Louisiana Tech failed to score a touchdown in a 19-3 loss to Texas-El Paso on Saturday. Bulldogs quarterback Austin Kendall threw for 164 yards and he was intercepted three times. Coach Skip Holtz says it was a disappointing performance…

The loss drops Tech’s record to two and four they’ll host undefeated and 24th ranked UTSA this Saturday.

Also this week, the Ragin Cajuns are at Arkansas State for a Thursday night matchup on ESPN-U. After a big upset win over Liberty, ULM is home again this Saturday to host South Alabama. Both teams are 1-and-2 in the Sun Belt.

Ninth-ranked Southeastern Louisiana will look to remain undefeated in the Southland when they visit Northwestern State for a 3 Pm kick-off in Natchitoches.

The termination agreement calls for LSU to pay Orgeron his full buyout, which is nearly 17-million dollars. The LaRose native will also coach the team if they play in a bowl game and he’ll continue to keep recruiting high school prospects…

A day before LSU and Ed Orgeron announced their separation, the Tigers football team pulled off a spirited win over Florida. The defense forced four turnovers, which resulted in 21 points. Senior linebacker Damone Clark had a game-sealing I-N-T late in the fourth quarter. Clark says a player’s only meeting led by injured defensive end Andre Anthony put the team in the right mind frame…

Today LSU running back Ty Davis-Price was named SEC Offensive Player of the Week. He set a school record on Saturday by rushing for 285 yards in a single game.

ULM scored a huge upset as the Warhawks beat Liberty 31-28. Calum Sutherland kicked a career-long 53-yard field goal late in the fourth quarter. The first field goal by a ULM kicker that was 50-or-more yards since 2014.

ULM was a 32.5 point underdog heading into Saturday’s game against Liberty but the Warhawks put out the Flames with a 31-28 victory in Monroe. ULM trailed 14-0 at half but exploded for 28 points in the third quarter. Chandler Rogers threw two touchdown passes. Coach Terry Bowden says Rogers is figuring it out after signing with the school in the summer

Also on Saturday, UTEP trounced La Tech 19-3. Southeastern Louisiana dominated Houston Baptist 61-24, McNeese defeated Northwestern State 35-17 and UIW knocked off Nicholls 38-21, Grambling and Southern were both winners.

A short-handed LSU team is set to take on 20th ranked Florida at 11 AM on Saturday. The Bayou Bengals will be missing five starters on defense. Defensive linemen Ali Gaye and Joseph Evans are the two latest Tigers who have been ruled out for the year because of injuries.

The Tigers are an 11.5 point underdog and because of the team’s recent performance and early kick-off time, you can expect plenty of no-shows. Stubhub’s Adam Budelli says they have tickets as cheap as 20-dollars on their site for the Florida game…

Budelli says they have 42-hundred tickets available for sale at Stubhub and the average price for a ticket sold is 180-dollars.

Southeastern Louisiana, Grambling and Northwestern State also have home games on Saturday. The Lions host Houston Baptist, Grambling takes on Texas Southern and the Demons welcome the McNeese Cowboys to Turbin Stadium.

Louisiana Tech returns from a week off to take on UTEP on Saturday night in El Paso. The Bulldogs are two and three and won their only conference game of the year, a 24-17 victory over North Texas. Coach Skip Holtz is glad the non-conference games are done…

UTEP is 5-and-1 and the Miners are off to their best start since 2019. UTEP’s defense ranks 16th in the FBS as they allowing just 300 yards a game. The kick-off is at 8 PM.

The Saints are off this Sunday and they will not play again until a week from Monday when they visit the Seahawks. Seattle plays on Sunday night this weekend as they play the Steelers in Pittsburgh. Russell Wilson’s streak of 149 straight starts will come to an end as the Seahawks quarterback had finger surgery and he’ll miss the Saints game too.

Orgeron signed a six-year, 42-million dollar contract after winning the national championship, and based on that deal he would be paid 21-million dollars if he was let go during the season and 17-million dollars on December 1st. The Tigers host Florida on Saturday and Orgeron announced yesterday that defensive linemen Ali Gaye and Joseph Evans will miss the rest of the season because of injuries. The Tigers will play the Gators without five defensive starters.

Last night in high school football, St. Charles Catholic scored a late touchdown to beat Newman 12-7. Alexandria Senior High pounded Pineville 42-7, Byrd beat Benton 45-17 and Lafayette Christian topped Notre Dame 27-10.

Louisiana Tech is back in action tomorrow as the Bulldogs will visit the UTEP Miners. Texas-El Paso is 5-and-1 and they are 2-and-0 in Conference USA. Bulldogs Coach Skip Holtz says they are one of the top defensive teams in the league…

Pelicans All-Star Zion Williamson will not be healthy enough to play when the regular season starts next week. Vice President of basketball operations David Griffin said at the start of training camp that they hoped Williamson would be ready for the regular-season opener after breaking his foot in the summer, but now his injured foot will not be re-evaluated again for another two weeks.

The Saints are off this Sunday, but the team they are chasing in the NFC South, Tampa Bay is at Philadelphia to take on the Eagles.

Bengals Quarterback Joe Burrow has been told to preserve his voice as much as possible, after suffering a throat contusion in a loss to the Packers. Cincinnati is at winless Detroit this Sunday.

Another LSU starter is out for the season as a result of an injury. Coach Ed Orgeron announced today that sophomore cornerback Eli Ricks needs surgery on a nagging injury, which will end his 2021 campaign. Ricks joins Andre Anthony and Kayhson Bouttee as starters who have seen their seasons cut short due to injuries. Center Liam Shanahan was asked about losing Boutte for the rest of the season….

Quarterback Levi Lewis led the Cajuns offense as he threw for 209 yards and a touchdown and U-L Lafayette had 242 rushing yards.

Saints cornerback Marshon Lattimore has been named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week. Lattimore broke up a career-high six passes in New Orleans win over the Washington Football Team. But Punter Blake Gillikin did not win Special Team honors even though he had three punts of 53 yards or more downed inside the three-yard line.

There was a bright spot in LSU’s loss to Kentucky on Saturday. The Tigers running game finally got going as junior running back Ty Davis-Price rushed for a career-best 147 yards and two touchdowns. Davis-Price says his offensive line did the hard work…

More bad injury news for the LSU Tigers. Coach Ed Orgeron announced today that Eli Ricks will miss the rest of the season with an injury. Coach O says it’s been a nagging injury that they decided needed surgery.

Conference USA has reportedly asked the American Athletic Conference to consider a reorganizing plan that would lead to two new conferences split into geographic lines. But the A-A-C is reportedly not interested and has reportedly tried to take UAB away from Conference USA.

The Saints have another kicker. The team released Cody Parkey after just one game as he received an injury settlement. So New Orleans signed Brian Johnson off the Chicago Bears practice squad as Will Lutz remains on injured reserve recovering from core muscle surgery. Johnson is the fourth kicker the team has signed since Lutz’s injury.

Also in the NFL, former LSU Tiger Clyde Edwards-Helaire has been put on injured reserve by the Kansas City Chiefs. Edwards-Helaire suffered a sprained MCL in the loss to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday night.
