After spending just one season at LSU as the pitching coach, Jason Kelly is headed back to the University of Washington to be the head baseball coach there. Kelly was an assistant at UW from 2013 to 2019 and was named National Assistant Coach of the Year in 2018. LSU coach Jay Johnson says when you have a strong program, schools will come:

Earlier in the day, Oklahoma clobbered Texas A&M 13-8. Today Arkansas plays Stanford, and SEC West rivals Ole Miss and Auburn hit the diamond at 7.

The Saints wrapped up minicamp Thursday by working indoors to escape the heat. The team had total participation in minicamp and Dennis Allen thinks they laid a great foundation heading into training camp next month.

The Golden State Warriors are NBA Champions for the fourth time in the past eight seasons. Golden State beat the Boston Celtics 103-90 to close the Finals in six games. The New Orleans Pelicans hold the 8th selection in the draft.

The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office and SWAT had to regain control at the Bridge City Youth Center as 20 juveniles seized the facility last night causing authorities to be called in to help. The disturbance comes hours after 5 juveniles had escaped the center. Four were caught and one remains at large.

The New Orleans Saints unveiled an alternate helmet that will be worn in the 2022 season, which is entirely black with a gold fleur de lis. The Black and Gold haven’t indicated which game or games the new helmet will be worn, but it’s expected to be paired with the color rush uniforms — which have been the most popular among fans in recent years. The last time the Saints wore black helmets was the preseason in 1969 but those were scrapped because they weren’t approved by the NFL.

Louisiana Tech Head Baseball Coach Lane Burroughs will remain the leader of the Bulldogs through at least the 2026-27 season under a contract extension approved by the Board of Supervisors Thursday. Rumors were swirling the national media earlier in the week suggesting Burroughs could leave for a different college, but he put those to rest with a tweet announcing he’s staying in Ruston.

LSU basketball will host Texas Tech in the annual SEC/Big 12 Challenge on January 28, 2023 at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. The SEC made that announcement on Thursday.

LSU defensive end Soni Fonua announced Thursday he’s entering the NCAA transfer portal. He recorded 6 1/2 tackles in 2021 and started the last 5 games of the season.

The Golden State Warriors and Steph Curry have done it once again as they prevail in the NBA championship over the Boston Celtics 103-90 in Game 6 to take the series 4-2.
This is the 4th title in eight seasons for the Warriors, the first team to do that since the Jordan-era Chicago Bulls.

Current support for such preservation is funded by hunting and fishing license fees..:

It was shot down because the judge said it didn’t reflect the state’s 1/3 Black voter population. All four people believed to have been involved in the killing of an 80-year-old grandmother during a high school graduation shooting at Xavier University are in custody. New Orleans Pelicans center Jaxson Hayes was sentenced to 3 years of probation and 450 hours of community service plus domestic violence classes for getting into a dispute with officers responding to a domestic violence call last summer in LA.

Game 6 of the NBA finals takes place tonight and the stakes are high for the Boston Celtics as they take on the Golden State Warriors. If Boston wins, they keep hopes alive and force a game 7. But if the Warriors win tonight, it’ll be their 4th ring in the past 8 years under coach Steve Kerr.
