Alabama is ranked 9th in the AP Poll and it was made official today. CBS will televise the game and it will be a 6:45 kickoff from Tuscaloosa.

Louisiana Tech will be in action tomorrow night as the the Bulldogs host New Mexico State. The Aggies are 5-and-3, 3-and-1 in Conference USA and coming off a three touchdown victory over longtime rival UTEP. Tech has not played in two weeks since losing at Middle Tennessee 31-23.

Because the Saints played last Thursday, they had yesterday off. Running back Alvin Kamara probably needed the weekend off after getting close to 30 touches in the seven point loss to Jacksonville. Coach Dennis Allen was asked why Kamara got the ball so much when Jamaal Williams and Kendre Miller were available…

The Saints are in Indianapolis this Sunday. The Colts lost a wild game in Indy yesterday falling to the Browns 39-38. Atlanta leads the NFC South with a 4-and-3 record after beating the Buccaneers on a last a second field goal. New Orleans has a 3-and-4 record and they are in third place in the NFC South.

LSU’s first-ever matchup against Army in Tiger Stadium was a one-sided affair as the Bayou Bengals blanked the Black Knights 62-0. Army’s starting quarterback and one of its top receivers did not play because of injuries, but Coach Brian Kelly still sees his defense making progress…

LSU running back Trey Holly has been named SEC Freshman of the Week. The former Union Parish star made his Tigers debut last Saturday and had a 67-yard touchdown run. It’s the fourth straight game LSU has rushed for more than 200 yards in a game.

LSU has received a commitment from a cornerback out of Mississippi. P-G Woodland from Oak Grove High School in Hattiesburg is rated as a three-star recruit.

Northwestern State safety Ronnie Caldwell was laid to rest on Saturday. He was fatally shot during the middle of the night on October 12th at his apartment complex. Two people have been arrested in connection with his case, but no one has been charged with murder. Natchitoches Police spokesperson John Greely says detectives continue to vigorously investigate this homicide…

One of the people arrested was a member of the Northwestern State football team. Defensive tackle Maurice Campbell of Memphis was charged with obstruction of justice.

Tonight it’s Game Seven of the American League Championship Series. The Road team has won every game so far, so can the Astros break the trend. Later this afternoon, the Phillies can return to the World Series if they beat the Diamondbacks. Aaron Nola gets the start on the mound for Philly in the Game Six of the NLCS.

We’ll have a Game 7 in the ALCS tonight as the Rangers routed the Astros nine to two. A Phillies win tonight for the D-Backs and they are headed to the World Series for a second consecutive year.

The Ragin Cajuns found themselves down 20-0 to Georgia State in the 2nd quarter on homecoming night, they battled back but lost 20-17. They had a chance to win on the final play, but Zeon Chriss threw an interception in the end zone. Coach Michael Desormeaux wishes he had that first half back…

The Ragin Cajuns are at South Alabama this Saturday.

ULM fell to 0-4 in the Sun Belt after losing 38-28 to Georgia Southern. The Warhawks are back home this Saturday to host Arkansas State.

Nicholls is tied for first place in the Southland after a solid 27-7 win over Texas A-and-M Commerce. McNeese nearly upset fifth ranked UIW but the Cardinals pulled off a 35-24.

The Ragin Cajuns have a big homecoming game on Saturday night as they host 5-and-1 Georgia State. The Panthers are coming off a 41-24 win over Marshall. G-S-U is led by redshirt senior quarterback Darren Grainger, who is second in the Sun Belt in total offense. Cajuns Coach Michael Desormeaux says Grainger has thrown just two interceptions…

This will be the seventh meeting between the two schools and the Cajuns have won the previous six contests.

In other action on Saturday…ULM is at Georgia Southern. The Eagles are 4-and-2 on the season, while the Warhawks are two and four.

23rd ranked Tulane hosts North Texas. The Green Wave are trying to improve to 6-and-1.

In FCS Action…McNeese hosts fifth ranked UIW, while Nicholls is at Texas A-and-M Commerce. On Thursday night, Southeastern Louisiana got its first win as they defeated Northwestern State 37-20.

The Saints were so close from pulling off a big comeback, but they came up short in a 31-24 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. New Orleans’ offense failed to score in the first three quarters and they were down 24-9. They started playing up tempo and scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter and had a chance at a third, but Foster Moreau dropped a potential touchdown pass in the final seconds that could have led to the game being tied. Quarterback Derek Carr says no one should point the finger at Foster for this loss…

Carr threw for 301 yards and a touchdown. He also threw a pick six and he was again animated on the sidelines expressing his frustration as the offense had several drives fizzle out as they got close to the goal line. The Saints next game is October 29th at Indianapolis.

