Tropical Storm Harvey made another landfall in southwest Louisiana early this morning and Calcasieu Parish officials say they were spared. Sheriff Tony Mancuso says prior to landfall, roughly 200 residents had to be rescued after taking on water, but the parish is in pretty good shape. He says they are fortunate, because they could not have handled more water.

New Orleans received minimal impacts from Harvey and the city is in good shape to host the LSU-BYU football game on Saturday. Tickets for the contest went on sale today and LSU ticket Manager Brian Broussard says he’s not sure how many original ticket holders from Texas will come to New Orleans….

Calcaciseu Sheriff Tony Mancuso says they do have some flooding in their parish, but not as bad as what they were anticipating. Mancuso says unfortunately just across the Sabine River, the flooding is intense…

Louisiana has been spared from major damage from Tropical Storm Harvey. That’s according to Mike Steele with the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness. But Steele says we’re not in the clear yet as the central part of the state is expected to see heavy rainfall today…

Harvey continues to move across the state at around 8 miles per hour. State Climatologist Barry Keim says fortunately Louisiana has been spared from much of the flooding seen in Texas. He says that’s because the system ingested dry air.

Keim says the greatest rainfall total from Houston is nearly 52 inches, while Louisiana has topped out at about 22 inches so far.

A sheriff’s deputy in Lincoln Parish is recovering and one man is dead after an officer involved shooting on Highway 80 at around noon yesterday. State Trooper Michael Reichardt says the incident occurred after the deputy conducted a traffic stop.

Authorities in Texas are praising the work of the Cajun Navy, according to Governor John Bel Edwards. A Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s deputy is resing today after he was involved in a fatal police shooting on Highway 80 yesterday afternoon. State Police Troooper Michael Reichardt says the deputy and the suspect exchanged fire during a traffic stop and the investigation continues…

State Trooper Michael Reichardt says the cop was shot in an altercation during a traffic stop, but his bulletproof vest deflected the round. He says the deputy then returned fire on the suspect…:

State Police say I-10 Westbound at milepost 4 near the Texas state line is closed due to flooding. Motorists on the Texas side of the Sabine River who are unable to proceed west are being escorted the opposite direction by troopers, back into Louisiana. If you’re headed that way, LSP says it’s best to travel north via I-49 and US 171 in Lake Charles. However, travel to southeast Texas is strongly discouraged at this time due to flooding.

National media has been praising the efforts of the Cajun Navy 2016 for their rescue operations in Texas where thousands of people have become stranded due to catastrophic flooding from Harvey. For the second time, Tropical Storm Harvey has made landfall in the US. The storm hit at Cameron this morning near the Texas/Louisiana border. Cameron Parish OEP Director Danny Lavergne says they are ready…:

Edwards says more than 670 guardsmen are working on Harvey operations in the state. The storm is expected to become a tropical depression by Wednesday night. The entire state is under a flash flood watch through tomorrow evening.
