An early morning fire in New Orleans has left 5 people dead in the Broadmoor area. A New Orleans Fire Department spokesperson says an elderly woman, and a woman and her three children were killed in the blaze. No other information on the victims has been released. The father of the children made it out of the home and called authorities. He was unsuccessful in returning to the home to save his family.

Fifty-one year-old Simon Fontenot, who is the step-son of the senior adult, is charged with one count of second-degree battery.
