Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement Director Scott Angelle says lowering or eliminating the royalties in shallow water zones will allow companies to tap into a significant amount of untapped oil and gas.

In Avoyelles Parish two people are dead and two injured after a shooting early Sunday morning near the Community of Cottonport. The Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office says the shooting happened around 2 a.m. Sunday on Hwy. 29 at a club known as The New Beginnings. When APSO arrived at the scene, one man was dead, another was shot and driven to a hospital where he later died.
