The LSU women’s basketball team announced they’ll be heading to Cameron Indoor Stadium to face Duke in the ACC/SEC Challenge next season. Both teams are coming off Elite Eight appearances. The Lady Tigers will travel to Durham Thursday, December 4.

ULM announced Memphis hitting coach and recruiting coordinator Ford Pemberton as the Warhawks new head baseball coach. The Bossier City native helped the Tigers rank top five in the American Athletic Conference in both doubles and home runs per game last season.

Warhawks senior shortstop Colby Lunsford is transferring to Louisiana Tech. Lunsford batted .308 with 19 RBI and five home runs in just 27 appearances for ULM last season and will use his final season of eligibility in Ruston.

Former Barbe High School standout Donovan LaSalle is transferring to UL Lafayette from Oklahoma State. LaSalle was Louisiana’s Most Valuable Player his senior season with the Buccaneers after batting .510 with 10 homers and 43 RBI.

The Saints will return to UC Irvine August 6-15 for the second straight offseason. Wideout Chris Olave missed nine games last season after suffering the fourth and fifth concussions of his career, but he says his NFL future was never in doubt…

It’s believed LSU has enough pitching to win the program’s eighth national championship. The development of Chase Shores is one of the reasons why. Shores started the season as LSU’s Sunday starter. In April he was moved to the bullpen and has become a dependable reliver. Shores got the final out in the Super Regional series against West Virginia. The six-foot-eight flame thrower on why he’s succeeded in his new role.

ULM has named Memphis assistant Ford Pemberton as its new head baseball coach. Former Barbe High standout Donovan LaSalle is transferring from Oklahoma State to play for the Ragin Cajuns. Colby Lunsford is transferring from ULM to play for Louisiana Tech.

 

Saints safety Tyrann Mathieu is heading into his 13th season in the NFL and his fifth season with the Saints. Kellen Moore is the third head coach he’s had in New Orleans, and the Honey Badger likes that Moore is a bright offensive mind…

The Saints would like to add a veteran running back to the room. Cam Akers was brought in during minicamp for a tryout. He’s rushed for over two-thousand yards in his career, but he’s also suffered two achilles injuries.

The SEC has announced the TV windows for the 2025 football season. LSU has two games listed in the Early window, Vanderbilt and Arkansas. Arkansas is a home game. That means those two games will start at either 11 AM or noon. Alabama will be a night game, while Ole Miss, South Carolina, Texas A-and-M and Oklahoma will kick off in either the afternoon or night. Also, the game on September 20th against Southeastern Louisiana will begin at 6:45.

The LSU Tigers have arrived in Omaha for the College World Series. Right-handed pitcher Chase Shores was a member of the 2023 national championship team and believes LSU can win it all again.

The Tigers will play Arkansas on Saturday night in the opening round of the C-W-S.

The SEC has announced the TV windows for the 2025 football season. LSU has two games listed in the Early window, Vanderbilt and Arkansas. In seven on seven drills yesterday, Shough went nine of 15, while Rattler went 10 of 16. Based on media reports, Rattler had the better day on Wednesday.

Ragin Cajuns football has agreed to a home and home series with Liberty. U-L Lafayette will travel to Lynchburg, Virginia in 2028 and Liberty will return the trip in 2032.

ULM has named Bossier City native Ford Pemberton has its new baseball coach. Pemberton was at Memphis last two seasons and served as the Tigers hitting coach and recruiting coordinator. He was previously the hitting coach and recruiting coordinator at Southeastern Louisiana.

Day one of Saints minicamp is in the books. Head Coach Kellen Moore says he’s impressed by the play of the leading candidates to be the next starting quarterback — Tyler Shough (“shuck”) and Spencer Rattler.

D-1 Baseball is reporting Memphis assistant Ford Pemberton will likely be the new head coach at ULM.  Belhaven head coach Andrew Gipson will reportedly be the new head coach at UNO. And LSU assistant and recruiting coordinator, Josh Jordan, has emerged as the top candidate to be the new head coach at Duke.

There might not be a 2025-26 racing season at the Fairgrounds in New Orleans, as the owner of the track, Churchhill Downs, has informed the state racing commission it plans to relinquish its licenses because the state will not provide any subsidy, after the supreme court ruled the track can no longer operate a slot machine called Historic Horse Racing.

LSU’s first game is Saturday night at 6 PM against Arkansas.

 

Today was the first day of mandatory minicamp for the Saints and the battle for starting quarterback was turned up a notch. Coach Kellen Moore says  Tyler Shough and Spencer Rattler are both throwing it well and he called them both really smart players.

Former LSU pitcher Grant Taylor has made it to the major leagues. The Chicago White have called up Taylor from Double-A Birmingham. Taylor was on LSU’s roster in 2022 and 2023. He was hurt in 2023 and in 2022 he was 4-1 with a 5.81 ERA in 31 innings.

