The top ranked LSU baseball team crushed Kentucky last night 16 to 6 as Jordan Thompson and Brayden Joubert each hit a grand slam. Louisiana Tech signee Paris Guillory has been anmed the Class 3A Girls Basketball Player of the Year. Guillory completed a standout career at St. Louis Catholic in Lake Charles by averaging 27 points, 11 rebounds and four assists a game this past season.

This afternoon, the LSU Gymnastics squad competes in the semifinals of the NCAA Championships in Fort Worth, Texas.

The Pelicans season came to an end last night with a 123 to 118 loss to Oklahoma City. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 25 second-half points to lead the Thunder past New Orleans in the play-in tournament game. S-G-A finished with 32 points.

Coach Willie Green says it’s a disappointing end to the season. When Zion Williamson was healthy, the Pels looked like one of the best teams in the NBA, but Zion has been out since early January and other injuries also crippled their team…

Defensive analyst Gerald Chatman took over as interim D-line coach and coach Brian Kelly says will be a candidate for the full-time position. Kelly said he’s looking for someone who can recruit in the SEC and develop players and should have a decision soon…

The UL-Lafayette baseball team won its sixth straight last night defeating in-state rival Louisiana tech 10-5. The Cajuns improve to 24-9 on the season. They’ll look to earn win 25 tonight in Hammond against Southeastern. First pitch is at 6:00

Macklin says Sims collapsed at work yesterday and died at the age of 54.

Sims played at LSU from 1987 to 1991 and averaged almost 10 points a game during his career. He was part of the 1991 SEC Championship team. The DeRidder native is the father of LSU basketball player Wayde Sims, who was killed in 2018 in a shooting near the Southern University campus.

Last night the 12th ranked LSU softball team lost to top ranked Oklahoma three to nothing in front of a sold out crowd at Tiger Park. LSU returns to SEC play on Friday as they visit Auburn.

The top-ranked LSU Tigers took care of Tulane last night eleven to five as Tommy White and Brayden Jobert (Joe-bear) combined to drive in six runs and Bryce Collins earned his first win in relief.

John Taylor and Heat Hood each drove in three runs as the Cajuns defeated Louisiana Tech ten to five. That’s six straight wins for U-L Lafayette.

Grambling outscored Mississippi Valley State 12 to 11. Southern swept a doubleheader from Prairie View.

The UL-Lafayette appeared in Collegiate Baseball’s National Poll for the first time this season. The  No. 28 Cajuns are 23-9 on the season and 9-3 in the Sun Belt. They’ll open a 5-game week tonight as they host 16-16 Louisiana Tech

The Pelicans announced guard Jose Alvarado has been cleared to resume on-court basketball activities after suffering a stress reaction to his right Tibia in late February. He has been ruled out for tomorrow’s play-in game against the Thunder and is not expected to play for at least another week. Forward Larry Nance did participate in practice today and his status will be monitored for tomorrow’s play-in matchup. 

Zion Williamson spoke to the media for the first time since re-aggravating his hamstring. He said his experience dealing with injury last year has helped but not being able to play still “sucks…”

Buccaneers Pro-Bowl linebacker and former first-round pick out of LSU Devin White has requested a trade. White is in the fifth year of his rookie contract worth $11.7 million with a multiyear deal the next step, but sources say he’s grown increasingly frustrated with the team. The Bucs reportedly have no intention of trading him.
