The LSU football team returns to practice March 9th as the Tigers look to improve on last year’s 10-win season. Quarterback Jayden Daniels is expected to be one of the top Quarterbacks in the SEC and a dark-horse Heisman prospect for next season but may start the Spring sidelined with a nagging knee injury suffered late last year. Brody Miller of the Athletic, though, says the team  isn’t too worried about Daniels missing time…

Saints Running Back Alvin Kamara pleaded “not guilty” to conspiracy to commit battery and substantial bodily harm in a Las Vegas courtroom earlier today. The charges stem from an incident involving Kamara and three others that occurred in February 2022. Kamara’s trial has been set for July 31.

Louisiana Tech is set to play FIU in a rematch of the 4 point loss that started the Bulldogs 6-game skid. FIU has also struggled to find a rhythm losing their last four, but Coach Talvin Hester knows his team needs to be prepared for the Panthers. Hester says he expects more full-court pressure from a team that forced 23 turnovers against the ‘Dogs in their last matchup…

The Pelicans snapped their four game losing streak last night in Portland. On the night of former Trailblazer CJ McCollum and longtime teammate Damian Lillard’s first reunion on the court together, it was all about Pels forward Brandon Ingram. Ingram scored a season high 40 points to help the Pels stay in a tight play-in race in the West. 10th place New Orleans will visit Golden State tomorrow just a game and a half back from the 5th place Warriors.

Two of the best scorers in the NBA went against each other last night, Brandon Ingram for New Orleans, Damien Lillard for Portland. Lillard had 41 points, while Ingram 40. But it was Ingram and the Pelicans that got the win, 121 to 110. New Orleans is at Golden State tomorrow.

LSU concluded the home portion of its schedule last night as the Tigers lost to Missouri 81-76. The Tigers led by 19 points in the first half.

La Tech looks to snap a six-game losing streak tonight as they host F-I-U. Since Cobe Williams left the team two weeks ago, Coach Talvin Hester has had to depend more on Isaiah Crawford who is averaging 15 points a game…

The Tigers are set to begin spring football a week from today.

Louisiana Tech baseball is not happy with how yesterday’s game ended with Ole Miss. The Bulldogs scored twice in the top of the seventh inning to take a five to four lead. But lightning moved into the area and the game never resumed. Since the Rebels did not not bat in the bottom of the seventh, the game reverts back to the scoere at the end of the sixth inning, with Ole Miss leading four to three, so the Rebels get credit for the win.

The LSU men’s basketball team fought the good fight last night, but Missouri rallied from a 13-point halftime deficit to take down the Tigers 81-76 in the PMAC. The Bayou Bengals conclude the regular season on Saturday at Florida.

The Louisiana Tech Athletics Department has released a statement regarding the controversial ending to last night’s baseball game versus Ole Miss. The Bulldogs were leading 5-4 when the game was put into a rain delay and ultimately called off at the top of the 7th. NCAA rules state the score reverts to the last completed inning which was the 6th when the Rebels were leading 4-3. The statement says Tech offered to return to Oxford to resume the game but were told the Ole Miss Administration would not allow it.

The New Orleans Pelicans got a nice win last night on the road taking down Portland 121-110. Brandon Ingram led the Pels with 40 points. CJ. McCollum scored 24.

LSU announced they will be hiring Defensive Analyst former Georgia and Tennessee Defensive Coordinator John Jancek (Jan-Sick) as the new Special Teams Coordinator and Outside Linebackers Coach for the Tigers. Brody Miller of the Athletic says the move shows LSU is looking for help on the defensive end..:

 The LSU Baseball team came away with a 3-0 victory over Texas on the road. Tied 0-0 in the top of the ninth, Second Baseman Gavin Dugas hit a three-run homer to left field to give the Tigers the win. Coach Jay Johnson says the veteran was able to take advantage  of a rare mistake…