With LSU and their rabid fans headed to Omaha for the College World Series, one restaurant across the street from Charles Schwab Field is getting ready. Every year, Rocco’s Pizza and Cantina sells Jell-O shots in the colors of the eight participating teams for five dollars apiece. Owner Kevin Culjat (KULL-jit) says when LSU went two years ago, they really cleaned up.

Culjat says to get ready for LSU’s arrival, they’re stocking 120-thousand Jell-O shots. $1 for every Jell-O shot is donated to the team’s local food bank.

LSU baseball has completed the road to Omaha. They are one of eight teams that are in the College World Series. Right fielder Jake Brown says the team’s resiliency has been a positive characteristic this season.

The Tigers first game in the C-W-S will be Saturday night at 6 PM. They will play SEC rival Arkansas. The Hogs and the Tigers are the only two eight national seeds to make it to Omaha.

Murray State is the Cinderella. The Racers will make their first College World Series appearance after beating Duke five to four to win the Super Regional series in Durham. The Racers are on LSU’s side of the bracket and will play UCLA Saturday afternoon.

Miller Sheets, the son of former ULM baseball star Ben Sheets, has been named the Class 3A Player of the Year by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association. Miller Sheets is a Baylor commitment and hit .435 this past season with 3 home runs and 57 RBIs. Sheets helped Sterlington to a state championship as they defeated Erath. Bobcats coach Jeremy Picard was named coach of the year.

A whole bunch of money will be spent on Jell-o shots at Rocco’s Pizza and Cantina in Omaha. The last time LSU was in the College World Series, LSU fans bought nearly 69-thousand Jell-O shots at Rocco’s. Owner Kevin Culjat (KULL-jit) says it’s a fun tradition and it’s also for a worthy cause…

The NCAA has announced LSU and Arkansas will play each other in the opening round of the College World Series on Saturday at 6 PM. The other game on Saturday, will be Murray State versus UCLA. The Racers held on to beat Duke last night to become the fourth, number four seed to advance to Omaha.

The C-W-S will get underway on Friday with Coastal Carolina against Arizona, followed by Oregon State versus Louisville.

LSU is in the College World Series for the 20th time. Sulphur’s Jake Brown, who was an LSU recruit when the Tigers won it all in 2023, is happy to be a part of Jay Johnson’s second trip to the College World Series as an LSU coach…

Saints mandatory mini-camp begins today at the team’s facility in Metairie.  Kellen Moore is the youngest coach in the NFL at 36-years-old, but tight end Foster Moreau says you can tell Moore has been around the game for a long time…

Online sports gambling companies will soon be paying more tax to the state on all wagers originating from Louisiana. The Senate has approved House Bill 639 by Columbia Republican Neil Riser, who says the amount of the tax that the legislature zeroed in on was a little lower than what he had originally proposed.

Riser says one-quarter of the tax revenue generated from online betting will be divided evenly among all NCAA Division One athletic programs in the state. About two million dollars each.

LSU baseball is heading to the College World Series for the 20th time in program history. The Tigers swept their super regional series against West Virginia. Senior Josh Pearson from West Monroe says a lot of work went into getting back to Omaha…

Shortstop Stevan Milam was the offensive star of the super-regional series. He hit a grand slam in game one and drove in four more runs on Sunday night. Milam has been a Monster at the plate in the NCAA Tournament….

LSU will play Arkansas on Saturday in the opening round at the College World Series.

 

LSU scored 28 runs in the two-game sweep of West Virginia in the Super Regional series. They scored 28 runs on just 17 hits. Coach Jay Johnson’s team took advantage of 17 walks and 8 hit batsmen…

Former LSU golfer and Shreveport native Sam Burns nearly won his sixth PGA Tour title. He lost to Ryan Fox on the fourth hole of sudden death in the RBC Canadian Open in Toronto. Burns had a birdie putt from just over five feet on the first playoff hole to win, but he left it out to the right.

Mandatory Saints minicamp begins tomorrow and the public will get a chance to analyze the starting quarterback battle between Tyler Shough and Spencer Rattler.

LSU Coach Jay Johnson was also working the transfer portal while the Tigers were defeating West Virginia in the Super Regional Series. Seth Dardar, who played at Holy Cross in New Orleans, is returning to Louisiana to play for the Tigers. DarDar had a good season at Kansas State, leading the team with a .326 batting average, 13 home runs and 45 RBIs. He hit a home run against LSU when the two teams met in Frisco, Texas.

A new era in college athletics is coming as a federal judge has approved a landmark two-point-eight-billion-dollar NCAA settlement with athletes. Starting July 1st, schools will be allowed to pay players directly, NIL deals will now have to go through a clearing house, and there will be roster limitations, 105 for football, 15 for basketball, and 34 for baseball.

And WWE has announced WrestleMania 42 will be in Las Vegas next year. It was originally scheduled for New Orleans, but the Big Easy will have to wait for another year.
