The Saints look to get to 2-0 on the season when they battle the Panthers tonight on Monday night football. Carolina swept the season series from New Orleans last season and since 2021, the Black and Gold have only averaged 12 points a game against the Panthers. Kick-off is at 6:15. New Orleans is a three point favorite.

The NFC South is showing signs that it’s better than what many people thought going into the season. Atlanta and Tampa Bay are both off to 2-0 starts. The Falcons rallied to beat the Packers 25 to 24 yesterday, while the Buccaneers defeated the Chicago Bears 27-17.

Meanwhile, Joe Burrow and the Bengals are 0-2 after losing to the Ravens 27-24. After the game, Burrow said his calf muscle which kept him out of most training camp is sore again. Also Sean Payton and the Broncos are 0-2 after losing to the Commanders 35-33.

LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels and wide receiver Malik Nabers are co-SEC Offensive Players of the Week as a result of their performances in Saturday’s 41-14 win over Mississippi State. Daniels was super sharp in Starkville completing 30 of 34 passes for 367 yards and a pair of touchdowns, he also rushed for two scores. Nabers caught 13 passes for 239 yards and two TDs.

A lot of the focus is on the offense’s performance against State, but the defense was outstanding as well, allowing just 79 yards in the first half. Coach Brian Kelly says the players on defense asked the coaching staff to push them harder…

LSU did not have safety Greg Brooks for the game and it’s unclear when he’ll be available to play again. Kelly says Brooks suffered a medical emergency and can’t provide anymore information.

LSU is up two spots in the AP poll to number 12 and the Tigers are the highest ranked one loss team. Alabama is 13 and it’s the first time the Crimson Tide are out of the Top 10 since 2015.

The Ragin Cajuns had a solid win on Saturday at UAB as Zeon Chriss replaced an injured Ben Woolridge and led U-L Lafayette to a 41-21 win at UAB. Chriss threw for 174 yards and rushed for 103 years including an 80-yard TD run.

Despite scoring 23 points in the fourth quarter, La Tech fell to North Texas as the Mean Green made a field goal with three seconds left to beat the Bulldogs 40-37. A key stat was third down. North Texas converted 11 of 18 times, while the Bulldogs were 5 of 14. Tech head coach Sonny Cumbie…

Kelly says he also wants to get John Emery in the mix, who is avaialble after sitting out the first two games…

Mississippi state has an impact player on offense. Jo’Quavious Marks leads the SEC in rushing and he needs one more catch to become Mississippi State’s all-time leading receiver.

The Ragin Cajuns are back on the road this Saturday to face U-A-B. The Blazers are 1-and-1 under first-year head coach and former NFL quarterback Trent Dilfer. They beat North Carolina A-and-T in the season opener but lost last Saturday to Georgia Southern. 14th ranked LSU gearing up to face Mississippi State on Saturday. The Bulldogs run a 3-3-5 defense, which means three defensive linemen, three linebackers, and five defensive backs. This unit forced five turnovers in an overtime win over Arizona last Saturday. State’s defense also had nine tackles for a loss, eight pass breakups, and one sack. LSU offensive lineman Emery Jones says the Dogs like to move people around at the line of scrimmage.

LSU and Mississippi State kick off at 11 AM on Saturday. The Tigers did not play well in a pair of 11 a.m. kickoffs last year. They got behind early to Tennessee last October and fell to the Volunteers 40-13 and played a sluggish game on a cold day in November in Fayetteville, but still beat Arkansas 13-10. Defensive tackle Mekhi Wingo knows they need to bring the juice this Saturday.

Louisiana Tech is trying to get its passing game going as the Bulldogs get ready to host North Texas. Hank Bachmeier has thrown for 684 yards after three games and told reporters this week he could play better and it starts with finishing drives in the red zone.
