A Clinton man arrested by police last week tipped police off himself.  The Associated Press says 36-year-old Ryan Sharpe was not a suspect in three murders and one attempted murder in East Feliciana and East Baton Rouge Parishes until he called police and id’ed himself as the suspect.  Officers arrested Sharpe after leading them on a high speed chase.  The murders started in July and were all in a 15 mile radius…

GOP Chairman Roger Villere says current Governor John Bel Edwards doesn’t share the conservative beliefs of many in the state. He says U.S. Senator John Kennedy along with a few other strong Republican politicians have voiced interest in running in 2019.

Open enrollment for the Medicare program is now until December 7th for 2018 plans. State Insurance Commissioner Jim Donelon says this is the only time of the year when senior citizens can shop around for their plans and compare prices. An 18-month-old is dead following a gruesome murder.  New Orleans Police says the father, 45-year-old Mark Hambrick told police “God made him do it.” Police chief Michael Harrison says the exact motive is still unknown, however police are seeking any information about Hambrick that can help them with the investigation

The Animal Legal Defense Fund fought in court for years to have Tony removed from captivity. New Orleans Police detectives are investigating the death of a child who was attacked with a knife. Authorities are not releasing much other information. Over the weekend, an 11-month-old was shot and stabbed multiple times in Zachary. The child’s father, 33-year-old Fabian Smith, has been charged with murder.

The state Department of Children and Family Services will determine what will happen next to a child that was born to a 13-year-old girl in Baker. The teen left the child at the doorstep of one of her teachers. Baker Police Chief Carl Dunn says he’s getting the word out, because Louisiana law allows mothers to legally relinquish their newborns without reprcussions…

Numbers released by the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reporting Program find Louisiana once again leads the nation for murders, with a rate of 11.8 killed per 100,000 persons. But New Orleans based Crime analyst Jeff Asher says even though the state has the highest homicide rate in the county, the number of murders has declined over the last two decades…:

The report found that in 2016, there were 554 homicides in Louisiana.

The Coast Guard says it has suspended the search for a Texas man who disappeared when a platform exploded on Lake Pontchartrain. Authorities said seven people were injured in the Sunday night blast, including three who were in critical condition. The missing man is identified as 44-year-old Timothy Morrison of Katy, Texas.

State Police say a trooper was involved in a shooting in Jefferson Parish last night. They say during a traffic stop, shots were fired and a suspect transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries. LSP says no troopers were injured in the incident.
