LSU and U-L Lafayette both say they are monitoring the track of Hurricane Delta, which is expected to make landfall in Louisiana as a hurricane on Saturday morning. The Cajuns host Coastal Carolina at 11 AM, while the Bayou Bengals take on Missouri in Tiger Stadium at 8 PM.

If they play on Saturday, The 17th ranked Tigers will get back starting defensive tackle Glen Logan after a two-game suspension. Coach Ed Orgeron says he’s been practicing every day…

Four-time champion Edna Karr is ranked number one in Four-A, St. James is ranked number one in 3A, Ferriday is number one in Two-A and Ouachita Christian is the top-ranked team in One-A. Many games this week are moving to Wednesday and Thursday to avoid Hurricane Delta.

Hurricane Delta is now a Category 4 storm and once again Louisiana is in the crosshairs of a major hurricane. National Weather Service New Orleans meteorologist Kevin Gilmore says before it becomes an issue for the northern Gulf Coast on Saturday, it’ll make an initial landfall in Mexico.

Gilmore says the current forecast shows the storm weakening to a Cat 2 before the projected landfall in southeast Louisiana, but the storm could still produce major impacts in the Bayou State.

2020 continues to be an extremely difficult year for most and an active hurricane season is another straw to the camel’s back. Hurricane Laura was devastating for southwest Louisiana and now Hurricane Delta is on track to strike the state. LSU Health New Orleans Clinical Psychologist Dr. Michelle Moore says understanding that an increased level of stress is a normal reaction is the first step towards coping.

Prepping for disaster and a storm’s failure to impact the state is another added stressor. But Moore says to decrease the anxiety you should always take action by preparing.

2020 has brought about multiple ongoing complex issues from COVID, to job losses, and political bickering. Moore says we shouldn’t forget that coping with hurricanes does incorporate a sense of finality.

Private funeral services for Former Louisiana Governor Mike Foster will take place tomorrow morning at his Oaklawn Manor Home. A public military graveside service will be held afterward. Foster was not a career politician as he says in this 2010 interview, he waited until his late 50s before he ran for the state senate

State Climatologist Barry Keim says Hurricane Delta is currently in the Caribbean and is expected to enter the Gulf tomorrow after going over the tip of Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula…

Keim says Delta is expected to be a major hurricane as it moves through the Gulf, but cooler waters near the Gulf coast will weaken the storm.

The Shreveport Police Department is working a triple homicide that happened last night in the Allendale neighborhood. Officers say the bodies of three men were found outside of a vacant house and the victims were shot in the head. The search is ongoing for the suspect or suspects.

Delta is now a Category Two hurricane and is eyeing a first landfall on the Yucatan Peninsula tomorrow, but is expected to maintain it’s major hurricane Category status as it gets in the Gulf of Mexico. The National Hurricane Center says it’s possible Delta could be a Cat 4 storm and possibly be a Cat 3 when it makes landfall early Saturday along the Louisiana coast.

A House committee has approved legislation that would result in local governments and universities losing funding for construction projects if they cut their police budgets by ten percent or more. Alexandria Representative Lance Harris is the author of the bill and he’s not a fan of the defund police movement. Bastrop Representative Frederick Jones also disagrees with the Defund movement, but he voted against the bill…

Former Governor Mike Foster will be laid to rest tomorrow in his hometown of Franklin after passing away on Sunday at the age of 90. He’s credited for creating the Louisiana Community and Technical College System. L-C-T-C-S president Monty Sullivan says prior to 1998, the state had four community colleges and one technical college. That has since grown to a system of twelve colleges.

Brennan has been hurt by dropped passes this season. Last year, LSU receivers dropped 20 passes in 15 games. This year, they’ve already dropped eight passes in two games. The Tigers host Mizzou on Saturday night.

The postponed Bayou Classic will be played in Shreveport on April 17th, not New Orleans. Officials say the Superdome will not available because of renovations.

The Sun Belt Conference has moved its championship game from December 5th to December 19th.

Hurricane Delta has intensified into a Category Two storm as it’s expected to move over the tip of the Yucatan Peninsula tomorrow and be a major hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico on Thursday. The current forecast track calls for Delta to make landfall in southeast Louisiana early Saturday morning. The Bayou Classic football game between Southern and Grambling traditionally held Thanksgiving weekend in New Orleans is getting a new home for 2021 as it moves to Shreveport. The 47th annual game will take place April 17. Shreveport Mayor Adrian Perkins says it’s a big win for the city.

Bayou Classic officials say this is a one-time, temporary move of location, similar to what happened in 2005, when the game was played in Houston, following Hurricane Katrina.

LSU announces alcohol will be for sale at Saturday night’s home game against Missouri. Also, the school says ticketholders will no longer need to complete a CDC wellness check before entering Tiger Stadium. Governor Edwards says this will also be the case at other athletic venues like Cajun Field where U-L Lafayette hosts Coastal Carolina on Saturday.

The Saints ended their two-game losing streak yesterday with a 35-29 win over the Detroit Lions. There was a concern the game would be postponed because fullback Michael Burton tested positive for COVID-19, but it turned out to be a false positive. However, several players were up into early Sunday morning waiting on another round of test results. Wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders says they would not use that false-positive test as an excuse…

Tropical Storm Delta is strengthening over the northwestern Caribbean Sea and is expected to become a hurricane on Tuesday.  National Weather Service New Orleans meteorologist Kevin Gilmore says the storm appears to be on track for a Friday morning landfall.

Gilmore says the current projected path has Louisiana in the crosshairs for that landfall, but the cone of uncertainty is much wider.
