The LSU Tigers have advanced to the Super Regional after grabbing a 9-8 win over Oregon in a winner-take-all game.  The Tigers took the lead for the good with a three-run eighth. The go-ahead run scored when Oregon pitcher Kolby Somers balked to bring Cade Doughty home from third.  The Tigers hit three home runs on the night, one by Drew Bianco and two by Gavin Dugas.  LSU will now get ready to play Tennessee and coach Paul Mainieri has at least one more weekend in the dugout. But the hall of fame coach says this postseason run should be about the players…

The Tigers will play a best of three series in Knoxville.  Game one will take place on Saturday at 6 p.m. followed by 11 a.m. or 2 p.m. on Sunday, then a game three on Monday at either 3 or 6pm if necessary.

College athletes in Louisiana would be able to profit from their name, image, and likeness under a bill that is very close to final legislative approval after the House approved the measure on an 88-7 vote.  Marrero Senator Patrick Connick says this bill is important because it ensures that Louisiana schools are not at a competitive disadvantage when it comes to recruiting student-athletes…

Reports state that new LSU offensive line coach Brad Davis received a three-year contract that will pay him an average of $830,000 per year.  It also includes up to $75,000 in postseason incentives.  The Baton Rouge native made $650,000 in his one season at Arkansas.

The LSU Tigers are headed to the Super Regionals after winning a wild nine to eight win over the Oregon Ducks in the Pacific Northwest. The Tigers took the lead for the good with a three-run eighth. The go-ahead run scored when Oregon pitcher Kolby Somers balked to bring Cade Doughty home from third. LSU’s Landon Marceaux was the winning pitcher as the Friday night starter came out of the bullpen on two days rest to get the final seven outs.

Legislation to allow college athletes to profit off of their name, image and likeness received approval in the Louisiana House on Monday. The Senate still needs to approve House changes. Marrero Senator Patrick Connick says his measure would allow student-athletes to receive compensation for sponsorships, endorsements and even social presence. Connick says another way athletes can make money is through a licensing agreement…

Over a dozen states have passed similar legislation, while Congress can’t agree on an N-I-L bill to bring uniformity to college sports.

If you were hoping NIck Saban would retire soon, you’ll be disappointed to learn the Alabama coach has signed a three-year contract extension that will run through the 2029 season. Saban’s base salary will be eight-point-four million dollars.

The LSU Tigers are still alive in the Eugene Regional after winning two games yesterday, The tigers took down Gonzaga nine to four before defeating Oregon four to one. If LSU can beat Oregon tonight, they will advance to the super regionals to play Tennessee in Knoxville. Mainieri says he’s not ready to retire yet…

Another SEC has already advanced in the tournament as Mississippi State took care of business in the Starkville regional and will now host Notre Dame in the Super Regional. The Bulldogs will have a tough challenge ahead of them, as Notre Dame has scored 50 runs in the last three games.

Alabama football coach Nick Saban has received a contract extension that will take him through the Crimson Tide’s 2028 season. Saban is set to make over 8.4 million this season.
Also, The Alabama football program has received a commitment from four-star running back Le’Veon Moss of Istrouma High School.

The LSU Tigers are still alive in the Eugene Regional after winning two games yesterday, nine to four over Gonzaga and four to one over Oregon to set up a winner take all game tonight against the Ducks.  Devin Fontenot pitched two shutout innings for his fifth save. Gavin Dugas led the Tigers offensively with a home run and a triple that could have been ruled as an inside the park home run. Mainieri was glad to see Dugas have a big game after a quiet start to the regional.

LSU Eunice won a 14 inning classic over Western Oklahoma State for a 5-4 to claim the junior college national championship.  Eunice jumped out to a three to one lead but had to score two runs in the ninth inning to send the game into extra innings of this classic championship game.  The was a winner-take-all matchup in a best of three series.  This is the programs seventh JUCO championship.

The Southern Jaguars baseball season has come to an end.  Fairfield defeated Southern 6-2 in the losers bracket of the regional.  The Jags finished this season 20-30 with a SWAC tournament title.

McNeese is heading home from the Fort Worth regional after a 10-5 loss to Oregon State.  McNeese finishes with a 32-29 record

A dream season for Louisiana Tech fans ended last night with a 14-7 loss to North Carolina State in the championship round of the Ruston Regional. The Bulldog baseball team beat Alabama ten to eight and had a four to nothing lead over N-C State, but Tech’s pitching couldn’t hold the Wolfpack down. N-C State also beat La Tech on Saturday night.

The Bulldogs finished with a record of 42-20, won the Conference USA West, and hosted the first Regional in school history. Coach Lane Burroughs says they are just getting started

The LSU baseball team lost its opening game in the Eugene regional 3-0 to Gonzaga.  LSU pitcher Landon Marceaux threw five and two thirds innings and gave up three runs.  The Tigers struggled at the plate, managing just four hits against Gonzaga pitcher Alek Jacob, who threw a complete game shutout.  The Tigers will now face off against Central Connecticut in an elimination game at 3 p.m.

Regional host Louisiana Tech blew out Rider last night 18-2 in their first game of the Ruston Regional.  Pitcher Jonathan Fincher threw 8 innings and gave up two runs.  The Bulldogs were led offensively by third baseman Hunter Wells, who went 4-5 at the plate with nine RBI’s.  Tech will play NC State at 6 p.m. for game two.

The Southern Jaguars faced off against the Texas Longhorns in their first game of the Austin Regional and lost 11-0.  The Jags struggled against Longhorn pitcher Tristan Stevens, who threw seven shutout innings, allowing just four hits and striking out six batters. They will take on Fairfield at 1 p.m.

McNeese jumped out to an early 2-0 lead against TCU but couldn’t hang on as the fell to the Horned Frogs 12-4.  Cowboys pitcher Jonathan Ellison threw four and two thirds innings, giving up just one run.  First baseman Jake Dickerson had a solid game at the plate, going 2-3 with an RBI.  The Cowboys will take on McNeese at 12 p.m.

In football news, LSU has reportedly hired Brad Davis to replace James Cregg as the team’s new offensive line coach.  Davis spent last season at Arkansas after being at Missouri from 2018-2019 and Florida in 2017.  Davis is a Baton Rouge native and attended Belaire High School.

The Southland conference is reportedly targeting four HBCU’s in Prairie View, Texas Southern, Grambling, and Southern as potential new members to the conference.  After five schools announced plans to leave the Southland conference for other leagues, the conference has been searching for possible replacements.  The location of these four schools align perfectly with the Southland’s geographic footprint.

One day after firing offensive line coach James Cregg, LSU has apparently found his replacement. Baton Rouge native and former Arkansas offensive line coach Brad Davis has reportedly been hired as the team’s new offensive line coach.

LSU has announced its parting ways with offensive line coach James Cregg. Cregg has been the Tigers o-line coach since 2018 and in 2019 LSU’s offensive line was awarded the Joe Moore Award, which goes to the nation’s top blocking unit. But last season, the Tigers were just 5-and-5.

Former LSU Tigers Kevin Faulk and Brade James are on the 2022 College Football Hall of Fame ballot. So is former Louisiana Tech Quarterback Matt Dunigan, wide receiver Roger Carr, and coach Maxie Lambright.

Tomorrow, LSU Baseball begins Regional play. Centerfielder Giovanni Digiacomo re-aggravated his hamstring injury in the final regular-season series. Coach Paul Mainieri says Gio has been practicing and he expects he’ll get the start on Friday night against Gonzaga…

Ruston Mayor Ronny Walker says the whole city is proud of what the Bulldogs have accomplished and they expect the Love Shack to be packed for the Tech games…
