Former LSU guard Alan Faneca and New Orleans native Peyton Manning were inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame yesterday. Former Southern receiver Harold Carmichael who played 13 seasons in the N-F-L, mostly with the Eagles was inducted on Saturday with his 2020 classmates.

Preseason camp is underway for college football teams and yesterday the LSU football team was in pads for the first time. Coach Ed Orgeron says he wants LSU’s offense to be similar to the record-breaking one they had in 2019. The New Orleans Saints have waived recently acquired defensive end Kendall Donnerson in order to make room for linebacker Kwon Alexander. Donnerson struggled to stand out at camp in a crowded position room that features players like Marcus Davenport and first-round pick Payton Turner.

The Pelicans have hired former two-time coach of the year Mike D’Antoni as a consultant to help out first-year coach Willie Green. D’Antoni is known for his offensive mind and has been a head coach for multiple NBA franchises.

Former Nicholls head baseball coach Seth Thibodeaux has been named as the pitching coach at U-L Lafayette.
