Sad News for Louisiana today: Ferriday native and Rock n Roll and Country Music Hall of Famer Jerry Lee Lewis has died at the age of 87.

The Coast Guard has more information on the two men rescued from a fatal helicopter crash Wednesday night in the Gulf of Mexico, of the coast of Morgan City. Coast Guard Commander Sean DiGeorge says the Jayhawk chopper was low on fuel when they got the distress call, and decisions were made on the fly with little info to go on…:

Halloween is Monday; fun for kids and adults alike, but possibly dangerous for your pets. Louisiana Humane Society President Jeff Dorson says be careful to keep candy where pets cannot eat it – especially chocolate – because it’s toxic to them…:

Arrest warrants have been issued for all three coaches at Carroll High School, after a skirmish last Friday at Franklin Parish High. The LHSAA has suspended Coach Brandon Landers and his staff for the rest of the season. Now they are charged by Franklin Parish authorities with battery of a police officer and inciting a riot.

Deputies in Lafourche Parish arrest the man they say provided the drugs that killed a 15-year-old girl and sent a 16-year-old boy to the hospital. Lafourche Sheriff’s spokesman Capt. Brennan Matherne says 18-year-old Blayne Terrebonne is now in custody. Matherne says the female victim’s sister was the one who found her, and family members have a role to play in protecting young people from dangerous drugs…:

Ferriday native and American music legend Jerry Lee Lewis has passed away at age 87. He died this morning at his home in northern Mississippi. Baton Rouge publisher and attorney Jim Brown knew Lewis for decades. He says, despite his stardom, he was quite down-to-earth when you met him..:

The man they called “The Killer” has passed away. Louisiana entertainment legend Jerry Lee Lewis died today at age 87. The Ferriday native won three Grammy and scored numerous top hits in rock & roll, pop and country music. Baton Rouge attorney and publisher Jim Brown knew Lewis for decades. He says even a major scandal over marrying his 13-year-old cousin couldn’t end his drive to make music…:

Lafourche Parish deputies arrest a man accused of selling the drugs that killed one teenager and put another in the hospital. 18-year-old Blayne Terrebonne is alleged to be a drug dealer who caused the overdose death of a 15-year-old girl from Galliano. A 16-year-old boy is still recovering from his overdose. Sheriff’s spokesman Brennan Matherne says more arrests could be coming…:

Baton Rouge Attorney Jim Brown knew Lewis from his days in Ferriday and says the piano player who called himself Killer had audiences dancing when he came on the scene in the 1950s…

The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s office announces the arrest of 18 year old Blayne Terrebonne of Larose in connection with the suspected drug overdose death of a 15 year old girl and the hospitalization of a 16 year old boy. Both are from Galliano. Captain Brennan Matherne says it’s a tragic situation…

President of the Louisiana Humane Society Jeff says chocolate is especially toxic to dogs and while the kids tend to get hyped up on sugar in general it’s harmful to your pets. He suggests that you keep pets out of the same room while your trick-or-treaters sort their candy.

The Coast Guard is providing more details on the dramatic Wednesday night rescue of two helicopter crew members from the Gulf of Mexico. Three people were in the helicopter that was transferring them from an oil rig to Abbeville when it went down about 40 miles from Morgan City. Lt Commander Sean Di George says they put out a call for help from any boats that might be in the area.

Baton Rouge Congressman Garret Graves says the USDA has agreed to purchase 25-million dollars’ worth of Gulf of Mexico shrimp. Graves says Louisiana’s shrimp industry has faced several hardships in a row, Hurricane Ida, unfair trade practices, and inflation. He says this is help for shrimpers right now, but not a permanent fix…

The Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested 45-year-old Quentin Smith of Vidalia for human trafficking. CPSO spokesperson Brandy Spears says their Cyber Crime Unit began working on the case on Monday and on Wednesday they arrested Smith in Mississippi.

Smith is accused of transporting the victims to locations in Concordia Parish and Adams County, Mississippi.

Congressman Garret Graves announces federal help for an ailing Louisiana shrimping industry. The U.S. Department of Agriculture will purchase up to $25-million in wild-caught shrimp. Graves says shrimpers have had to cope with natural disasters, rising fuel costs, and a market glutted with Asian imports.

The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Larose man who is allegedly responsible for two overdoses in the south Lafourche area on Thursday. Deputies believe 18-year-old Blayne Terrebonne supplied a dangerous drug to a 15-year-old female who died from the substance and a 16-year-old male is hospitalized. Deputies say anyone who bought drugs from Terrebonne are at a great risk of overdose if those drugs are taken.

45-year-old Quentin Smith of Vidalia is facing human trafficking and rape charges for allegedly providing drugs to juveniles and then transporting them to homes were adults would engage in sexual activity with unconscious victims. Concordia Parish Sheriff’s office spokesperson Brandy Spears says this is their first arrest for human trafficking, but when it comes to child solicitation…

The investigation in this case is ongoing.

There’s a chance we could see an inch of rain or possibly even more fall today and tomorrow. For the past month, State Climatologist Barry Keim says the state has only averaged about a half-inch of rain when three-and-a-half to four inches of rain is considered normal for this time period.

There’s some welcome news for your outdoor plants and yards as significant rain is in the forecast for Louisiana. State Climatologist Barry Keim says according to the latest drought monitor, nearly the entire state is under drought and some areas are even considered in severe drought.

The Franklin Parish Sheriff’s Office has issued arrest warrants for Carroll High School football coach Brandon Landers and two of his assistant coaches for a physical altercation that took place between the coaches and law enforcement during a game at Franklin Parish High School last Friday. The coaches are facing charges of inciting a riot and battery of a police officer. The LHSAA has suspended the coaches for the season. The Monroe School District is appealing those suspensions.
