Baton Rouge has moved from #1 to #2 in new rankings of AIDS cases, according to new data released by the Centers for Disease Control. Reverend AJ Johnson, CEO and Founder of the Baton Rouges AIDS society, says there is a massive lack of education on this matter in the area and not enough people getting tested…

The data, which is based on 2012 numbers, indicates there were 27.5 AIDS cases per 100,000 people down from 29.4 the year prior.

State Treasurer John Kennedy is concerned the state is spending way more than it’s bringing in which could lead to another round of mid-year budget cuts. Kennedy says at the end of October our revenue was supposed to be up 4.4% but that hasn’t happened…

He says changes need to be made otherwise mid-year budget cuts could do further damage to higher education.

UL-Lafayette Political Science Professor Pearson Cross says many Republicans running in the mid-terms found it sufficient to run against President Obama rather than on a platform of things the party wanted to do. He says, now that they’ve seized control of both houses of Congress, that won’t be enough…
