It looks like center Braelin Moore will play this Saturday against Florida. Coach Brian Kelly says Moore is probable after spraining his ankle last Saturday.

Saints quarterback Spencer Rattler is preparing to make his eighth NFL start. He’s still looking for his first win. Rattler says he is working on improving many aspects of his game with San Francisco coming to New Orleans.

49ers quarterback Brock Purdy not expected to start because of injuries, so Mac Jones would start instead.

The Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame has announced its 2026 class. The headliners are former Saints receiver Joe Horn, former LSU Tiger and Atlanta Falcons great Todd McClure and LSU women’s basketball great Sylvia Fowles, who led the Lady Tigers to four straight Final Four appearances in the mid-2000s. Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame Chairman Doug Ireland says Fowles is a winner…

Former LSU basketball coach John Brady, former Northwestern State coach Mike McConathy, former Florien girls’ basketball coach Dewain Strother are also inductees, along with former Major Leaguer and Ragin Cajuns star Jonathan Lucroy. LSU baseball legend Warren Morris will receive the Louisiana Sports Ambassador Award.

NOLA-dot-com is reporting the Saints are on the verge of renewing its long-term lease to remain at the Superdome.

LSU freshman running back Harlem Berry had one of the best plays of the game as he evaded multiple tacklers to break off a 43-yard run late in the fourth quarter of Saturday’s win over Louisiana Tech. Head coach Brian Kelly says that Berry has put the staff on notice after starting to get used to the transition to college.

Also, backup defensive tackle Sydir (sigh-DEER) Mitchell is no longer on the roster. Kelly says they’ve parted ways with Mitchell because of a disciplinary issue…

UL-Lafayette will travel to Columbia this weekend to take on number 25 Missouri in a sold-out Memorial Stadium. Cajuns head coach Michael Desormeaux (DEZ-er-moe) says that his team does not need to worry about anything outside of football.

Cut 19 (19) “…go operate.”

The 49ers have placed tight end George Kittle on injured reserve so he will not play this Sunday when San Francisco visits the Saints. The 49ers are 6-and-12 without Kittle since 2019. The 49ers are a 4.5 point favorite.

The 2026 LSU baseball schedule is out. The Tigers open conference play at Vanderbilt. LSU will also go to Georgia in May, while Florida will visit the Tigers in May. No regular season series against Arkansas this year.

The Florida Gators will travel to Baton Rouge desperately seeking a win after getting upset by South Florida. Head coach Billy Napier says he is embracing Saturday night’s challenge of going into Death Valley and trying to get a win.

Florida is entering a tough stretch of their schedule. After this game, the Gators will play fifth-ranked Miami, seventh-ranked Texas, and then visit 16th-ranked Texas A&M.

The 2026 LSU baseball schedule is out. The Tigers will not play Arkansas this season in the regular season. They open the conference slate by visiting Vanderbilt, and LSU will host Florida on the last weekend of the regular season.

The Ragin Cajuns head to Missouri this Saturday to take on the 25th-ranked Tigers. It’s the first meeting between the two teams. Cajuns starting quarterback Daniel Beale had a quiet game in the 34-10 victory over McNeese last Saturday, only throwing for 86 yards. Coach Michael Desormeaux says  Beale needs some help to be successful..

Louisiana Tech coach Sonny Cumbie says he has not named a starting quarterback for this week’s game versus New Mexico State. The Bulldogs played both quarterbacks, Trey Kukuk (Q-kuhk) and Blake Baker against LSU. Baker led Tech to its only touchdown in the fourth quarter.

The Saints return to work today, as they get ready to host the 49ers, who will be without pro bowl tight end George Kittle because of a hamstring injury.

During his weekly Monday press conference, LSU Head coach Brian Kelly provided positive news regarding the health of two of his key players — first, junior center Braelin Moore; and then, tight end Trey’Dez Green.

Moore was injured on the first play from scrimmage in the game versus Louisiana Tech. Last year’s starting center, sophomore DJ Chester came into the game to replace him. Kelly says Chester did a heck of a job.

Former LSU receiver Justin Jefferson caught a touchdown pass in the Vikings come from behind win over the Chicago Bears last night. And former Tiger pitcher Aaron Nola pitched six shutout innings in a Phillies one to nothing win over the Mets.

 

The Saints were in a position to win their season opener on Sunday against the Cardinals but failed to get a win as they lost to Arizona 20-13. On Monday, Coach Kellen Moore gave his thoughts on the performance…

The Saints will host the 49ers on Sunday. San Francisco tight end George Kittle will miss the game  with a hamstring injury and quarterback Brock Purdy is questionable with left shoulder and toe injuries. Saints safety Julian Blackmon will reportedly miss the season with a shoulder injury.

In the high school football polls…Edna Karr is ranked number one in 5A. Franklin Parish is number one in Class 4A, St. James is number one in 3A, Lafayette Christian ranks number one in 2A and Haynesville is the top seed in One-A.

The third-ranked LSU Tigers are getting for their SEC opener against Florida on Saturday night in Tiger Stadium. Coach Brian Kelly feels his team’s preparation leading up to the Louisiana Tech game was not where it needed to be. He says that the focus and preparation have to improve moving forward.

Kelly says starting center Braelin Moore and tight end Trey Dez Green are both listed as questionable.

