Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport received a one-million-dollar grant to help incentivize a carrier to start offering direct flights from Baton Rouge to Chicago. BTR was one of 14 airports nationwide to win the grant through the U-S Department of Transportation’s Small Community Air Service Deployment Program. Director of aviation Mike Edwards says it is the same type of grant that helped the airport launch its nonstop flights to Washington, D.C. He says that service is still going strong.

The average cost of a gallon of regular gasoline in Louisiana is up to four dollars. AAA spokesman Don Redman says he doesn’t expect prices to go back down until the war in Iran ends. The statewide record is four dollars and 55 cents a gallon, but Redman doesn’t think it will get that bad.
LSU dropped to number 10 in the AP poll after losing to Ole Miss 32-24. The Tigers trailed by 17 in the third quarter but tied the game and had a chance to force overtime in the final minutes. Coach Lane Kiffin says the team will need to regroup before its SEC home opener against number-23 Texas A&M on Saturday.
The Saints got a big 24-17 road win over the Ravens yesterday. Quarterback Tyler Shough threw for 252 yards and a touchdown and punched in the go-ahead touchdown to cap off a 15-point fourth quarter. Shough says he doesn’t feel any pressure in the moment.
