18th ranked Louisiana Tech could not hold on to a three-run lead, but still ended up with a victory as the Bulldogs beat UTSA seven to six in 12 innings. The Roadrunners scored one run in the eighth and two runs in the ninth to tie game. But a Hunter Wells home run in the 12th inning won it for Tech, ending the longest game in Conference USA Tournament history, four-hours and 59 minutes.

The Ragin Cajuns trounced Texas State 12 to 6. U-L Lafayette scored five runs in the first. If they beat Appalachian State on Friday they advance into the Sun Belt semifinals.

In Hammond at the Southland Tournament, Southeastern Louisiana and McNeese will play in a winner’s bracket game tonight. The Cowboys clobbered UNO 12 to nothing as Will Dion held the Privateers to one hit in seven innings and Clayton Rasbeary hit two home runs. Evan Keller’s home run in the eight helped the Lions get past Northwestern two to one.

All LSU baseball can do is sit and wait to find out if they get in the NCAA Tournament. The Tigers were ousted from the SEC Tournament after one game when they lost to Georgia on Tuesday night. LSU has a 13 and 17 record in the SEC and Coach Paul Mainieri thinks a lot about all of the close games they lost….

LSU softball begins its super regional series tonight against Florida State. It’s the third time these two schools have met in the Super Regionls in recent history. LSU beat Florida State in the Supers in 2017, but the Seminoles won in 2018. Both of those series were played in Tallahassee. First pitch tonight is at 6 P-M.

And for the second straight year, the LSU-Alabama football game will not be shown by CBS on primetime.

The LSU baseball team is one and done in Hoover, Alabama for the SEC tournament.  The Tigers suffered a 4-1 loss to the Georgia Bulldogs in the single elimination round.  All of the scoring occurred in the first inning as LSU put up one in the top of the first before Georgia responded with four runs.  LSU will now have to hope that their performance this season was good enough for an NCAA tournament birth.

The Ragin Cajuns baseball team is ready for the Sun Belt tournament.  The tournament’s format is different, as the 12 conference teams are in four pools or divisions, with three teams each.  The team with the best record in that pool after two games will advance to the semi-finals. Coach Matt Deggs on the round-robin format.

The Conference USA Baseball Tournament starts today at J-C Love Field at Pat Patterson Park in Ruston.  Louisiana Tech is scheduled to face UTSA today. Bulldogs coach  Burroughs says hosting the tournament will help them this week, it will also benefit the program down the road as players from around the league will get to see their new park

Tulane has advanced into the winner’s bracket of the American Athletic Conference Championship after beating Houston four to one. The Green Wave’s next game is Thursday against Wichita State.

The New Orleans Pelicans pick tenth in the NBA draft unless they do well in the lottery. They have a four-percent chance of landing the top pick and a 20-percent chance of getting a top-four pick.

The LSU baseball team’s stay at the SEC Tournament is over after just one game as the Tigers fell to Georgia four to one in an elimination game. The Bulldogs scored all of their runs in the first inning, while LSU scored just one run despite having the bases loaded in the first and eighth innings. The Tigers will now see if their 34-21 record is good enough to get in the NCAA Tournament.

ULM lost its opening game of the Sun Belt Tournament falling to Georgia State nine to six and because of that defeat, they’ve been eliminated from semifinal contention.

Saints Coach Sean Payton says 87-percent of the players on their roster are participating in organized team activities. There was talk of players skipping these training sessions after having a virtual 2020 offseason. Coach Sean Payton says they are not doing any work on the field, instead the focus is on strength and conditioning.

Speaking of O-T-As, Joe Burrow was in uniform and throwing footballs as the Bengals were doing work on the field today. There’s video of the Heisman Trophy winner once again throwing passes to first-round pick JaMarr Chase. Burrow is recovering from a significant knee injury that ended his rookie season last December. He’s expected to be ready for the 2021 regular season opener.

Conferences are handing out postseason awards. Cajuns Catcher Drake Osborn has been named Newcomer of the year. The transfer from Texas A-and-M Corpus Christi is hitting .333 with 22 RBIS and a pair of home runs.

Louisiana Tech second baseman Taylor Young has been named Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year. He’s the only infielder in the conference with a perfect one-thousand fielding percentage.

Former LSU quarterback TJ Finley has announced that he will transfer to Auburn to continue his football career.  Finley started five games last season as a freshman, throwing for 941 yards with 5 TD’s and 5 interceptions.  He will compete will Bo Nix for Auburn’s starting quarterback job.

