With the transfer portal window open, finding a quarterback is a top priority for LSU. The number one player in the portal according to ESPN, former Cincinnati quarterback Brendan Sorsby reportedly visits with LSU today.  ESPN’s Pete Thamel reports the dual-threat Q-B is also considering Texas Tech. Sorsby, who has one year of eligibility left, has thrown for 7,208 yards and 60 touchdowns in his career. He also ran for 580 yards this season. On3.com reports LSU is among the finalists for Arizona State transfer Sam Leavitt.

Four Saints players have been ruled out for tomorrow’s regular-season finale at Atlanta. They are receiver Chris Olave, defensive tackle Nathan Shepherd, defensive tackle Bryan Bresee (bre-ZEE) and running back Alvin Kamara. Kamara has not played since November because of knee and ankle injuries. A-K played in a career-low 11 games this season and failed to surpass one-thousand yards from scrimmage for the first time in his career.

The Pelicans lost their sixth straight game last night, falling to Portland 122 to 109. Zion Williamson scored 35 points in a losing effort.

Rough game for Louisiana Tech men’s basketball last night as the Bulldogs lost to Middle Tennessee 88 to 51. The 37-point loss, is the largest for the Bulldogs in a Conference USA game. Tech is at Western Kentucky on Sunday.

McNeese improved to four and one in the Southland as the Cowboys defeated Lamar 82 to 70 las night. Today, Nicholls will try to go 5-0 in the Souhtland as the Colonels host East Texas A-and-M at 3 PM at Stopher Gymnasium.

LSU men’s basketball opens SEC play this afternoon against Texas A-and-M, but the Tigers could play this game without their star point guard, DJ Thomas. He’s listed as doubtful. Thomas is eighth in the country in assists and he averages 16 points per game. Tip off is at 3 PM in College Station.

LSU is scheduled to host Cincinnati quarterback Brendan Sorsby. Sorsby is ESPN’s top-ranked portal prospect and will head to Baton Rouge after visiting Texas Tech today. He was identified as a target for coach Lane Kiffin earlier this week.

Ole Miss is headed to the Fiesta Bowl to face Miami with a trip to the national championship on the line, but there’s been uncertainty about whether the six LSU assistant coaches on the Rebels’ staff will continue coaching. Tiger Rag Editor Glenn Guilbeau says any hesitation is on the Ole Miss side.

LSU will face Texas A&M tomorrow in their first SEC game of the season. The 12-and-1 Tigers are off to maybe their strongest start under head coach Matt McMahon, but he says conference play will be another level of competition.

The Lady Tigers lost their first game of the season after 11^th-ranked Kentucky hit a last-second three pointer to win 80-78 in LSU’s SEC opener last night. Fifth-ranked LSU will have a quick turnaround as they visit No.12 Vanderbilt Sunday. Head coach Kim Mulkey says she needs to see more as her team prepares for a tough beginning to conference play.

The Saints’ final injury report ahead of the regular season finale against the Falcons Sunday was released today. Defensive tackles Bryan Bresee and Nathan Shepherd, running back Alvin Kamara and receiver Chris Olave were all ruled out while linebacker Demario Davis, guard Dillon Radunz and quarterback Spencer Rattler are questionable. Wideout Mason Tipton was also added to injured reserve along with tight end Jack Stoll.

The McNeese men’s basketball team will host Lamar at 6:00 tonight. The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs will visit Middle Tennessee at 6:30 while the Lady Techsters tip-off against Sam Houston at the same time.

The college football transfer window opens today, and Yahoo Sports’ Nick Bromberg expects new LSU head coach Lane Kiffin to show his prowess navigating the portal. Kiffin has identified rebuilding the Tigers’ depleted offensive line as a top priority, and Bromberg says he’ll also hunt depth at quarterback, d-line and wide receiver.

LSU redshirt sophomore receivers Kyle Parker and Destyn Hill entered the transfer portal. Parker caught 31 passes for 330 yards and four touchdowns this season. Hill was a top 115 recruit out of Edna Karr and joined the Tigers after two seasons with Florida State. Both have two years of eligibility remaining.

The Lady Tigers’ undefeated start to the season came to an end last night as they fell 80-78 to 11^thranked Kentucky in their SEC opener. The Wildcats hit a game-winning three to seal the game with half a second left to silence the P-MAC crowd and knock off fifth-ranked LSU. The Lady Tigers visit 12^th-ranked Vanderbilt Sunday.

Ole Miss is in the CFP semifinals after upsetting Georgia 39-34 in the Sugar Bowl last night. The Rebels overcame a nine-point halftime deficit behind a lights out performance from quarterback Trinidad Chambliss. For Georgia, it’s their second straight Sugar Bowl loss, and head coach Kirby Smart says the back-and-forth game was one to remember.

