Louisiana is putting another 100-million dollars into the fortified roof program. Insurance Commissioner Tim Temple says Louisiana has the fastest fortified roof grant program in the country. He says improving the resilience of homes is key to reducing insurance losses.
Governor Landry is calling for a 90-day ban on diesel exports with diesel now averaging more than six dollars a gallon in Louisiana. In an appearance on CNBC, Landry says while the overall solution needs to be wide-ranging, his temporary export moratorium is a start.
The Louisiana Mid-Continent Oil and Gas Association says halting diesel exports would force refineries to reduce production, which would also decrease the production of gasoline.
Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser says Dr. Heidi Overton, President Trump’s nominee to lead the EPA, should visit Louisiana to learn about the issues surrounding the state’s seafood industry. Nungesser says it needs strong safeguards to protect not only the people who eat the seafood, but also the people who catch the seafood locally.
LSU defensive back Dashawn Spears will reportedly miss the rest of the season after tearing his ACL during Saturday night’s loss to Ole Miss. Head Coach Lane Kiffin says not having Spears will be a big loss for the defense.
Wide Receiver Trey’Dez Green is also expected to miss some time after spraining his knee Saturday night.
