It’s been a hot summer and it appears there’s no relief in sight. The Climate Prediction Center predicts above average temperatures for the next three months. State climatologist Barry Keim says 2016 has a chance to be one of the warmest on record…

Former state lawmaker Rick Gallot has been picked as the new president of Grambling State. Gallot says one of the first things he wants to do is to restore the university’s undergraduate nursing program….

Natchitoches Police say no charges will be filed at this time regarding the shooting death of a 15-year-old. The teenager was shot several times in a parking lot on Sunday afternoon. Police say he was in possession of an AK-47 style weapon at the time of the shooting and the shooter, a 21-year-old man, told authorities he fired his weapon when he was approached by the 15 year-old who is now dead. The District Attorney’s office is reviewing the case.

Jefferson Parish Sheriff Newell Normand says one of his deputies used lethal force on a man after he pointed a handgun at him. The officer-involved shooting occurred around midnight last night. Deputies were on the scene after a report came in about two suspicious suspects.

In the US Senate race….State Treasurer John Kennedy has received the endorsement of former governor Buddy Roemer, while US Representative Charles Boustany picks up an endorsement from Ag Commissioner Mike Strain.

A Jefferson Parish sheriff’s deputy has fatally shot a suspect inside a newspaper warehouse. The shooting ended a foot chase. Deputies received a call before midnight last night about two people “rolling shiny objects down a street.” The sheriff’s office the says the man shot had a nine millimeter handgun. No word on what happened to the other suspect or an identity of the man who was killed.

The Climate Prediction Center is calling for above average temperatures for the next three months. State Climatologist Barry Keim says 2015 was the warmest on record dating back to the 1880s and 2016 could be another record breaker….

Today at the Democratic National Convention, pro-life Democrats, will honor Governor John Bel Edwards with the Governor Casey Whole Life Leadership Award. Executive Director of Democrats for Life, Kristen Day, says Governor Casey was a pro-life governor in Pennsylvania who also advocated for women’s rights and higher minimum wage, so Governor Edwards was a clear choice for the award….

A robbery suspect has been fatally shot by deputies in Jefferson Parish. Deputies were chasing after two men toward an I-10 service road and one of the individuals ran inside a newspaper, warehouse where he allegedly turned around and pointed a gun at the officer. The sheriff’s office says the deputy fired six shots and they say the man who died was armed with a handgun.

At around midnight, a Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s deputy fatally shot a suspect, who allegedly pulled a gun and pointed it during an officer while on a foot chase. Deputies responded to an area near an I-10 service road after getting reports of two suspicious men rolling a shiny object down the street. The sheriff’s office says the victim was carrying a nine millimeter handgun. The victim’s name has not been released.

Smith says some companies jumped the gun and started drilling, expecting prices to rise, but the increase in supply pushed them back down. He says we’ve seen the number of oil rigs increase for the past three or four weeks in a row.

Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Brennan Matherne says the money was raised in just one day, and they were humbled by the love and support from the community.

He says the value of the cars sold was more than $1 million.

14 Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies traveled to Dallas to donate 25-thousand dollars to foundations in honor of the fallen police officers who died in the July 7th attack. Sheriff’s Office Spokesperson Brennan Matherne says the money raised will go directly to the officers families. He says they plan to do something similar with the other half of the money they raised for the families of the Baton Rouge police officers that were killed or injured on July 17th.