Marceaux says he is 100-percent after only pitching four innings last Thursday because he didn’t feel well. First pitch is at 4:30.

Payton says they are not on the field, instead they are using that time in the weight room and conditioning. One guy that’s definitely not there is Drew Brees, who announced his retirement in March. Former LSU Quarterback TJ Finley is continuing his college career at Auburn. Finley, who started five games last season for the Tigers, will remain a Tiger, but he’ll play for the Tigers on the Plains and compete with two-year starter Bo Nix for starting quarterback duties.

Former LSU Quarterback T-J Finley is heading to Auburn as he’ll compete with Bo Nix to be the War Eagles starting quarterback. Finley announced earlier this month he was transferring after starting five games in 2020 for the Bayou Bengals. But after spring practice, Finley found himself number three on the depth chart behind Max Johnson and Myles Brennan.

LSU baseball is the nine seed in the SEC Tournament, which starts tomorrow in Hoover, Alabama. The Tigers are on the bubble to make the NCAA Tournament, but Coach Paul Mainieri is proud of how his team has overcome a lot of challenges…

Saints president Dennis Lauscha said in an interview on the team’s website that they expect 100-percent full attendance at home games inside the Superdome in 2021. Lauscha also noted that getting as many people vaccinated as possible is a priority for the franchise.

Former Rummel and Nicholls defensive back Quinton “Pig” Cage” has tranferred to LSU. Cage says he will be a preferred walk-on after making 30 tackles, eleven for a loss, in seven games for the Colonels this past spring.

Former LSU Quarterback T-J Finley announces he’s transferring to Auburn. Finley made five starts for the Tigers last season, winning two of those games against South Carolina and Arkansas. Finley did not play well in a blowout loss to Auburn last fall.

After winning the Baton Rouge Regional with an eight to five win over the Ragin Cajuns on Sunday in a winner take all matchup, LSU softball will host a Super Regional Series against Florida State. The best of three series will begin Thursday night at Tiger Park.

LSU softball is heading to the super regionals after an eight to five win over U-L Lafayette in a winner take all game in the Baton Rouge regional yesterday. The Cajuns forced a Game Seven of the Regional by winning two to nothing earlier in the day. The Tigers will host Florida State this weekend.

Southern won the SWAC Tournament Championship with a dramatic seven to six win over Jackson State. O’Neil Burgos hit a three-run homer in the ninth to beat a Jackson State team that was 24-0 in SWAC play.

LSU is the nine seed in the SEC Tournament that starts tomorrow. The Tigers beat Texas a-and-M on Saturday eight to two to finish 13-and-17 in the SEC. LSU got another great start from senior right-hander MaKhail Hilliard…

The Fighting Tigers baseball team fought back from a four-run deficit to beat Texas A-and-M 12-6 in 13 innings last night. Cad eDoughty hit a three-run homer in the fifth inning to tie the game and pinch hitter Zach Arnold broke the six-six tie with a pinch-hit two-run single. LSU’s bullpen also pitched very well and Devin Fontenot received the win by throwing three scoreless innings. The win clinches a spot in the SEC Tournament and it was also win number 15-hundred in Paul Mainieri’s career.

For the second straight night, 14th ranked La Tech could not preserve a lead as they gave up four runs in the eighth inning and fell to 20th ranked Old Dominion eight to seven to finish the regular season with a 36-16 record.

The Ragin Cajuns can still win at least a share of the Sun Belt Western Division after topping Troy three to two last night. They go for the series victory over the Trojans today at 4 PM. ULM was a ten to seven winner over Arkansas State.

McNeese has clinched a spot in next week’s Southland Tournament in Hammond after sweeping a doubleheader over Central Arkansas. The Cowboys won the second game in extra innings as Cooper Hext hit a solo home run in the tenth inning.

Nicholls will not be a part of the Southland Tournament after getting swept by Sam Houston. Houston Baptist also swept Southeastern Louisiana.

Southern will play Prairie View A-and-M at 3 PM in the SWAC Tournament. The Jaguars won two games yesterday, beating Alcorn State ten to five in the afternoon and they pounded Prairie View 24-3 last night. Tremaine Spears homered and drove in five runs. The winner of this game will play Jackson State tomorrow, who eliminated Grambling yesterday.

At the NCAA Softball Regional in Baton Rouge, the Tigers and Cajuns will meet in a winner’s bracket game today at 2 PM. LSU defeated McNeese 10 to 2 in six innings, while U-L Lafayette needed 11 innings to defeat George Washington one to nothing.
