Democratic incumbent Senator Mary Landrieu agrees to participate in four televised debates before the November 4th election. The first one will be in New Orleans on October 2nd. University of Louisiana at Lafayette Political Science Professor Pearson Cross says debates are a great way to educate the voter, but they have little impact on the election…

No word if Republican challenger Bill Cassidy will participate, while Tea Party candidate Rob Maness has said he will be at the first three for sure.

A 44-year-old West Monroe man has been arrested for possession of pornography involving juveniles after an investigation involving Louisiana State Police, the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office, and the FBI. During questioning, Robert Scott admitted to downloading child pornography for the last five years. Scott was booked into the Ouachita Parish Correctional Center.

The Plaquemines Parish Sheriff’s Office says they are investigating an industrial incident at Daybrook Fisheries where two men got trapped in some equipment which caused extensive damage to their legs. Spokesman Commander Eric Becnel says two men got stuck in equipment during maintenance work and had to be extricated by the fire department. He says the first individual sustained severe injuries to one of his legs and was taken to a local hospital…

Studies on eating habits in America consistently show Louisiana to be among the most obese states in the nation. The Dare To Be Healthy initiative has launched “Eat Healthy SWLA” to help people make healthier choices at restaurants. Program Coordinator Janice Ackley says her group enlists the help of registered dietitians to work with restaurants…