The 7-1 Tigers return to action Friday night versus Butler

With only 20 games left in the season, the Pelicans will look to bounce back from a 4 game skid tonight in Portland. The Pels are now facing elimination from the Play-in tournament as they sit in 10th place in the west after being on top of the conference in late December. Injuries have played a big role in New Orleans’s struggles, and the Pels have lost Forward Larry Nance and guard Jose Alvarado in the last two games. Zion Williamson is progressing in rehab of his hamstring injury with an update coming next week. Tip-off in Portland is at 9:00 

The LSU men’s basketball team hosts Missouri tonight in the last home game of the season. The Tigers will honor transfer KJ Williams and walk-on Parker Edwards in a senior night ceremony. Williams planned to enter the NBA Draft after his final season with Murray State, but after suffering a knee injury he decided to follow his coach to Baton Rouge. The former Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year led the Tigers in points, rebounds, steals, and blocks this year and says the night will be bitter sweet….

Louisiana Tech pulled off  a 6-5 upset over the defending national champions and 4th ranked Ole Miss in Oxford last night. Down 4-0 in the top of the fifth, the Bulldogs batted in 5 runs to take the lead and shut down the bottom of the inning. Tech scored the winning run in the seventh for the programs first road win over a top-5 opponent since 2004.

Gavin Dugas’ three-run homer in the ninth inning broke a scoreless tie last night in Austin, Texas and the top ranked LSU baseball team came away with a three to nothing win over the Longhorns. Coach Jay Johnson on the heroics from his fifth year senior…

Thatcher Hurd, Nate Ackenhausen and Christian Little held Texas to four hits on the night.

La Tech erupted for five runs in the fifth inning and scored the winning run in the seventh for a come from behind six to five win over fourth ranked Ole Miss in front of ten-thousand fans at Swayze Field. Brody Drost hit a three-run homer in the fifth and Dalto Davis drove in the winning run in the seventh. Landon Tomkins pitched three innings and allowed one run and earned the win. The same two teams play again today in Oxford.

McNeese defeated the Ragin Cajuns five to four last night in Lake Charles. Kainin Morrow pitched six scoreless innings and allowed just two hits, while striking out six. Brad Burckel and Payton Harden homered for the Pokes.

ULM crushed Grambling 14 to one. Carson Jones had a three-run double in a seven-run sixth inning. Northwestern State drew 13 walks and defeated Stephen F Austin 13 to two.

LSU Football Coach Brian Kelly announces John Jancek as his new special teams coordinator as he’ll replace Brian Polian. Jancek was a defensive analyst for LSU last season and he previously served as a defensive coordinator at Georgia and Tennessee. He’ll also coach the outside linebackers.

The Pelicans are at Portland tonight to begin a three game road trip. The team says Zion Williamson continues to progress with rehabilitation of his right hamstring strain and he’ll undergo medical imaging next week. But Larry Nance Junior and Jose Alvarado are out several weeks with injuries.

The top ranked LSU baseball team completes its stay in the Lone Star State tonight by visiting Texas. The Tigers are coming off a victory over Sam Houston where they scored 16 runs. Right fielder Brayden Joubert hit two home runs in that game. Joubert has three for the season after hitting 18 dingers last season. Joubert only had a .246 batting average last season, but he says his preparation is more consistent this year…

Louisiana Tech begins a two-game series at fourth ranked Ole Miss today. The Ragin Cajuns visit in-state rival McNeese, ULM will play host to Grambling at 6 PM.

On-3 sports is reporting LSU wide receiver Aaron Anderson will miss time this spring after undergoing offseason knee surgery. The transfer from Alabama, who was ranked as the best receiver in the state coming out of Karr High School in 2022, is expected to be a full go when the Tigers’ open the season in September against Florida State.

There are reports Coach Brian Kelly will name defensive analyst John Jancek as the team’s new special teams coordinator as he will replace Brian Polian who will serve in a general manager type roll. Jancek will also coach outside linebackers Other assistant coaches would also help Jancek coordinate special teams.

