A missing person case in Avoyelles Parish ends in tragedy after authorities discover a body, and pin the brutal murder on the woman’s son and his girlfriend.  Authorities believe 20-year-Tristin James and his girlfriend, 18-year-old Hannah Desselle, killed the victim then drove the body away and dumped it. Sherriff Doug Anderson says after they arrested the two last week, Desselle fessed up.

Four years after the Legislature authorized medical marijuana in Louisiana patients appears to set to get access to the treatment. It should be available at select pharmacies by next week, and that’s a load off the shoulders of proponents who have hammered the state after the product was repeatedly delayed. Ag Commissioner Mike Strain says despite the wait, it was still a quick process compared to usual medication trials.

The Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office says Jasmine Anderson attempted suicide by hanging on Saturday, only moments after a cell check by guards. The attempt came two days after her arrest. Medics were able to revive her and placed into ICU. Anderson was placed on life support for organ procurement purposes.

An Orleans Parish Civil Court judge is expected to set a date today on when NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell will be deposed as part of the “Nola No Call Civil Suit.” An appeals court has denied the NFL’s attempt to block Goodell and other league officials from testifying. The goal of the suit is to make the NFL accountable and any damages recovered will go to charity.
