The Louisiana Supreme Court has refused to hear convicted killer Brandon Scott Lavergne’s request for a new trial. Lavergne is serving life sentences for after pleading guilty to first-degree murder in August 2012 in the death of UL Lafayette student Mickey Shunick.

The US Supreme Court decides won’t hear a Baton Rouge case that involves whether a priest should report confessions of sex abuse against a minor. The church asked the nation’s highest court to review the case, after the Louisiana Supreme Court ruled that priests should be mandatory reporters like teachers. Legal analyst Tim Meche says the Catholic Church believes a confession is private and they’ll continue to protect that confidentiality despite the Supreme Court not hearing this specific case…:

State Police say they believe a medical condition may have caused a 78-year-old woman to crash in Washington Parish. Violet Jones of Franklinton died as a result of her injuries. Investigators say Jones possibly experienced a medical emergency while driving. Her vehicle traveled off the road down an embankment and came to rest in a ditch. Jones was pronounced dead on the scene.

Jennings Police say a 66-year-old man is behind bars accused of raping three girls ages 6,7 and 9. Deputy Chief Danny Semmes (Sims) says Clarence Bouley (Boo-Ley) allegedly assaulted the young girls in his home while his daughter was babysitting them. He says Bouley was booked into the Jefferson Davis Parish Jail on three counts of aggravated rape…:

The Diocese of Baton Rouge asked the nation’s highest court to review the case, after the Louisiana Supreme Court ruled that priests should be subject to mandatory reporting laws. Legal analyst Tim Meche:

The Baton Rouge Police Department says a woman is under arrest for allegedly using heroin while she was 7 months pregnant. They say 23-year-old Krista Miller was found unresponsive in a vehicle with drugs in her possession. She was booked into Parish Prison on $15,000 bond.

Tax season begins today as the I-R-S and the Louisiana Department of Revenue are now accepting individual income tax returns. Jeff Palermo has the story…:

Governor Bobby Jindal is taking a lot of heat today after continuing to insist there are so called Muslim “no-go zones” in Europe. In a speech on Islamic extremism, Jindal claimed there are certain Muslim communities in Europe which are not subject to the laws of that particular country. Leaders say there is no such thing.

Jennings Police have arrested a 66-year-old man accused of raping three girls, all under the age of 10. Deputy Chief Danny Semmes (Sims) says their investigation began when a government agency informed them of suspicious activity regarding Clarence Bouley (Boo-lay) of Jennings being in the presence of some young children. Semmes says the girls were interviewed by the Child Advocacy Center…:
