A Rapides Parish jury found 46-year-old David Anthony Burns guilty of the murder 19-year-old Courtney Coco who was found in 2004 in Texas. Authorities say she was killed in Alexandria. Rapides District Attorney Phillip Terrell says Burns and Coco were in a relationship and even though Burns was questioned numerous times right after the crime he never confessed to law enforcement.

Burns is facing a mandatory life sentence on the second-degree murder conviction and will be sentenced November 28th.

A private funeral service for rock n roll legend Jerry Lee Lewis will be held Saturday in his hometown of Ferriday. Services will be at 11 AM at Young’s Funeral Home and it will be live-streamed on Lewis’ Facebook page. A celebration of life is also scheduled for 1 PM Saturday at the Arcade Theater in Ferriday. Lewis died Friday at the age of 87.

Congressman Troy Carter says a Wind Energy Zone Designation in the gulf offshore from Louisiana is significant. The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management has finalized two Wind Energy Areas in the Gulf and one is off the coast of Lake Charles.

Trooper William Huggins says Tangipahoa Sheriff deputies responded to a domestic disturbance call and shortly after they arrived 27-year-old Randall Bass barricaded himself in a vehicle and told officers he had an explosive device, hours later Bass got out of the car with a gun and an explosive, shots were fired, and he died at the scene.

The NFL trade deadline came and went at three PM today and Running back Alvin Kamara is still with the Saints. There was speculation that New Orleans might deal Kamara, but he remains with the Black and Gold.

The Saints will host the 5-and-3 Ravens next Monday night. But it doesn’t look like fellow running back Mark Ingram will be available. Ingram suffered an MCL sprain in the first quarter on Sunday and he’ll reportedly miss the next three to four weeks.

The only other running back on the Saints 53-man roster is Dwayne Washington. On the practice squad they have former Bears, Dolphins and Eagles running back Jordan Howard.

LSU will host sixth-ranked Alabama Saturday in their third matchup against a top-ten opponent. Coming off a bye week and a win over undefeated Ole Miss, the Tigers look to take control of the SEC West with a win. The 6-2 Tigers have struggled with inconsistencies, but look to be catching their stride under new Head Coach Brian Kelly. Two more people are under arrest in connection with the fatal overdose death of a 15-year-old Galliano girl last month. Lafourche Parish deputies arrested 21-year-old Anthony Francis, of Larose, and 18-year-old Sergio Perez, of Cutoff, were charged with drug distribution. 18-year-old Blayne Terrebonne was arrested last week.

New Orleans Police are investigating four separate shootings that occurred between 4 pm and 8:30 Sunday. Three men and one woman were shot- all in separate and seemingly unrelated incidents. All were non-fatal, but there are – so far – no known suspects or known motives.

Congressman Troy Carter says a Wind Energy Zone designation in the Gulf offshore from Louisiana is significant for the state. He says the approval from the federal Bureau of Ocean Energy Management will mean wind energy off the Gulf Coast that could power millions of homes and businesses. Carter says it will take some time to do, but Louisiana is ahead of the curve because of infrastructure already in place in the Gulf…:

State Police are investigating, as with any officer-involved shooting. Bass had reportedly threatened to burn his estranged wife’s house down, and that’s why police were there.

A local man who went missing last week while hiking in Arkansas, near the Buffalo River has been found alive. 67-year-old Preston Smith was last seen Thursday. He had meant to only hike about 6 miles, but got lost. When rescuers found him he was dehydrated, but able to walk.

Powerball! No winner last night, so Wednesday’s drawing is now worth an estimated $1.2-billion. That’s would be a lump-sum prize of about $597-million.

More clean energy jobs are likely coming to Louisiana. Clean Hydrogen Works plans to build a huge ammonia plant in Ascension Parish. CHW’s Senior Vice President and Chief Development Officer Vee Godley says he feels the company fits well here because their goals mesh well with the state’s..:

Godley says the facility will capture 98 percent of the greenhouse gasses produced and another company will ship it away for safe storage. When it’s operating fully, about 350 direct full time jobs and around 1100 indirect jobs.

State Police are investigating a two-vehicle crash that killed one Monroe woman yesterday. Troopers say 45-year-old Kieta Hale’s SUV ran a stop sign on state Highway 838 and was hit broadside by a concrete truck. She died later a Monroe hospital. A blood toxicology sample was taken to see if impairment played a role in her death.

The Baton Rouge hiker that’s been missing since Thursday has been found alive after a solo trip hiking a trail in Northeast Arkansas. That’s according to a report from KY3 in Springfield Missouri 67-year-old Clinton “Preston” Smith has been found alive. No work on his condition at the time.

Louisiana Congressman Clay Higgins posted a joke on Twitter about House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband and then removed it. Authorities say Paul Pelosi suffered a skull fracture during an attack inside his San Francisco home last week. Higgins’ Tweet was a joke about the Assailant being a “nude hippie LSD guy”; suggesting he was not an intruder. New Orleans Congressman Troy Carter says Higgins should apologize.

The St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office charges 42-year-old Joshua Boudreaux with negligent injury after he accidentally shot his neighbor while trying to shoot his dog. Sheriff Bobby Guidroz says Boudreaux told them the dog had been on his property several times and was concerned about the dog acting aggressively towards his son with disabilities, but the sheriff says there was no justification for him to shoot the dog.

Early Voting for the November 8th election ends at 6 PM tonight, and it looks like low turnout among Louisiana’s black voters. Pollster John Couvillon, with JMC Analytics and Polling, says information collected through Saturday indicates only 24 percent of that was by black voters…:

18 years after Courtney Coco of Alexandria was killed, 46-year-old David Anthony Burns of Boyce was found guilty of killing the 19-year-old. Coco’s body was found in 2004 in an abandoned building in Texas, but prosecutors say she was killed in Alexandria. Burns will be sentenced to life next month, but his attorney Christopher LaCour believes Burns is not guilty.
