Transportation employees and elected officials will take part in the ceremony at the Louisiana-Arkansas state line on the new highway. Burns says there are a couple of small sections of the Interstate that need to be tied in to I-220 in Shreveport. He says once that’s done, they’ll be at full gallop for economic development…

GasBuddy.com reports the average price for a gallon of regular gasoline statewide is below 2.80. DeHaan says if things continue to trend the way they did last year, we’ll likely continue to see that price keeping getting lower until mid-December. He says our area typically sees even bigger decreases…:
DeHaan says autumn prices typically drop because of the decrease in demand and cost savings associated with the cheaper winter-blend gasoline. He says this is saving consumer big bucks…:

Tulane researchers determine eating shrimp from an area of the Gulf of Mexico impacted by the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill poses no acute health risks or increased cancer risks. Research professor Mark Wilson says when the spill occurred, there were concerns that shrimp would be contaminated by a class of chemicals that can pose health hazards
Wilson says they also surveyed over one-hundred Vietnamese residents in New Orleans East that tend to eat more shrimp than most people and that helped them reach the conclusion that Gulf shrimp are safe to eat
Wilson hopes the study’s results will get to wholesalers and distributors, who still may have concerns Gulf Shrimp are contanimated with unhealthy chemicals

49er kicker Phil Dawson put a 35-yard field goal through the uprights in overtime as San Francisco edged the Saints 27-24 yesterday in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. Saints Quarterback Drew Brees threw for 292 yards and three touchdowns, but threw two interceptions and lost a critical fumble in overtime. Coach Sean Payton says this is a disappointing loss…
