No changes at the top of the high school football rankings. John Curtis, St. Thomas More, University High, Calvary Baptist and Ouachita Christian are all ranked number one in their respective classes. In Class 5A, Airline is a newly ranked team, as they are ranked ninth and will visit Natchitoches Central this Friday.

The Saints return to work tomorrow as they look to get the bad taste out of their mouth after blowing a 17 point fourh quarter lead and losing to Green Bay 18-17. Coach Dennis Allen says it’s a difficult defeat but they have to respond in a positive fashion…

New Orleans will host Tampa Bay this Sunday. The Buccaneeers were no match for the Eagles last night as they lost to Philadephia at home 25-11.

The Saints have released wide receiver Tre’Quan Smith from injured reserve, which allows him to sign with another team. And New Orleans has reportedly signed quarterback Jake Lufton off the Panthers practice squad to their 53-man roster as the Saints currently do not have a third-string Q-B.

If Carr can’t go in Week 4, it’ll likely be Jameis Winston taking the reins for a start against his former team in the Bucs.

Meanwhile, Alvin Kamara’s three-game suspension has ended, and the New Orleans running back took to X, formerly Twitter, to share his excitement. Kamara posted a hilarious video of his head photoshopped on someone happily leaving prison with the caption, “home free.”

The Saints host Tampa Bay this Sunday at Noon. The Bucs fell to the Eagles last night 25-11.

LSU ranks towards the bottom in several SEC defensive categories after four games. They are allowing 25 points a contest and 360 yards a game, which ranks 11th out of 14 teams. But Coach Brian Kelly believes once his players start doing ordinary things extraordinarily well, the defense will improve…:

For his part, LSU Quarterback Jayden Daniels was named the SEC Offensive Player of the Week for the second straight week.

The Tigers will face Ole Miss in Oxford Saturday at 5pm. Game time was announced for LSU’s game next weekend at Missouri. The fan favorite 11am kickoff.

Joe Burrow still hobbled around the field and was far from his best, but the former LSU Quarterback helped lead his Bengals to a 19-16 win over the Rams last night. Burrow has been dealing with a calf strain since the start of the season.

Saints head coach Dennis Allen said today they dodged a bullet with the injury to Derek Carr’s right shoulder. Allen confirmed it is an A-C sprain and he’s already feeling better after suffering the injury during the third quarter of Sunday’s one-point loss to Green Bay. Allen is not closing the door on Carr playing this Sunday at home against Tampa Bay, but we have to wait to see how he responds to the injury…

The Saints host Tampa Bay on Sunday. The Buccaneers host the Eagles tonight. Also, the Bengals host the Rams and Joe Burrow is expected to play with that nagging calf injury.

For the second straight week, LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels has been named the SEC Offensive Player of the Week. Daniels started slow against Arkansas but finished 20 of 29 for 320 yards and four touchdowns to help LSU beat the Razorbacks by three points.

The Tigers needed Daniels to have another big night because the defense couldn’t stop giving up big plays.
LSU’s defense allowed 426 yards as there were a few blown coverages. Coach Brian Kelly says they will keep working at it as they begin a two-game road trip this Saturday at Ole Miss…

A painful loss for the Saints yesterday as New Orleans led 17-0 going into the fourth quarter and lost 18-17. Quarterback Derek Carr went down with an injury in the third quarter and backup Jameis Winston could not lead New Orleans to any points.

Based on reports Carr suffered an A-C sprain of his shoulder. The injury is not expected to be season-ending, but he is expected to miss some time. So that means Winston will likely get the start at quarterback this Sunday when New Orleans hosts Tampa Bay…

The Saints may have to sign another quarterback. Rookie Jake Haener is serving a six-game suspension and New Orleans does not have a Q-B on its practice squad. Ian Book is a possibility as he’s a free agent.

The LSU Tigers dropped one spot to 13 in the latest A-P Top 25 poll after a hard-fought 31-28 victory over Arkansas. LSU’s defense had trouble stopping the Razorbacks on Saturday night. Hogs quarterback K-J Jefferson threw for 289 yards and rushed for another 48 yards. LSU Coach Brian Kelly gives credit to Jefferson for making it a tough game…

A couple of transfers from LSU have played well for the Hogs. Defensive lineman Landon Jackson has six tackles for a loss and two sacks. Dwight McGlothern has flourished in Fayetteville. He already has an interception and a forced fumble, despite a turf toe injury.

Louisiana Tech cut the ribbon on its Champions Plaza last night and there are now six statues of their greatest athletes, Terry Bradshaw, Willie Roaf, Karl Malone, Tereasa Weatherspoon, the late Fred Dean, and Kim Mulkey. Mulkey led the Lady Techsters to a national title in 1982 and now there’s a statue of her on campus…

LSU starting safety and captain Greg Brooks continues his recovery from surgery to remove what his family has described as a large brain tumor. Since the start of preseason camp, Brooks complained about dizzy spells and bouts of vertigo. The family says its awaiting biopsy results.

12th ranked LSU prepared well for last week’s test against Mississippi State and passed with flying colors, a 41-14 victory over the Bulldogs. Center Charles Turner says the Tigers learned a good week of practice can lead to good results, so they are having physical practices again ahead of Saturday’s Arkansas game…

The Saints first injury report of the week lists tight end Foster Moreau and running back Jamaal Williams as non-participants in a walk-through practice that was held late yesterday afternoon. But rookie running back Kendre Miller, who missed the first two games with a hamstring injury was estimated to be a full participant. Tight end Taysom Hill is also battling a knee injury, which made him a limited participant yesterday.

A banged up Louisiana Tech football team will visit Nebraska on Saturday afternoon. Starting Quarterback Hank Bachmeier injured his shoulder in last week’s loss to North Texas and did not return and Coach Sonny Cumbie says the team’s leading rusher on the season, Keith Willis, is out with a high ankle sprain. Also Charvis Thornton is questionable…

LSU safety Greg Brooks is recovering after undergoing brain surgery to remove what his family says was a large tumor. Coach Brian Kelly said an MRI detected the tumor after Brooks complained about dizzy spells. Kelly says it’s too early to tell if Brooks will play again…

The Saints are 2-and-0 and the defense is a big reason for the franchise’s first 2-0 start since 2013. They’ve only allowed 32 points in the first two games and Coach Dennis Allen was asked if they can keep holding teams to less than 20 points a game…

Going back to last season, the Saints have held opponents to 20 points or fewer in ten straight regular-season games and 11 of 12.

But the Saints will not have safety Marcus Maye for the next three games. He’s been suspended for violating the league’s policy on substance abuse. May was arrested in 2021 for a DUI and accepted a plea deal in late August.
