Harvey is now a major hurricane closing in on the Texas coast and growing in strength. State Climatologist Barry Keim says the National Hurricane Center has Harvey meandering inland in Texas over the weekend but then shifting towards Louisiana.

AAA projects Harvey could also drive up prices at the pump. Spokesperson Don Redman says refineries are shutting down as they prepare for the storm, which will impact supply.

On Saturday, American Humane will show off a new animal rescue vehicle in Walker. President and CEO Robin Ganzert says the 50-foot truck carries equipment and supplies. It can also shelter up to 100 pets and house emergency responders.

A Shreveport woman caught on camera stuffing 11 bottles of alcohol into her purse, pants, and bra has been arrested after the surveillance footage went viral. Cpl. Angie Willhite says officers responded to the incident at Thrifty Liquor Store on August 18.

This Saturday in Walker American Humane will show off the new 50-foot rescue vehicle that will help save lost pets during disasters. President and CEO Robin Ganzert says the vehicle can also serve as a wellness center, which is what it will do tomorrow from 9 am to 2 pm at Z-Time Fitness.

Harvey is expected to make landfall tonight or early tomorrow morning as a Category Three storm. The National Hurricane Center says catastrophic and life-threatening flooding is possible in Texas as some areas could get up to 35 inches of rain through Wednesday. Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards says what Harvey will do after this weekend is unknown….

Heavy rain from Harvey has moved into southwest Loisiana. Cameron and Vermilion Parish are under a tornado watch until 2 AM on Saturday. A voluntary evacuation has been ordered for low lying areas below Highway 14 in Vermilion Parish. A mandatory evacuation is in effect for southern Cameron Parish.

Forecasters are predicting southwest Louisiana will see 15 to 20 inches of rain over the next several days from Hurricane Harvey, which is expected to stall along the Louisiana coast. That’s not good news for the state’s rice crop. Weather conditions are deteriorating along the Texas coast as the eye of Hurricane Harvey approaches Corpus Christi. State Climatologist Barry Keim says this will be the first category three hurricane to make landfall in the U.S. since Hurricane Wilma in October 2005.

A Shreveport woman has been arrested after a video showed her stuffing bottles of liquor in her purse, pants, and even her bra at a convenience store. Shreveport Police say 37-year-old Sekonie Jones is charged with one count of misdemeanor theft. In a Facebook post, Jones says, “I hustle that’s what I do.”

A report by SmartAsset finds Louisiana is home to the third worst drivers in the country. Vice President of Financial Education AJ Smith says the Bayou State did poorly in most of their metrics.

The only category Louisiana did well in was the low rate of DUI arrests.

A woman in Jefferson Davis Parish is now a millionaire after winning $2 million in the Powerball. The woman works as an assistant manager at the Tiger Mart in Lake Arthur, and her manager April Lemaire says the winner still hasn’t decided how to spend the cash.

Forecasters say Harvey is now on the verge of becoming a category 3 Hurricane, and is still expected to make landfall overnight on the Texas coast near Corpus Christi. Stephen Carboni with the National Weather Service in Lake Charles says several models show Harvey will eventually turn east towards the Bayou State…:

A mandatory evacuation for Cameron Parish is ordered for all areas south of the Intracoastal Waterway.

If maximum sustained winds reach 111 mph, Harvey will be classified as a Category 3 major hurricane. It strengthened overnight and forecasters expect it to intensify even more. Analysts also said you can expect gas prices to rise due to Harvey.

Louisiana is home to the third worse drivers in the nation, according to a report by SmartAsset. Vice President of Financial Education AJ Smith says they found a lot of Louisianans are looking up speeding tickets and parking tickets on the web, which could mean they’re accumulating tickets at higher rates…:
