Hurricane Zeta did a lot of damage to citrus crops and nurseries in southeast Louisiana, the most hurricane damage suffered in the area since Katrina in 2005.
LSU Ag Center Horticultural Agent Joe Willis says the late timing of the storm was brutal for vegetable farmers who had already transitioned to their fall crops. He says the damage is less than for the fruits, only about half were lost.

Governor John Bel Edwards announced a major technology agreement in northwest Louisiana Tuesday at LSU-Shreveport. The more than $3-million agreement with the university and LED will help advance students’ careers in technology.
Edwards says LSU-S is the fastest-growing higher education campus in the state and the new Cyber Collaboratory will only continue to attract new students.

Saturday’s LSU-Bama game in Baton Rouge has been postponed due to a COVID outbreak on LSU’s team.

Mayor Latoya Cantrell announced that the City of New Orleans will enter Phase 3.3 Nov. 11
The biggest changes include larger capacities for indoor and outdoor gatherings and indoor seating for bars.
Indoor gatherings can now include up to 100 people. The city stressed that the venue must be large enough to allow for people to be six feet apart.
Outdoor gatherings can now increase to 150 people.

This Saturday’s LSU-Alabama game has been postponed, because of a coronavirus outbreak with the Fighting Tigers football team. It remains to be seen if the game can still be played this season, but it will take the shuffling around of other games, since the Tigers do not have another by off week before the SEC Championship game on December 19th.

And there’s the situation with freshman LSU wide receiver Koy Moore, who claims officers harassed him on Saturday night as they suspected he was in possession of a gun and drugs. Three Baton Rouge Police Officers have been placed on administrative leave. Athletics Director Scott Woodward called it a troubling encounter, while Coach Ed Orgeron says…

The LSU-Alabama game is not the only SEC contest postponed for this weekend. Texas A-and-M versus Tennessee will not be played because of a COVID-outbreaking involving the Aggies football team. On Monday, it was announced Saturday’s Mississippi State-Auburn game has been tentatively moved to December 12th.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports the NFL owners have approved a proposal to add two playoff teams, one in each conference, in case regular-season games get canceled. That means there will be eight playoff teams in each conference and the top seed would not get a bye.

The NBA and its players’ association have agreed to begin a shortened 72-game regular season on December 22nd. The NBA Draft is set for Wednesday, November 18th and then free agency would begin on November 20th. The salary cap and luxury tax remain unchanged from last season.

A reschedule could be tough given the Tigers already had to put off their game against Florida earlier this season.

Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry, head of the Republican Attorneys General Association, asks the US Supreme Court to hear a case challenging the legality of many Pennsylvania mail-in ballots. Before the November 3^rd election the Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruled that mail-in ballots that arrived after polls closed could be counted. Landry says those votes shouldn’t count.

Under the ruling, a vote could be counted as long as the mail-in ballot was postmarked by Election Day.

Baton Rouge Police Internal Affairs are leading an investigation into claims by LSU freshman wide receiver Koy Moore that he was harassed and violated by cops who accused him of having drugs and a gun. Baton Rouge Police Chief Murphy Paul says the officers face additional training and potential punishment if it’s found they treated Moore unfairly…

Moore says he was harassed and violated by the cops. Paul says the law enforcement bill of rights gives the three officers, who have been placed on leave, 30 days to hire an attorney…

LSU and Bama will not play in Baton Rouge Saturday as previously planned due to a COVID outbreak on the LSU team reportedly linked to a Halloween party. Due to a combination of positive tests and mandatory quarantines, LSU will not have the minimum number of scholarship players on the roster necessary to compete in SEC play. The hope is to reschedule to game into later this year, but LSU is already having to play one COVID rescheduled game later in the season, that one against Florida.

Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry is leading the national Republican AG’s association effort to get the US Supreme Court to invalidate ballots received in Pennsylvania after 8 PM on Election Night, citing Pennsylvania state law. Landry says this challenge is about preserving election integrity.

The formation of subtropical storm Theta makes that 29 named storms for the year, a new record. Theta is headed to Portugal. The very eastern edge of southeast Louisiana is now in the cone of uncertainty to tropical storm Eta, but the system is still widely expected to make landfall somewhere in Florida.

In St Mary Parish the family of a 15-year-old boy Quawan Charles who was found dead near Loreauville in a sugarcane field wants answers to the cause of the teen’s death. The family says they were told Charles drowned and now they’re working for an independent autopsy. The family reported Charles missing on Friday, Oct. 30 in Baldwin. His body was found on November 3^rd by a law enforcement drone.
