The Ragin Cajuns host Ohio tonight in a nationally televised game on ESPN. U-L Lafayette is 1-and-1 and the offense has yet to find its mid-season groove. Offensive lineman Shane Vallot says they’ve been working on communication issues…

Athletic Director Bryan Maggard is promising a better fan experience for tonight’s game. There was an issue with concessions for the home opener last Saturday that resulted in long lines and congestion in the concourse.

Payton says it will take two negative tests before the coaches can re-enter the building, so it’s unknown if they’ll be available for Sunday’s game against Carolina. ULM will welcome Deion Sanders and the Jackson State Tigers to Malone Stadium on Saturday for the Warhawks home opener. Deion played for Terry Bowden’s dad, Bobby Bowden at Florida State so they will use this game to honor the late great coach. Both teams will wear decals in honor of Bowden on their helmet.

Multiple reports say six assistant coaches for the Saints have tested postive for COVID-19 and so has injured receiver Michael Thomas, who has been put on the COVID list. Because the coaches are vaccinated, there’s a chance they can travel with the team to Charlotte for Sunday’s game against Carolina.

LSU wide receiver Kayshon Boutte is off to a good start this season, but the rest of the offense is not. The Tigers only had 305 yards of total offense in a 34-7 win over McNeese on Saturday. In two games, Boutte has 14 catches and five touchdown receptions. He says he’s not disappointed with the offense but believes they can do more…

The Tigers host Central Michigan on Saturday night. The Chippewas have allowed only two third-down conversions on 23 tries.

Saturday is the home opener for the ULM Warhawks as they host Jackson State. And they will also honor the late great college football coach Bobby Bowden, who died last month. In college baseball news, West Monroe’s John Pearson has committed to LSU.

And the NBA is not requiring players to get the vaccine.

The Saints are dealing with a COVID outbreak on their team. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports six coaches on the offensive side of the football have tested positive for COVID. One player has also tested positive. No word on who that might be.

The Black and Gold are also dealing with several injuries. Cornerback Marshon Lattimore will reportedly need surgery on his injured thumb and he’ll miss multiple weeks.

Center Erik McCoy reportedly has a calf strain and could miss five weeks. And defensive end Marcus Davenport will reportedly miss some playing time with a pectoral strain.

The Saints have reportedly signed wide receiver Kenny Stills to the practice squad. Stills spent his first two seasons in New Orleans before he was traded to Miami in 2015 for a third-round pick. In eight NFL seasons between the Saints, Dolphins, and Texans, Stills has 310 catches.

New Orleans is at Carolina this Sunday.

There’s sad news to report involving the LSU football program. Kevione Faulk, the 19-year-old daughter of running backs coach Kevin Faulk, has died. Details on her death were not released. Kevione also served as a student worker on the team.

LSU Coach Ed Orgeron announces running back John Emery is out for the rest of the season as he’s been ruled academically ineligible. Orgeron did not provide any specifics on what resulted in Emery being ruled ineligible. There are some asking how could this happen? Orgeron says lack of communication is not a problem…

The LSU football program is mourning the death of Kevione Faulk, the 19-year-old daughter of running backs coach Kevin Faulk. Kevione, who was a student worker on the football staff, died Monday morning. A cause of death was not known.

LSU running back John Emery Junior has been ruled academically ineligible for the season. Coach Ed Orgeron did not provide any other information. There are reports Emery has hired a lawyer to challenge the decision for Emery to sit this season.

This Saturday, the Tigers host Central Michigan. The Chippewas lost by ten points to Missouri two weeks ago and through two games this season they are averaging 239 rushing yards a game. Orgeron on C-M-U’s running attack

He didn’t throw for a ton of yards, but Jameis Winston made the most of his 20 pass attempts throwing for five touchdown passes in a 38-3 victory over Green Bay. Marshon Lattimore has reportedly agreed to a five-year contract extension with the Saints. The 97-million dollar deal would make Lattimore the second highest-paid cornerback in the NFL. And Lattimore reportedly needs surgery on his thumb. He played in the second half with a protective cast.

LSU beat McNeese in its home opener, but the offense still had trouble producing a consistent running attack and providing adequate protection for Quarterback Max Johnson. Coach Ed Orgeron says he’s a little surprised to see his offense struggle after the first two games of the season…

And Orgeron delivered more bad news regarding his offense and that is running back John Emery has been ruled ineligible for the rest of the season because of academic issues. The former five-star prospect was expected to be a big part of the offense this season.

Louisiana Tech defensive back BeeJay Williamson was named Conference USA defensive player of the week after intercepting two passes in the Bulldogs 45-42 win over Southeastern Louisiana on Saturday.

Despite spending the last couple of weeks displaced from New Orleans, because of Hurricane Ida, the Saints were ready for the start of the regular and it showed in yesterday’s 38 to 3 beat down of the Green Bay Packers. Saints Quarterback Jameis Winston threw five touchdown passes and zero interceptions, while Green Bay’s Aaron Rodgers was picked off twice and only threw for 133 yards. Linebacker Demario Davis says they wanted to win this one for Who Dat nation…

The Saints are at Carolina this Sunday. The Panthers won their regular-season opener as they grounded the New York Jets 19-14.

The LSU Tigers beat McNeese 34-7 on Saturday night, but the Bayou Bengals offense did not look good in the victory. LSU had just 306 yards of total offense and they were just 4-of-16 on third down. Orgeron says he’s a little surprised the offense has struggled through the first two games of the season. The Tigers host Central Michigan this Saturday and then they’ll open SEC play on September 25th at Mississippi State. The league announced today that game will kick-off at 11 AM.
