Senator Mary Landrieu was asked about the LSU tailgating keg stand picture that went viral and raised eyebrows this week. She didn’t do a keg stand but she held the spigot for another man who was being held up. Landrieu says that’s just how we roll and tailgate parties:

Judge Edward Rubin’s made his ruling in a lawsuit filed by a same-sex couple requesting the state recognize their marriage certificate from California.

The state Department of Veterans Affairs says they’ve been approved for a grant to fund a State Veterans Cemetery in Rayville. Secretary David LaCerte says the $7.3 million dollars will fund 100% of the costs to develop the cemetery. He says the property is located near I-20 off Highway 425 and spans about 50 acres…:

Lacerte says they hope the site is complete by Spring 2016.

New Orleans Police are investigating the discovery of the deaths of a young child and a woman whose bodies were along Interstate 10. They say the bodies were at I-10 W along the Old Gentilly on ramp. The cause of death is undetermined at this time. Crews cutting the grass called police after making the discovery. Initial reports indicate the the woman and child had been there for several days.

According to a study by the state, tolls starting at 18 cents a mile could fund up to half of the $3 million dollar project which would finish I-49 South from Lafayette to New Orleans. Those pushing for the interstate to become a reality say the study proves tolls combined with federal and state dollars could make it actually happen.

The state Department of Revenue is preparing to offer Louisianians another amnesty period. LDR Secretary Tim Barfield told the Baton Rouge Press Club Monday that many tax payers wanted to participate last year, but couldn’t afford to pay 100-percent of the tax…:

Last year, the department was able to collect $452-million in delinquent taxes.

The Vermillion Parish Sheriff’s office says two people were killed and a juvenile is in the hospital following a 4-wheeler accident. Sheriff Mike Couvillion says the crash involved 34-year-old Shawn Lalonde, 29-year-old Kyle Dudding, and a 13-year-old at the intersection of Highway 35 and Clint Rd near Kaplan…

A West Monroe man with an apparent sweet tooth has been arrested on theft charges after trying to stuff over $36 dollars of candy bags from a Walgreens store in his pants legs. A weekend four-wheeling accident has killed two people, and has injured a juvenile on Highway 35 and Clint Road near Kaplan. Vermillion Parish Sheriff Mike Couvillion says the ATV apparently ran a stop sign, went airborne, then crashed into a ditch.

The St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested a 63-year-old Opelousas man for allegedly misusing the 9-1-1 emergency line. Authorities say Olan Deville called 9-1-1 eighteen times on September 20th requesting medical assistance only to cancel or refuse medical attention when the ambulance arrived. Deville is charged with 18 counts of criminal mischief among other charges.

Officials have confirmed two additional cases of West Nile Virus in Lafourche Parish. They say one case was confirmed in Cut Off and another in Thibodaux. The condition of the individuals is unknown at this time.

A small experimental aircraft similar to a helicopter crashed into a canal yesterday afternoon in Reserve at the St. John the Baptist Parish airport killing the two occupants. Authorities say as the gyrocopter was attempting to make a turn, the top rotor blades collapsed causing the aircraft to crash. The victims have been identified as 48-year-old Darren Mahler and 13-year-old Payton Wilt, both of Metairie. An FAA investigation is underway.
