Central and south Louisiana are in store for heavy rains over the next couple of days.  An arctic cold front moved in yesterday plummeting temperatures and bringing a lot of moisture.  The weekend will be clear, but Phil Grigsby with the National Weather Service says you still will need warm clothing if you’re heading out during this extended cold period…

You may be thinking about using heaters and fireplaces to keep you warm. The chances for house fires increases, especially if proper precautions are not followed. There were 46 fire related deaths last year in Louisiana. State Fire Marshal Butch Browning says that number will increase this year, even though his department educates the public on fire safety…

Louisiana’s Medicaid program is spending at a slower pace than expected.  The forecast shows they may spend as much as 650-million-dollars less, which could give the program a surplus in six months.  30-million-dollars of that money would go to a state general fund surplus that could be spent elsewhere in state government…
