A new child passenger safety law goes into effect Thursday. Under the new law, children 12 and under must be restrained in the back seat. And State Police Lt. Nick Manale says children are required to remain in car seats or boosters in the back seat of vehicles for as long as is appropriate for a child’s age and according to the car seat manufacturer’s instructions and height and weight limitations…

Two former LSU students are in prison for their roles in the alcohol-related hazing death of Max Gruver. Judge Beau Higginbotham sentenced Sean-Paul Gott of Lafayette and Ryan Isto of Montana to 30 days in the parish prison. Gott and Isto pleaded no contest to misdemeanor hazing.

Super ATV’s new manufacturing and distribution center in Shreveport is open. It will employ 75 workers. The Indiana based company specializes in aftermarket parts for ATVs and UTVs. The wife of a Concordia Parish deputy shot in the line of duty yesterday has offered an update via Facebook. Pamala Michelle Mackel expects her husband Walter to be in the hospital for the next few days as the bullet his left lung and kidney. The bullet has not been removed due to concerns of it causing further damage. The suspect that shot at the deputy is dead following an exchange of gunfire with the deputy.
