The top ranked LSU baseball team had another dominating performance last night as they defeated Grambling 17 to five. Dylan Crews picked up two more hits to raise his season average to .542. The Tigers begin a series against Tennessee tomorrow at Alex Box Stadium.

Louisiana Tech run-ruled Sacramento State 14 to 4 in eight innings. Jorge Corona hit two home runs and drove in four runs. McNeese over Southern 12 to five.

ULM and Louisiana Tech announced they will play each other in football in 2030 and 2031. The northeast Louisiana schools have not faced each other since the 2000 season.

Saints coach Dennis Allen provided an update on wide receiver Michael Thomas who had surgery last year on his troublesome ankle…

A rough second half at Golden State ended the Pelicans five-game winning streak last night. The Warriros outscored New Orleans 74 to 46 in the second half and went on to win 120 to 109. There are six games left in the regular season and New Orleans currently occupies the eighth seed in the Western Conference. The Pels are at Denver tomorrow night.

The No. 1 LSU Baseball team had an easy time versus Grambling Tuesday as the Tigers exploded for a 17-5 victory in 7 innings. It’s the 8th run-rule win of the season for the Bayou Bengals. Designated hitter Cade Beloso launched a three-run homer and collected four RBI, and Dylan Crews, who leads the nation in hitting, had two hits pushing his hitting streak to 23 games. LSU will take on No. 10 Tennessee in a highly anticipated SEC series beginning Thursday.

The LSU Women’s Basketball Team had a huge fan send-off to the Final 4 Tuesday. The Tigers will face No. 1 seeded Virginia Tech Friday. When Coach Kim Mulkey was at Baylor she faced The Hokies in the 2021 NCAA Tournament. Baylor won 90-48 but Mulkey says she could see budding talent:

Steph Curry led Golden State to a 120-109 comeback victory over the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday. The Pels led by 17 at the half, but Curry exploded for the Warriors finishing with 39 points.

The Saints have signed former Raiders wide receiver Bryan Edwards. Edwards was drafted by the Raiders in the third round in 2020 and had his best season with new Saints quarterback Derek Carr in 2021. New Orleans Saints Coach Dennis Allen said they saw Edwards’ talent coming out of the draft and liked his chemistry with Carr…:

At the NFL owners meetings on Tuesday, Allen shared an update on wide receiver Michael Thomas and his recovery from toe surgery. He said Thomas is making progress but is not 100%, but the team feels good about how things are going.

LSU remains ranked number one in all of the college baseball polls after sweeping Arkansas in a doubleheader on Saturday. The Tigers are 21-and-3 and led offensively by Dylan Crews, who is leading the nation with a .531 batting average and Tommy White is hitting .392. The two have combined to hit 17 home runs and drive in 74 runs. Coach Jay Johnson says they are a big reason why they lead the nation in runs scored…

The Pelicans will visit the Warriors tonight in a critical matchup in the western conference playoff race. After winning their last five games including last night’s 124-90 rout of Portland, the Pels find themselves in 8th half a game behind the Timberwolves and one game behind 6th place Golden state. A win tonight would propel New Orleans into 6th, avoiding the play-in tournament with just 7 games left in the season. Warriors’ starters Draymond Green and Jordan Poole are both listed as probable. Tip-off is at 9:00.

Defensive tackle Malcolm Roach is back with the Saints after signing a one-year deal with the Black and Gold. Roach had a career-high 26 tackles last season for New Orleans. He’s from Baton Rouge and played high school football at Madison Prep…

Ul-Lafaytte catcher Julian Brock was named the Sun Belt player of the week after leading the Cajuns to four wins in five games last week. Brock homered in four of five games tallying five home runs and 14 RBI’s as the Cajuns got their first series win over South Alabama since 2016. ULL now sits at 18-7 on the season and starts ut conference play with a 5-1 record. The Ragin’ Cajuns will return to action Friday as they host Appalachian State in a 3 game Sun Belt Conference series this weekend.

LSU women’s basketball now knows its opponent in Friday night’s national semi-final game as they will face Virginia Tech who defeated Ohio State last night.

The Pelicans continued their late season surge last night as they easily defeated Portland 124 to 90. Brandon Ingram, named the Western Conference Player of the Week, had 29 points as New Orleans won its fifth straight. All five victories have been by double digits. New Orleans is 38-and-37 and in eighth place in the West, a half game back of Golden State, who they play tonight in San Francisco.

The Saints have signed a big-body wide receiver familiar with new starting quarterback Derek Carr. Bryan Edwards played with Carr and the Raiders in 2020 and 2021. In 2021 he started 12 games and caught 34 passes for 571 yards and three touchdowns. Edwards says seeing a couple of former Raider players now in New Orleans made the opportunity exciting for him…

LSU needs a new defensive line coach as Jamar Cain has left the program to be a pass rush specialist coach for Sean Payton and the Denver Broncos. On the offensive line, LSU returns it starting tackles from last season, Emery Jones and Will Campbell. Both started last season as freshmen, a rare feat in the SEC. But Jones says they are not reflecting what they did last season…

LSU will play the winner of tonight’s game between Virginia Tech and Ohio State in the national semi-finals on Friday night in Dallas.

