Everyone has their favorite Thanksgiving dish or food. Oyster dressing is a popular one for many. Chairman of the Louisiana Oyster Task Force, Mitch Jurisich, says if you’ve never had oyster dressing, you do not know what you’re missing. He says most people who try it, want it to be a holiday staple…

The drama over whether former LSU football coach Brian Kelly will receive his entire buyout of nearly 54-million dollars is over. Yahoo Sports reporter Ross Dellenger reports that LSU has informed Kelly they are firing him without cause and he’ll receive his 54-million dollars in monthly payments over the next six years.

An Angola death row inmate is back in Monroe after a district judge granted him bail. Jimmie Duncan was convicted in 1998 after prosecutors convinced a jury he raped and drowned his girlfriend’s toddler in a bathtub. But Duncan’s attorneys have shown enough forensic evidence that fourth Judicial District Court Judge Alvin Sharp ruled he should be released on a 150-thousand dollar bond. Prosecutors, including the Attorney General’s Office, are asking the State Supreme Court to overturn the trial court’s recent ruling.

It’s Thanksgiving, and our own Andrew Greenstein got some opinions from some people on their impressions of the holiday.

Sixty-four high school football teams practiced this morning as they are preparing for their quarterfinals games tomorrow night. The defending state champions in Division Three select, the Catholic High New Iberia Panthers are visiting top-seeded Lafayette Christian. The LHSAA Network’s Spencer Verrett says Catholic has a had a great year, but this could be the end of the road for the Panthers…

Tomorrow is the biggest shopping day of the year, Black Friday. Wallethub’s Chris Lupo warns that discounts this year may not be as potent as they seem. Some retailers will raise prices before discounting them while prices on other items like electronics have increased due to tariffs and a lackluster economy. He says shoppers need to do their homework.

Brian Kelly is officially no longer LSU’s football coach.  Coach Kelly was informed that he’s been fired without cause and the school sill pay his entire 54-million dollar buyout.  We’re told Kelly will get monthly payments over six years, as long as he’s making a good faith effort to find another job.

Pro Football Hall of Famer Marshall Faulk will reportedly be the next head coach at Southern University. The New Orleans native has served as Colorado’s running backs coach this season.

It’s Bayou Classic weekend in New Orleans as Southern University will face Grambling State on Saturday in the Caesars Superdome. The event is more than just a football game as there are several activities surrounding the matchup of the two HBCU Schools. Dottie Belleto with the Bayou Classic says tomorrow two student teams each from Southern and Grambling will compete each other as they present innovative business concepts…

It’s Bayou Classic weekend in New Orleans as Southern University will face Grambling State on Saturday in the Caesars Superdome. The event is more than just a football game Dottie Beletto with the Bayou Classic says there are several activities surrounding the matchup, including a business competition for students, a Black Small Business showcase, and there will be a Fan Festival on Saturday beginning at nine am.

Bayou Classic Weekend is a big one for the Crescent city as more than 200-thousand people make the trip to New Orleans for the game and all that surrounds it.

Something all those people will likely be talking about is who will reportedly be Southern’s new football coach.  It’s Pro Football Hall of Famer Marshall Faulk.  The New Orleans native has served as Colorado’s running backs coach this season.

The Lane Kiffin saga will be a big topic around the Thanksgiving dinner table. Ross Dellenger of Yahoo Sports said on Tiger Rag Radio it’s looking like Kiffin will leave Ole Miss for LSU. Ole Miss A-D Keith Carter said a decision on Kiffin’s coaching future will be announced Saturday. Dellenger says if Kiffin does not sign a contract extension with the Rebels, he’ll likely be suspended or placed on leave, which will result in Kiffin leaving Oxford…

Tiger Rag is reporting that Kiffin and LSU interim head coach Frank Wilson have been talking recruiting regularly in recent days.

Former LSU and current New England Patriots left tackle Will Campbell is being placed on Injured Reserve after being carted off in the third quarter of the 26-20 win over Cincinnati. Campbell will miss at least the next four games with a knee injury, but there’s hope that he will be able to return before the regular season ends.

The Quarterfinals of the Louisiana High School football playoffs kick off Friday. LHSAA Network’s Spencer Verrett says the chaos of the D-1 non-select bracket has lived up to the hype. 26th seeded Barbe upset Northwood and West Monroe, but Verrett says their Cinderella run will have to go through second-ranked Neville.

Interim head coach James Borrego will look to make it two wins in a row as the Pelicans host the Memphis Grizzlies in their final NBA cup matchup tonight at 7 p.m.

Tulane is ranked 24th in the most recent College Football Playoff rankings and just two wins away from a playoff berth as the top ranked group of five school. A win at home over 1-and-10 Charlotte Saturday means the Green Wave will host an American Conference Championship game. Their most likely opponent is one-loss North Texas.

College football writer Ross Dellenger of Yahoo Sports says the signs are pointing toward Lane Kiffin leaving Ole Miss and heading to LSU. But Dellenger says there are no guarantees Kiffin will be the next head coach at LSU…

Dellenger reports Florida officials have started to pursue other candidates and Ole Miss administrators have begun to reach out to potential replacement coaches.

The Louisiana High School Football quarterfinals are on Friday. In Division II select, the defending state champion Archbishop Shaw Eagles travel to Shreveport to face the Loyola Prep Flyers. Verrett says Loyola Prep has a dangerous pass attack, but believes the Eagles’ secondary could cause problems for junior quarterback Bryce Restovich and his offense.

With the holidays upon us, that means flu activity is ramping up and Louisiana leads the nation in reported cases, according to the CDC.  Dr. Julio Figueroa with LSU Health New Orleans says if you’re experiencing flu-like symptoms, the very best thing you can do is to stay home and to stay away from people who are susceptible to illness.

With Thanksgiving being one of the worst times of the year for serious crashes, State Police remind you to make an extra effort to drive safely. It should be common knowledge by now that speed kills. But Trooper Ryan Davis also reminds you that the roads are not to be treated as NASCAR racetracks – do not follow the vehicle in front of you too closely!

We must wait a few more days before we know what Lane Kiffin will do. Does the Ole Miss football coach stay in Oxford or is he coming to LSU. Kiffin has been at Ole Miss for six seasons, winning 10 or more games in four of those seasons. This year, he has the Rebels on the cusp of making the College Football playoffs. Ross Dellenger of Yahoo Sports says he spoke with Kiffin two weeks ago and Kiffin said he loves it in Oxford, but it’s also believed he wants to coach for a Blue Blood…

Dellenger believes Kiffin will be the next head football coach at LSU.

Louisiana leads the nation in reported flu cases according to the CDC. Doctor Julio Figueroa with LSU Health New Orleans says if you have not received the flu shot, it would be a good time to get it…

The highways are filled with vehicles heading to their Thanksgiving destinations. AAA projects at least 73 million people will travel by car. According to AAA, the statewide average for a gallon of regular gasoline is $2.62. That’s about ten cents cheaper than a year ago. Fuel analyst Don Redman…

About six-million people are flying this Thanksgiving holiday. That’s a 15-percent increase from 2019.

State Police is asking Louisiana residents to celebrate Thanksgiving responsibly. Trooper Ryan Davis says never take the wheel after you’ve had too much to drink. If you plan on having a good time – perhaps TOO good of a time – have a plan beforehand.