Other LSU football news….cornerback Sevyn Banks has left the team and is hoping to be selected in the upcoming draft and freshman safety Michael Daugherty has also left the program.

In the NFL…there are reports the Bucaneers are expected to release former LSU star running back Leonard Fournette. Fournette spent three seasons in Tampa Bay, but had a down year rushing the ball last season.

The Pelicans lost their fourth straight game last night as they fell to the Orlando Magic 101 to 93. New Orleans only scored 19 points in the fourth quarter and they were 6 of 27 from three point territory as the offense continues to struggle. At the NFL draft combine, free agent quarterback Derek Carr is Indianapolis and he’s expected to talk with the Saints and Jets again as well as the Panthers. The Falcons have released Q-B Marcus Mariota.

It’s a big night for college baseball tonight. Top ranked LSU is at Texas. The Longhorns are three-and-four on the season and Tigers Coach Jay Johnson is hopeful for another big offensive night from his club after scoring 16 runs on Sunday….

Also Louisiana Tech begins a two-game midweek series in Oxford against the Ole Miss Rebels. The Bulldogs are four and three, while the Rebels are six and one and swinging the bats well. The defending national champs have hit 18 home runs in seven games.

The Ragin Cajuns will visit McNeese tonight in the 177th meeting between in the state foes on the baseball diamond. U-L Lafayette leads the all-time series 100 to 76. U-L Lafayette is six and one on the season, while the Cowboys are three and four.

Last night, U-L Lafayette softball beat Ole Miss three to two in eight innings.

The Pelicans dropped their fourth straight last night as once again the offense failed to score enough points in a 101 to 93 home loss to the Orlando Magic. New Orleans scored just 19 points in the fourth quarter and they were six of 27 from three-point territory. Brandon Ingram had 25 points and five assists while C-J McCollum had 18 points. McCollum talked about the teams’ offensive troubles after the game…

Grambling remains tied for first place in the SWAC after beating Bethune-Cookman 66-54 in Daytona Beach, Florida last night. Ragin Cajuns softball beat Ole Miss three to two in eight innings in Lafayette last night.

After suffering their first loss of the season on Saturday, the top-ranked LSU baseball team responded on Sunday with a 16-4 win over Sam Houston State to win the Round Rock Classic in Texas. Dylan Crews was named tournament MVP as he went five for six at the plate yesterday with three doubles, four runs scored and four runs drivin in. Brayden Joubert also launched two, two-run home runs and Garret Edwards was the winning pitcher. LSU is at Texas tomorrow night.

Angel Reese put together another monster game as the fifth-ranked Lady Tigers finished off the regular season with a 74-59 win over Mississippi State yesterday. Reese had 23 points and 26 rebounds. Alexis Morris also had 23 points. LSU is 27-and-1 heading into the SEC Tournament in Greenville, South Carolina. The 27-and-1 record matches the best regular season record in program history. Also, 15,721 people watched the game yesterday. That’s a PMAC record.

Nicholls held Louisiana Tech to four hits yesterday and the Colonels blanked Bulldogs eight to nothing. Jacob Mayers struck out eleven over five innings for his second win of the season. Nicholls is 4-and-4 on the year, while Tech is 4-and-3.

S-I-U Edwardsville upended ULM eight to five, UT Arlington topped McNeese 12 to six. Southeastern Louisiana lost its first game of the season as it fell to Samford nine to three. Stephen F Austin edged Northwestern State five to four.

On the softball diamond…LSU defeated U-L Lafayette four to one after the Lady Cajuns rallied to beat the Tigers in Baton Rouge on Saturday.

College basketball…LSU lost again on Saturday night, falling to Ole Miss 82-69.

The Ragin Cajuns are the two seed in the Sun Belt Tournament and they’ll play Saturday against the winner of Thursday’s game between Georgia Southern and ULM.

The Pelicans will try to end a three-game losing streak tonight as New Orleans hosts Orlando. The Pels lost to the Knicks 128 to 106 on Saturday.