McNeese will host Lamar in men’s basketball tonight on the nation’s fourth longest active home win streak. The Cowboys will look to make it 19 straight at home in a rematch of last year’s Southland Conference championship game at 6:00.

Louisiana Tech will visit Middle Tennessee in another postseason rematch from a season ago. The Bulldogs fell to the Blue Raiders in a heartbreaking overtime loss in the Conference USA quarterfinals last year. Both teams are coming off wins in their first conference matchup. Tip-off is at 6:30.

The lady Techsters will also be tipping off at 6:30 at home against Sam Houston.  Both teams are 7-and-4 heading into the C-USA opener.

A sellout crowd of more than 68-thousand watched a game for the ages. Ole Miss beat Georgia, 39-34, to win the 2026 Sugar Bowl. Rebels quarterback Trinidad Chambliss says he’s enjoying silencing the team’s naysayers.

Lucas Carneiro kicked a 47-yard field goal with six seconds left to give Ole Miss the lead, with the final margin coming on the ensuing kickoff when a botched lateral by Georgia hit their own end zone pylon for a safety.

Kentucky hits a three-pointer with one second left, and the fifth-ranked LSU women’s basketball team lost to the Wildcats 80 to 78 to begin SEC play last night. Kentucky outrebounded LSU 45-29 and had 18 second-chance points to LSU’s 4. Coach Kim Mulkey says her team was not tough enough.

LSU star linebacker Whit Weeks has announced he will return for his senior season. Safety Dashawn Spears is also coming back.

Saints linebacker Demario Davis plans to play a 15^th season in the NFL at the age of 37. Davis says he’s accelerating toward the finish line this year. Receiver Chris Olave will not play in Sunday’s season finale at Atlanta, because of a blood clot in his lung. He is expected to make a full recovery.

The transfer portal window opens tomorrow and the LSU Tigers will be looking to sign two quarterbacks, since they only have one scholarship Q-B on the current roster. Lane Kiffin’s staff will also have to rebuild the offensive line and Glen West with Geaux 247 says the defensive line will be a key position too…

Two LSU Tigers have decided they will be returning next season, running back Harlem Berry and safety Dashawn Spears. There was a report that Spears planned on entering the transfer portal, but a couple of hours later it was announced he was staying at LSU.

Tonight is the Sugar Bowl, the winner between Georgia and Ole Miss will play Miami, who upset Ohio State 24-14 last night in the Cotton Bowl.

The fifth ranked LSU women’s basketball team faces its first ranked opponent of the season tonight as they tip off SEC play by hosting 11^th ranked Kentucky at 7 PM at the Maravich Center. LSU leads the nation in scoring offense, averaging 108 points per game. Coach Kim Mulkey told WWL Radio the offense has been great, but to be the best they have to be great on defense.

The Cats enter the game ranked first in the country in blocked shots and third in scoring defense.

The Ragin Cajuns men’s basketball team shot 35-percent from the field yesterday and lost to South Alabama 63 to 58 to fall to 3-12 on the season.

Nicholls is 4=0 in the Southland for the first time since 1998 after beating U-T-R-G-V 71-69, Northwestern State lost to Stephen F Austin 74-64, and the Pelicans lost to the Bulls 134-118.

LSU Offensive coordinator Charlie Weis Jr. is following head coach Lane Kiffin to Baton Rouge. But first, he’s coaching Ole Miss for the rest of the College Football Playoff, starting with tomorrow night’s Sugar Bowl against Georgia. Weis says it was a tough decision to make, but he believes it was the right one.

Louisiana Tech rallied from a14-6 deficit in the Independence Bowl to beat Coastal Carolina 23 to 14 in Shreveport yesterday. The victory is LA Tech’s first bowl win since 2019 and the Bulldogs finish the season 8-and-5, head coach Sonny Cumbie’s best mark in four years in Ruston. Cumbie says, despite national narratives, bowl games are as important as ever, and he hopes this season’s success can welcome a new era in Bulldogs football.

Darrell Barbay of Mansfield has been named the Class 2A Coach of the Year by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association. Barbay led the Wolverines to their first ten-win season and quarterfinal appearance since 1993.

The quarterfinals of the CFP begin tonight with Ohio State taking on Miami in Arlington, Texas.

The Superdome will host Ole Miss and Georgia in the Sugar Bowl tomorrow night, and the Rebels’ offense will be led by LSU Offensive Coordinator Charlie Weis. Weis followed Kiffin to Baton Rouge but agreed to stay on as the offensive play caller for Ole Miss’s playoff run. He says he’s had to balance prepping for Georgia with establishing a new regime at LSU with the transfer window fast approaching.

