The Pelicans thrashed the warriors at home 119-100 in their first home game of the western conference semi finals, bringing the series against the resigning champs to 2-1. That means no matter what, New Orleans has booked a ticket back to California to keep the series alive. The Brow was massive in the game, with 33 points and 18 rebounds, leading the team in both categories. But Davis didn’t just lead the team on the boxscore, reports say he roused New Orleans before the game with a simple message, “We’re not losing this game”.

Game four tips off at 2:30 tomorrow, with game five in Oakland on Tuesday at 9:30.

And today is the Kentucky Derby. The owner of the Pelicans and Saints, Gayle Benson, has a horse in the race. Lone Sailor is one of the biggest long shots to win.  The jockey will be James Graham and the horse drew the eighth post.

The LSU baseball team blew another late game lead as they fell to 4th ranked Arkansas 5-4 in the opening game of a three-game set. The Tigers led 4-2 in the eighth inning, but they gave up three runs in the eighth inning as Nick Bush was charged with his first loss of the season. LSU is now 10-12 in the SEC.

The Ragin Cajuns clobbered 15th ranked Coastal Carolina 12-6. Colten Schmidt gave up just one run over eight innings and struck out nine to get the win. Kellon Fontenot’s three-run homer in the fifth busted the game wide open.

Georgia State and ULM was rained out. Louisiana Tech played and lost to Middle Tennessee 6-4, Texas Southern trounced Grambling eight to one.

Sam Houston State over Southeastern five to three…McNeese fell to Texas A-and-M Corpus Christi nine to four, UNO split a doubleheader with Houston Baptist and Northwestern and Nicholls had their games rained out.

The Pelicans are hoping the home crowd can help them get a victory over Golden State and avoid an 0-3 hole in the best of seven Western Conference semifinal series. It’s a matchup between two of the fastest, most up tempo teams in the league, and some fans are getting worried that it’s impossible to beat Golden State at their own game. Coach Alvin Gentry says no matter what, they are not changing what’s gotten them this far.

Rough game for former LSU standout Ben Simmons last night. Simmons scored just one point and through the first two games of the series, he has 12 turnovers and 13 assists as the 76ers trail two games to none.

LSU enters this weekend on the bubble to make the NCAA Baseball Tournament and there’s just three weeks left in the regular season. The Tigers can boost their RPI with a series victory over 4th ranked Arkansas this weekend. LSU has won 12 of the last 13 SEC regular-season series versus the Hogs. That includes the Rally Possum game two years ago in Baton Rouge. Coach Paul Mainieri says he can’t explain the Tigers success against the Hogs, considering the number of great players that have come through the Razorback program….

Louisiana’s Gross Domestic Product Growth in 2017 was the lowest in the nation at minus-point-two-percent in 2017. That’s according to new data from the Bureau of Economic Analysis. But the state’s G-D-P for the fourth quarter of 2017 was two-point-two percent. Scott credits the industrial expansion boom ongoing in Lake Charles and Baton Rouge…

Caddo Parish native Johnnie Cochran Senior will be laid to rest tomorrow. He’s the father of Johnnie Cochran Junior who was one of the lead attorneys in the defense of O-J Simpson in the brutal murders of Nicole Simpson and Ron Goldman. Senior lived to be 101 years old and even though he lived in California he regularly visited Shreveport.

Louisiana has been given full control of Red Snapper waters from the feds for the 2018 and 2019 seasons. Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Biologist Harry Blanchet says that’s great news for bayou sportsmen.

This year’s season will kick off Friday, May 25th, with a total allocation of 743,000 pounds allowed to be harvested

Not only will it be easier to keep track of where you are allowed to fish, Blanchet says you’ll be allowed to head out all week long.

Blanchet says part of the reason the state has been given authority over both waters is that early projections indicate that anglers won’t have a lot of success fishing in the federal waters this season.

The Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival is expecting over 30-thousand people at this weekend’s massive festival just outside Lafayette. Festival Spokesperson Angelique Bernard says an unbelievable amount of mudbugs will be consumed.

But it’s not just the usual boiled affair. Bernard says there’s a little something for everyone.

The massive blaze shutdown I-10 on Thursday, but it’s has since re-opened. State Police spokesperson Brooks David says investigators still don’t know what caused the blaze

It’s also a big weekend of high school baseball quarterfinal as there are best of three series involving most of the classes in division. In Class 5A, 4th seeded Barbe hosts fifth seeded Captian Shreve. In Four-A, 27th seeded Buckeye is still around and they face third seeded DeRidder.

The LSU baseball team can turn its season around, if they can take this weekend’s series versus fourth ranked Arkansas. Coach Paul Mainieri’s team is in a slump, while the Razorbacks are one of the top teams in a loaded SEC

The Louisiana House has passed legislation that says drivers are not allowed to handle their cell phone while behind the wheel. It passed on a 53-34 vote. State Representative Barbara Norton voted no. The Shreveport Democrat says she conducts work on her phone during her 250-mile drive to the capitol….

LSU officials told the Advocate that football season ticket renewals are down only one-percent, despite a nationwide trend of falling attendence across college football.

Georgia Football Coach Kirby Smart has received a new seven-year, 49-million dollar contract.

LSU baseball takes on the first place team in the SEC West when they host Arkansas tonight for the start of a weekend series. The Tigers are 10-11 in the league, while the Razorbacks are 13-8. Sophomore infielder Josh Smith is not expected to play this weekend as he continues to have issues with his back. Blaine Knight starts on the hill for the Hogs, he’s 7-0 on the year.

The Ragin Cajuns get a chance at the best team in the Sun Belt as they host 15th ranked Coastal Carolina for a three game series. Coastal is 17-4 in the Sun Belt, while UL Lafayette is 12-9, a half game back of Little Rock for first place in the West Division. ULM hosts Georgia State.

Louisiana Tech begins a three-game set with Middle Tennessee tonight. The Bulldogs have won seven of their last nine. In six of those victories, they’ve scored in double figures.

In the Southland, all of the Louisiana teams are on the road. Southeastern is at first place Sam Houston.

Grambling is at Texas Southern in a big matchup in the SWAC.
