State police have arrested 16 suspects and are looking for severl more in connection to a statewide car theft ring. One of the 16 in custody is from Louisiana, the rest are from Texas. An investigation into discrepancies of transactions began in January of 2022. Suspects are accused of using fake documents to undervalue cars to avoid taxes and some of the cars were reported stolen.

The MegaMillions Lottery Jackpot soars to an estimated $940 million dollars. That’s the eighth-largest ever in the U.S. Dustin Annison with the Louisiana Lottery says tonight’s jackpot has a lump sum value of $473 million.

Another week of oppressive heat is on the way with temperatures reaching triple digits starting this weekend. State Climatologist Barry Keim says there’s no real reason why the dome of high pressure has parked itself over the south.

Louisiana State Police has arrested 16 people in a statewide car theft ring for selling more than 100 vehicles using fake documents. The suspects sold 180 vehicles with a total value of over $9.8 million. Of the 16 people arrested, only one is from Louisiana, while the rest are from Texas and Florida.

More criticism from Lake Charles officials over the state department of transportation’s proposal to use toll money to pay for a proposed two-point-one billion dollar I-10 bridge over the Calcasieu River. 33-year-old Gabriel Bates of Opelousas is sentenced to 26 months in prison on counterfeiting charges. Bates was already under surveillance by the Secret Service when Opelousas Police responded to a call from a local donut shop, they identified Bates using a fake $20 last August.
