The Tulane University Center for Brain Health has a new program to address the unique medical needs of veterans. The center’s medical director, Doctor Gregory Stewart, says the program can help vets who suffer from PTSD, depression, anxiety, and other psychological issues associated with serving in the military

Stewart says vets seeking treatment will undergo a three-day diagnostic evaluation that will result in the patient receiving a treatment plan

Stewart is overseeing a staff of over 30 doctors, specialists, and experts. He says this is a program a veteran should take advantage of, especially if they are having trouble receiving care from the Veteran’s Health Administration…

Brewer says these services will not cost the veteran anything beyond their time and a commitment to healing.

LSU Football Coach Ed Orgeron says victims of sexual abuse need support and protection. That’s in response to a USA Today report alleging the university mishandled complaints of sexual misconduct involving former members of the football team. Orgeron started his Monday press conference with this statement…

The U-S-A today story says LSU did not follow federal law and school policy after receiving complaints of sexual misconduct and dating violence involving nine former football players, including Derrius Guice and Drake Davis, since Ed Orgeron took over as head coach in 2016. Orgeron says when allegations are made, they should be reported to the university’s Title Nine office.

Orgeron also expressed confidence in school officials who are working to make sure policy and protocols are followed when a woman makes an accusation…

Congressman Cedric Richmond has a 9:45 am news conference scheduled where he’s expected to announce he’s accepted a position with the Biden administration. Political analyst Bernie Pinsonat says serving as a member of Congress is quite a resume builder.

Richmond was just re-elected to his sixth term in the second congressional district and served on Biden’s election campaign.
Pinsonat says when a Senator leaves office the Governor can appoint a temporary replacement until an election can be held, but when there’s a vacancy in a congressional seat, it can only be filled by a special election. As for potential candidates…

Pinsonat sees this as a win-win for the state, he says being a powerful congressman is one thing but a position in the White House has more pull when it comes to receiving federal funding.

As COVID cases increase across the state, numerous school systems are returning to virtual instruction for the safety of students and staff. State Superintendent of Education Cade Brumley says this was anticipated when they designed guidelines on how to transfer from one form of instruction to another.

As many students are having to readjust to virtual learning, Brumley says there are several things you can do to help your child adapt to the change. Brumley says implement a predictable schedule, provide a quiet learning space, provide encouragement and non-screen related activities as well.

Brumley says some silver linings to the pandemic are advances with virtual learning and giving parents more choices.

Saints Quarterback Drew Brees reportedly has multiple rib fractures and a collapsed lung and is expected to miss some games. Brees didn’t play in the second half in Sunday’s win over San Francisco. Jameis Winston will compete with Taysom Hill for the starting job. Coach Sean Payton says he’s comfortable with both players.

LSU Football Coach Ed Orgeron expects most of the players who were in quarantine should return today and that means they’ll actually have two scholarship quarterbacks at practice. Orgeron says they’ll have to ease them back in

Because of COVID-19 cases within the football program and players who had to quarantine because of contact tracing, last Saturday’s scheduled LSU-Alabama game was postponed.