Last night in Natchitoches, Southeastern Louisiana outscored Northwestern State 16-3 in the second half as the Lions won their first game of the year 37-20. The Demons remain winless and the team will head to Texas to attend the funeral of safety Ronnie Caldwell, who was fatally shot last week.

Saturday’s game between LSU and Army is only the second time these two teams have played each other on the football field. The first game took place in 1931 and Army won 20-0 in West Point. It’s the first time the Tigers have hosted a U-S Service Academy School in football.

The Cajuns host the 5-and-1 Georgia State Panthers tomorrow night for homecoming. In six previous meetings, U-L Lafayette has never lost to the Panthers, but Coach Michael Desormeaux doesn’t care about that stat…

The Saints starting offensive tackles will not play…Ryan Ramczyk and James Hurst are out with injuries. But 2022 first round pick Trevor Penning will reportedly not start. ESPN’s Ed Werder says expect to see New Orleans start Andrus Peat at left tackle and Cameron Erving, who was elevated from the practice today to play right tackle. Erving has been in the NFL since 2015 and has made 56 starts with four different teams. Also running back Jamaal Williams has been activated from injured reserve.

It should be an emotional night in Natchitoches tonight as Northwestern State hosts Southeastern Louisiana. This game was moved up to Thursday night so that the Northwestern football team can attend safety Ronnie Caldwell’s funeral. Caldwell was fatally shot last week. Kick-off is at 7 PM.

LSU defensive end Paris Shand had a break out performance in last Saturday’s win over Auburn as the transfer from Arizona had a career-high six tackles, 1.5 tackles for a loss and a pass batted down. Shand grew up in Canada and was a standout basketball player. He says an accounting teacher urged him to try football, so he did…

The LSU Board of Supervisors meets tomorrow and they are expected to approve a new contract for Jay Johnson, making him the second highest paid coach in college baseball with a seven-year, 12.55 million deal.

Saints running back Jamaal Williams will reportedly be activated off injured reserve so it will be the first time we’ve seen Williams and Alvin Kamara play in the same game as teammates.

The Saints starting offensive tackles have been ruled out for tomorrow’s game against Jacksonville. Ryan Ramczyk has a concussion, while James Hurst is dealing with a foot injury. Also out Juwan Johnson has a calf injury, J-T Gray has a hamstring injury and Landon Young has a hip injury.

Linebacker DeMario Davis is questionable with a knee injury and Saints Coach Dennis Allen says Davis will be a gametime decision. Jaguars starting quarterback Trevor Lawrence is questionable with a knee injury.

The Pelicans concluded preseason play last night with a 104-92 win over Orlando. Zion Williamson had 16 points, three rebounds and five steals in 16 minutes. He also made six of eight field goals. Brandon Ingram had a team high 18 points. The Pels will tip off the regular season on Wednesday at Memphis against the Grizzlies.

Alex Bregman and the Astros need a win tonight. Texas leads the ALCS two games to none.

In the last two games, LSU has been penalized because of defensive players clapping. It’s a penalty because the refs believe LSU’s defensive players are trying to mimic the quarterback when he calls for the snap. Coach Brian Kelly says the players clapping are in the defensive secondary and they are only trying to get the attention of their teammates…

LSU wide receiver Malik Nabers has been named to the first-team midseason All-American team by the Associated Press. Quarterback Jayden Daniels has been selected to the second team. Nabers leads the nation in receiving yards with 860 on 52 catches. Daniels leads the nation in total offense, passing efficiency and rushing yards by a quarterback.

The Saints are back on the football field tomorrow as they will host the Jacksonville Jaguars. Jags quarterback Trevor Lawrence injured his knee last Sunday and he was limited in practice yesterday. But New Orleans defensive coordinator Joe Woods says they are expecting Lawrence will play tomorrow….

The Saints have their own injury issues. Starting offensive tackles James Hurst and Ryan Ramczyk did not practice yesterday. Linebacker Demario Davis is dealing with a knee injury and did not practice yesterday.

Louisiana’s favorite commissioner, Roger Goodell, has received a three year contract extension that will keep him in charge of the NFL through March 2027. Goodell is 64-years-old and ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that some believe this will be his final deal.

It will be LSU and Army Saturday night. The Tigers defense has shown improvement over the last seven quarters. Coach Brian Kelly says the players have bought into worrying about their own assignments…

The LSU women’s basketball team ranked number one in the preseason AP Poll. The LSU men picked to finish 13th in the SEC. The Pelicans won a preseason game last night as they defeated Orlando 104 to 92. Brandon Ingram had a team high 18 points.
