

The LSU-Arkansas game is a go after the Razorbacks received their Covid-19 test results this morning.  Freshman Quarterback TJ Finley is expected to get the start for LSU. His last start versus Auburn did not go so well. But Tigers receiver Terrace Marshall believes Finley will bounce back.

The Tulane Green Wave lost a close one last night against Tulsa 30-24.  Tulane drops to 5-5 on the season with the loss.  If the Green Wave could’ve pulled out a victory, it would’ve been their second straight win against a top 25 team after beating Army 38-12 last week.  Tulane will host Memphis next Saturday.

NBA free agency will begin at 5 pm today, where teams can agree to deals with players who are on the open market.  With a lot of guards currently on the roster, The New Orleans Pelicans could target a center in free agency to add some much-needed size to the lineup.  There are a number of affordable big-men in free agency for the Pelicans to sign.  The team could also re-sign Derrick Favors, who played in the post for New Orleans last season.

Louisiana Tech lost their second player this week, as wide receiver Adrian Hardy will opt-out of the remainder of the season and prepare for the 2021 NFL draft.

Here we go again with the possibility an LSU football game will not be played because of COVID-19. The Tigers are set to play at Arkansas tomorrow, but there are positive cases within the Razorback football program. With contact tracing Coach Sam Pittman’s team is running low on available players. The Pelicans have tendered a nine-point-four million dollar qualifying offer to All-Star Brandon Ingram, which makes him a restricted free agent. The free agency period begins tonight at 5 PM. It’s expected New Orleans will sign a center.

Saints running back Alvin Kamara did not practice for a second straight day yesterday because of a foot injury. But Kamara spoke with the media yesterday afternoon and said he’s good to go.

A terrible 30-24 loss for Tulane last night as they blew a 14-point second half lead to 25th ranked Tulsa as the Golden Hurricane tied the game on a Hail Mary as time expired and then won it in double O-T on a pick six. The Greenies fall to 5-5.

In high school football last night, it was Oak Grove over Cedark Creek 52-22, Carenco won over Westgate 31-23.

The Arkansas football program is dealing with a coronavirus cases and contact tracing and Coach Sam Pittman said today they need good results tomorrow to play Saturday.

There is a college football game tonight, Tulane is at 25th ranked Tulsa. Last week the Green Wave beat Army, who was ranked in the coaches poll. A win tonight would give Tulane it’s first season with wins against two ranked teams for the first time since 1979.

The Pelicans used their first pick in last night’s NBA draft to select speedy point guard Kira Lewis Junior, who averaged nearly 19 points, five rebounds and five assists as a sophomore last season at Alabama. The Pels had four other picks, but all of those selections are involved in trades that will be finalized soon.

Former LSU Tiger and Baton Rouge native Skylar Mays was selected in the second round by the Atlanta Hawks.

There’s growing concern that high school athletics could be shut down again as more schools move to virtual learning and coronavirus cases continue to spike. But LHSAA executive director Eddie Bonine (Bo-nine) says he didn’t like shutting down track, baseball and softball last spring and does not plan on doing it again…

LSU will get a lot of players back from quarantine when they travel to Arkansas to take on the Razorbacks on Saturday, including quarterback Max Johnson.  Johnson is competing with TJ Finley for the starting job.  The quarterback position is not the only area that the tigers have uncertainty at, as the defense has been shaky all season.  Coach Ed Orgeron says LSU has been working to improve that side of the ball.

Jameis Winston and Taysom Hill are battling for the starting quarterback spot with Drew Brees sidelined.  Whoever wins the job will face off against an Atlanta Falcons defense that coach Sean Payton says, has shown a lot of improvement.

With the 13th pick in last night’s draft, the New Orleans Pelicans selected guard Kira Lewis Jr. from the University of Alabama.  Lewis was considered arguably the fastest player in the draft.  The former Crimson Tide standout averaged 18.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 5.2 assists per game.  The Pelicans also had the 23rd overall pick but it is involved in a trade.

Former LSU guard Skylar Mays heard his name called in last night’s draft when he was selected in the second round by the Atlanta Hawks with the 50th overall pick.

In college basketball news, LSU forward Shareef O’Neal has been granted immediate eligibility by the NCAA and will now be able to play for the Tigers this season.  Shareef is the son of former LSU and NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal and he signed with UCLA out of high school but left after his freshman year due to a medical condition.

Also, LSU basketball players Javonte Smart and Trendon Watford have been named to the preseason All-SEC team.

The 2020 NBA Draft is tonight and since New Orleans has reportedly traded guard Jrue Holiday to the Milwaukee bucks, they have 5 picks in this year’s draft, including 2 in the first round.  With the departure of Holiday, Jake Madison from the Locked On Pelicans podcast believes the Pels could have their eye on a guard in the first round.

Cut 28 (17) “very aggressive”

Saints Quarterback Drew Brees got a second opinion on his rib injuries and it’s not good news.  The second exam confirmed the original diagnosis that Brees sustained five rib fractures as well as a collapsed lung.  The diagnosis means that the Saints Quarterback will definitely miss time but the team has not yet decided whether or not Brees will be placed on injured reserve.  Placing Brees on IR means that he would have to sit out a minimum of three weeks.  Brees is not the only player who missed practice, Cam Jordan missed due to a back injury while Josh Hill and Tre’Quan Smith deal with concussions.

The Ragin Cajuns home finale against Central Arkansas on Saturday has been cancelled due to Covid-19 issues with the Ragin Cajuns football program.  A total of 33 student-athletes are in the program’s Covid-19 safety program.  The team’s next game is scheduled for Saturday, November 28th at ULM at 2pm.

The Pelicans have reportedly traded star guard Jrue Holiday to the Milwaukee Bucks.  In exchange for Holiday, the Pelicans received guards Eric Bledsoe and George Hill, as well as a number of future draft picks.

The Pelicans have five picks in tonight’s NBA draft, including two in the first round at 13 and 23.  Jake Madison from the Locked On Pelicans podcast says, With a plethora of picks at their disposal the Pelicans could be very active on draft day.

During the coaches teleconference, Ed Orgeron said LSU’s season opening starting left tackle Dare Rosenthal has re-joined the team and practiced yesterday.

Louisiana Tech has lost its starting left tackle for the second time this year as Donavaughn Campbell has decided to opt out the remainder of the season and enter his name into the NFL Draft.  Campbell joined the Bulldogs after transferring from LSU and was set to start at right guard, but switched to tackle after Willie Allen transferred to Michigan.