Saints starting safety Julian Blackmon seriously injured his labrum in the regular season opening loss against the Arizona Cardinals. Head coach Kellen Moore says Blackmon is expected to miss significant time, which could end up being the entire season.

Blackmon was signed to replace Tyran Mathieu, who retired on the eve of training camp. Blackmon played well in the season opener. He had seven tackles and a pass defensed. Former fifth-round pick Jordan Howden or rookie Jonas Sanker could replace him.

The Saints will host the 49ers on Sunday. San Francisco will not have tight end George Kittle, who injured his hamstring in the first half of the team’s win over Seattle in the season opener. Quarterback Brock Purdy is also questionable with shoulder and toe injuries.

La Tech’s offense struggled again on Saturday in the 23-7 loss to LSU. Starting quarterback Trey Kukuk threw for just 50 yards. Back-up Blake Baker led Tech on a scoring drive in the fourth quarter, and Coach Sonny Cumbie hinted at a possible quarterback change…

For the first time since 2018, the Saints lost their season opener to Arizona 20-13 as a potential game tying drive ended at the Cardinals 18-yard line. The defense played well, sacking Arizona quarterback Kyler Murray five times. The 36-year-old Cam Jordan had a sack and a half and liked the fight the team showed in trying to come back….

Cut 20 (14) “…until we didn’t”

Spencer Rattler threw for 214 yards, but averaged less than five yards a pass. The Saints were penalized 13 times for 89 yards and the offense committed eight of those penalties.  New Orleans will have to clean up those mistakes to avoid an 0-2 start. They will host the 49ers Sunday, who beat Seattle 17 to 13.

LSU remains ranked third in the AP poll and fourth in the coaches poll despite a lethargic 23-7 win over the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs on Saturday night.

LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier threw for 237 yards, but his longest completion was just 23 yards. He also threw an interception and was sacked three times. Coach Brian Kelly was disappointed with the run game, held to less than four yards a carry. B-K made it clear, he expects better execution because they have the players to do something special this season.

The Cajuns beat McNeese 34-10, ULM lost 73 to 0 to Alabama, Southeastern Louisiana beat Murray State, while Nicholls, Northwestern State, Grambling and Southern lost.

First-year Louisiana Tech defensive coordinator Luke Olson will have his hands full with shutting down an elite LSU offense when they visit Tiger Stadium Saturday. The Bulldogs are known to blitz often, and junior linebacker Mekhi Mason says they need to get to quarterback Garrett Nussmeier early and often.

LSU’s additions through the transfer portal played well in the season opening win at Clemson. Senior cornerback Mansoor Delane wanted to play for a team that will develop him for the NFL while also competing for a national title. Delane says he saw the Tigers were building something special…

The Saints kick off their season on Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals. Second-year quarterback Spencer Rattler will play his first game in Kellen Moore ‘s system. Offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier says Rattler needs to just be himself.

The high school football season kicked off with a great game in Monroe as Neville held on to beat Evangel 33 to 32. The Tigers secure the victory by blocking a field goal try with 11 seconds left.

Also last night, West Monroe defeated Huntington 41 to 18, Wossman beat Bastrop 36 to six and St. Charles Catholic looked good in beating Newman 36 to 3. Tonight, Oak Gove faces Calvary Baptist, Ruston hosts Acadiana, and Catholic High of New Iberia faces Vermilion Catholic.

LSU senior starting right guard Josh Thompson was a huge transfer portal addition for the Tigers as they needed to replace four starting offensive linemen. The Northwestern transfer ultimately made the decision to come down to Baton Rouge to get the chance to fulfill a lifelong dream.

The Tigers will host Louisiana Tech tomorrow night. The Bulldogs strength is their defense, which did not allow any points to Southeastern Louisiana last Saturday. Tech linebackers combined for 39 tackles and three sacks. Junior Mekhi Mason…

Kick off tomorrow night is at 6:30.

 

Saints veteran cornerback Alontae Taylor was limited in practice yesterday due to a groin injury that he suffered about a month ago. Taylor says that he is doing everything he can to play in the opener, but does not want to rush it if he isn’t 100-percent.

Starting defensive end Chase Young and offensive guard Trevor Penning did not practice yesterday, putting their status for the season opener on Sunday against Atlanta in doubt.

Cajuns quarterback Walker Howard will undergo surgery today and is likely out for the season. Louisiana Sports-dot-net is reporting Howard suffered a severe oblique injury. Daniel Beale will start at Q-B for UL Lafayette when they host McNeese tomorrow night.

The high school football season kicked off last night with Neville beating Evangel 33 to 32 and West Monroe knocking off Huntington 41 to 18.

LSU-Louisiana Tech is not the only intrastate matchup. The Ragin Cajuns host McNeese at 7 PM. Cowboys head coach Matt Viator returns to Lafayette after serving as an offensive analyst for the Cajuns the last four seasons. Viator likes the in-state matchups.

Guard Trevor Penning did not practice yesterday because of a toe injury, but cornerback Alontae Taylor returned from a groin injury.

The high school football season starts tonight. On the LHSAA Network, the Game of the Week is St. Charles Catholic hosting Newman. The Greenies have a new head coach in Aaron Vice and the Comets looking to bounce back after a losing season.

Jay Johnson has won two national championships and according to Wilson Alexander at the Advocate he’s set to become the highest paid coach in college baseball, with a deal that will top out at three-million dollars a year and it runs through 2032 season.