The Sugar Bowl is set to kick off tomorrow at 7:00

In College hoops yesterday, Grambling stayed undefeated at home, beating Centenary 90-58 behind an 18-point outing from forward Jimel Lane off the bench. The 6-and-7 Tigers will host Parie View A&M Saturday.

Southeastern fell to Incarnate Word 79-70 and drop to 4-and-9 on the season and 1-and-3 in Southland play. The Lions will look to bounce back at home against SFA Saturday.

Louisiana Tech are Independence Bowl Champs for the fourth time in school history. The Bulldogs scored 17 points in the fourth quarter to overcome an 11-point halftime deficit and defeat Coastal Carolina 23-14. The Dogs’ defense allowed 248 yards in the first half but forced three turnovers and shut out the Chanticleers in the second. Senior cornerback Cedric Woods says they were ready for anything.

The victory  is the Bulldog’s first Bowl win since 2019.

The Pelicans will look to end their four-game skid against the Bulls tonight. Chicago will be without starting guards Josh Giddey and Coby White while guard Jose Alvarado is absent for the Pels on the second of his two-game suspension, and forward Herb Jones is sidelined with an ankle injury. Tip-off in Chicago is at 6:00.

Saints quarterback Tyler Shough is now one of the favorites to win the Offensive Rookie of the Year after putting up back-to-back 300-yard passing performances. Shough is 5-3 as a starter and Coach Kellen Moore says Shough deserves the national attention…

Pelicans guard Shaddiq Bey scored 23 first-quarter points, one shy of a New Orleans franchise record but that fast start did not result in a win for New Orleans as they lost to the Knicks 130-125. Bey finished with 26 points.

LSU men’s basketball finished non-conference play with a 12-1 record as the Tigers defeated Southern Miss 90 to 62. LSU is at Texas A-and-M on Saturday.

Louisiana Tech plays Coastal Carolina this afternoon in the Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl. Senior defensive back Cedrick Woods wraps up his six-year college career today. It will be Woods’ 58th game with the Bulldogs, which is the most played by a single player in program history. Woods says he is blessed to have been able to play for so many years.

Coach Carolina enter sthe game on a three-game losing streak. Tad Hudson is expected to start at quarterback, he’s thrown five interceptions to four touchdown passes this season.

McNeese lost to second ranked Michigan 112 to 71. Northwestern State fell to Lamar 76-71. Nicholls held on to beat Texas A-and-M Corpus Christi 76-71.

The Saints were down by 13 points but came from behind to beat Tennessee 34-26 yesterday improving to 6 – 10. Defensive end Chase Young started the rally in the second quarter by stripping the ball away from Titans quarterback Cam Ward and returning the fumble 33 yards for a T-D. New Orleans will try to end the regular season on a five-game winning streak when they visit Atlanta this Sunday for the final game of the 2025 season.

LSU women’s basketball completed a dominant run through its non-conference schedule by beating Alabama State 109 to 41 yesterday. SEC play tips off New Year’s day night as LSU hosts 11^th ranked Kentucky at 7 PM.

LSU’s loss drops Louisiana teams to 0-and-3 in bowl games. Louisiana Tech is the Bayou State’s last hope on Tuesday in the Independence Bowl against Coastal Carolina.

Louisiana Tech men’s basketball begins its final season in Conference USA tonight by hosting UTEP at 6:30 in the Thomas Assembly Center. The Bulldogs are 7-4-, while the Miners are 4-and-7.

The LSU men play its final non-conference game tonight as they host Southern Miss. The Tigers are 11-and-1, while the Golden Eagles are 7-6.

McNeese is at 2^nd ranked Michigan, while Northwestern State hosts Lamar and Nicholls is at Texas A-and-M Corpus Christi.

The Saints won their fourth straight on Sunday as they rallied back from an early 13-point deficit to beat Tennessee 34 to 26. For the second straight week, rookie quarterback Tyler Shough threw for more than 300 yards as he threw for 333 yards and two touchdowns. Shough says the team was not down despite trailing by ten-points at halftime…

A highly anticipated 2025 LSU football season ended with a thud on Saturday night, losing to the Houston Cougars 38 to 35 in the Texas Bowl. Quarterback Michael Van Buren had a good showing in the loss, throwing for 267 yards and three touchdowns. Van Buren says he hopes he’ll be part of the 2026 Tigers…

The transfer portal opens Friday and head coach Lane Kiffin will be looking at possibly signing multiple quarterbacks. The Tigers also need to rebuild their offensive and defensive lines.

The fifth-ranked LSU women’s basketball team finished off the non-conference portion of its schedule with another dominating victory, beating Alabama State 109 to 41 to go to 14-0. It’s the 11^th time LSU has scored more than 100 points.

In men’s hoops. ULM fell to Kansas State 94 to 85 and the Cajuns defeated Norfolk State 63- to 54. Tonight McNeese is at second ranked Michigan.