The top-ranked LSU Baseball team used a six-run 4th inning to break a 4-4 tie and propel the Tigers to a 14-5 victory over No. 3 Arkansas in the series finale and second game of a Saturday doubleheader at Alex Box Stadium. In the first game of the day LSU beat the Razorbacks 12-2.

Louisiana Tech dropped the finale of a three game Conference USA series at Western Kentucky 5-2. The Bulldogs swept Saturday’s doubleheader, 5-3 and 3-2.

UL-Lafayette swept the doubleheader Saturday over South Alabama 22-5 and 10-6.

McNeese fell 8-5 Sunday to drop the Southland Conference Series versus Nicholls. Southeastern fell to Texas A&M Corpus Christi 3-1.

LSU needs to find a new defensive line coach as Jamar Cain has left the program to join Sean Payton in Denver as a pass rush specialist for the Broncos. Fourth-year junior Jacobian Guillory says it was tough news to take, but he still thinks LSU’s d-line will be elite, especially when injured players return for preseason camp…:

Kim Mulkey’s LSU Tigers are headed to the Elite Eight after topping Utah in the Sweet Sixteen Friday 66-63. It’s the first time the Purple and Gold have made it this far since 2008. It was a close game right up to the end and Mulkey says Utah played a heck of a game…:

LaDazhia Williams scored a season-high 24 points to lead the Tigers and Angel Reese, who fouled out late, scored 17 and grabbed 12 rebounds. And another big topic of the matchup was Mulkey’s pink feather trimmed blazer. She says being flashy is what we do in the Bayou State…:

LSU will now face Miami with a trip to the Final Four on the line at 6pm on Sunday.

The LSU Baseball Team fell in Game 1 of the Series against Arkansas 9-3 in 10 innings inside Alex Box Stadium. LSU right-hander Paul Skenes had another impressive outing on the mound, tossing his sixth straight double-digit strikeout game. The two teams will play a doubleheader today at 1pm and 6:30pm.

Elsewhere around the state in baseball, UL-Lafayette fell to South Alabama 12-11 in a back and forth matchup Friday in the opening game of a Sun Belt Conference Series. The Ragin Cajuns will also play a doubleheader today in Mobile beginning at 1pm.

The weather also postponed Louisiana Tech’s matchup with Western Kentucky in Bowling Green and the Bulldogs will play 2 games today and Game 3 on Sunday.

McNeese State topped Nicholls 8-3. Southeastern got the victory over Texas A&M Corpus Christi 10-4. UNO fell to Lamar 4-2. ULM lost to Troy 7-5.

At 4 PM, the third seeded LSU Lady Tigers take on second seeded Utah in the Sweet 16 round of the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament. LSU is led by six-foot-two All-American forward Angel Reese who is averaging 24 points and 16 rebounds a game. But Coach Kim Mulkey says they are not a one-person show…

Two teams ranked in the top five in college baseball square off in an SEC weekend series at Alex Box Stadium this weekend. Because of the threat of storms tonight. Game 1 of the series starts at noon and more rain is in the forecast for Sunday, so a doubleheader is scheduled for Saturday. Coach Jay Johnson says it’s important they get all three games in….

The Ragin Cajuns are also playing a doubleheader at South Alabama on Saturday. Game one of their series starts tonight in Mobile at 6:30. ULM is at Troy this weekend. Both teams are 0-3 in Sun Belt play.

The  Pelicans return to action tonight as they fight for a spot in the postseason. Injuries to key players have dropped the Pels from second in the West in January to 12th half a game back from tenth the final spot in the play-in tournament and only 3 games separate the New Orleans and 4th place Suns. Pels coach Willie Green says the injuries have been frustrating, but they still have a chance at making the postseason….

The Pels and Hornets tip-off at 7:00 tonight

Game one of the LSU-Arkansas Baseball series has been moved up to 12:00 tomorrow in Alex Box Stadium. The game was originally scheduled for 7:00 bu has been moved up due to inclement weather forecasts. Officials are monitoring weather patterns to determine if any adjustments to the start times of games 2 and 3 are needed.

The Saints signed former first-round pick, safety Jonathan Abram. Abram suffered a shoulder injury with the Raiders after they drafted him in 2019 and started the season last  year in Las Vegas. He appeared in two games for Green Bay, and finished off the last six games of the season with Seattle. Abram said last year was a learning experience…

Northwestern State announced the hiring of new basketball head coach Rick Cabrera. Tallahassee Community College’s Cabrera takes over after first-year head coach Corey Gipson left the program to take the head coaching job at Austin Peay. This will be Cabrera’s first D-1 coaching position but he’s averaged nearly 25 wins a season and won three coach of the year awards with Tallahassee and Lackawanna College.
