LSU is ranked 10th in the latest College Football Playoff Rankings, which puts them in position to either play in the Peach Bowl or Fiesta Bowl. College Football Playoff committee chairman Rob Mullens says the 9-and-3 Tigers have a strong resume.

And the head of officiating for the SEC says the referees in the LSU-Texas A&M game did not have a horrible or a bad game, just tough plays to deal with.

Saints Quarterback Drew Brees is on the cover of this week’s Sports Illustrated. The headline says its time to rethink Drew Brees and it also says please stop calling Brees an underdog. Writer Greg Bishop calls Brees one of the greatest quarterbacks, if not the greatest, who’s ever lived.

The Pelicans lost their fourth straight last night as they fell to Boston 124 to 107. New Orleans turned it over 22 times and that led to 32 points for the Celtics. Anthony Davis played with a bad hip, but still scored 27 points and 16 rebounds. New Orleans hosts Washington tomorrow night.

The LSU Tigers have dropped out of the Top 25 polls after losing two games in Orlando. The Tigers lost in overtime to Florida State and then fell to Oklahoma State 90-77 in the third place game of the AdvoCare Invitational . Coach Will Wade’s team returns to the court Saturday to host Grambling State.

Tonight….Northwestern State hosts longtime rival ULM. The Demons have won the last two games in this series.

Christopher Landry of Denham Springs has been sentenced to death in the murder of Kayla Denhem who went to Landry’s home last June to provide a sensual massage and was strangled and beaten to death. Prosecutors say Landry hit the 24-year-old woman 15 times with a steel Indian war club and left her lifeless body in a plastic tub in a backyard shed.

New video has surfaced that shows the encounter between LSU offensive analyst Steve Kragthorpe and Texas A-and-M’s Cole Fisher following Saturday’s record setting seven overtime thriller. The video shows Fisher shoving Kragthorpe and then taking a swing at Kevin Faulk who is also on LSU’s staff. The SEC has fined A-and-M 50-thousand dollars for allowing its fans to storm the field.

A crash involving a suspected impaired driver during the Thanksgiving Holiday has left a teenage pedestrian dead in Calcasieu Parish.

The crash took the life of 13 year old Kyrin Pete of Lake Charles during the early morning hours of Thanksgiving Day.

Toxicology samples were taken and the crash remains under investigation.
