A Kenner woman has filed a civil lawsuit against Saints linebacker Junior Gallette, claiming he was physically and emotionally abusive to her during their 2-year relationship. Legal analyst Doug Sunseri says this is not good for Gallette or the Saints. Sunseri says now Gallette will be asked about his personal behavior with this woman under oath…

Gallette was booked with misdemeanor simple battery involving domestic abuse following an incident with this woman last month.

As part of a three-team trade, the Pelicans acquired Miami Heat point guard Norris Cole and sent John Salmons to the Phoenix Suns. Big upset in college baseball last night as Nicholls State defeated second ranked LSU six to three. The Tigers left 17 runners on base, while Colonels first baseman Seth Stevens had two hits and two RBIs. The Colonels, who at one time led six to nothing in this game, improved to three and one on the season. LSU is also 3-and-1 following the upset loss.

The state department of Revenue announces they will begin issuing tax refunds the week of March second, which is a week later than originally planned. Revenue Secretary Tim Barfield says the delay is in response to the recent increase and still unfolding developments centered around fraudulent tax returns filed across the country.

Wednesday was the deadline for statewide elected officials to file annual campaign finance reports for 2014. Vitter has reported $3.5 million in the bank for his campaign. The Assumption Parish Sheriff’s office has made an arrest in the case of 20-year-old a Labadieville man who was found dead in his yard. They say 61-year-old William Thompson confessed to detectives he stabbed Daquan Rainey because the victim took his cigarettes. Thompson is charged with mansalguther and is being held without bond.

This cold weather has lots of folks toting around firewood for various reasons but the Department of Ag and Forestry wants you to know there has been a confirmation of the Emerald Ash Borer in Louisiana. Commission Mike Strain says this pest attacks ash trees and could kill them. He wants the public to know it’s best to purchase firewood not more than 10 miles from where it will be burned…:
